Just a headsup Angela .. in the info box where it says More from Angela .. there's a logo with a link to your wordpress blog .. but when i clicked it a screen came up with info that appears to be only for you.
I turned 40 this year and I am trained in age care but my passion is cleaning, housekeeping, cooking and organising so I am setting up a housekeeping business later this year
I have been cleaning house for over 11 years now. I do 1 job a day 5 days a week because i only want to work part time. To those that want to be house cleaners i would recommend working for another good cleaning company to learn how to clean professionally. That's what i did years ago and it really helped. Good luck to all of u!!
I needed this big time. I'm not exactly a house cleaner, I usually come here for general cleaning tips, but your business advice is usually good for business, in general. I'm branching out into my own business alone right now and I get a bit unsure of myself, at times. Sometimes I really just have to fake confidence until I'm psyched enough to really be confident because being timid and fearful in my approach has a big impact on my success rate. When I come at things with strong faith in my ability and God's, should my own fail me, things seem to work out much smoother and fruitfully.
I feel just like you ! I prayed and went to a house and decided to to charge by the work the client wanted. But I got nervous e at the end and had no idea how much or how long it would take to charge one prize for the kitchen and 2 bathrooms in a half. So then I just said I would do it by the hour and it was 10 hours only the kitchen one toilet bathroom and started the master bathroom. And I made 350 at 35 and hour and I told her it might take 6 hours but boy was I wrong it would take about 14 hours
This is true! Some mailboxes have slots under them for this reason. You are not allowed to open a mailbox to put anything in there, that's what the space under them is for. Thanks for sharing your tip and for watching the video!
Keeping the car tidy is a reflection of your company!!! Such a good point!!! I hav about 4 clients rn and I work a regular job but eventually I wanna just clean houses for a living!!! On the way to starting my own up!! Thankyou for all this good info
Oh Angela, as always, you bring it!!!! I am not a housecleaner but I can apply so much of your information to different areas of my life as an independent contractor. Not only are you a top notch knowledable professional, you put up the best videos. I love the way you get straight to the point, and there is no sour distracting music playing in the background, or stray animals walking in front of the camera. You pace your speaking which makes it a pleasure to listen to what you are saying. Your voice draws me in. Shoot, you almost make me want to be a house cleaner (it's just a thought - lol.) Thank you so much for this video and just keep being you, the best!!!
I live in a country where it is easy to have live-in house cleaner, I grow up with one all my life. I was very easy on them they clean when they want what they want, they choose their own schedule, until I decide to have no more live-in and I use house cleaning company once a week, still didn’t know what to tell them to do, until I found your videos, very informative, now I enjoy having them weekly and I even help with an extra hand. I use a lot of your tips for my own business in the service industry. I love your way of talking and your soothing voice.
A “professional “ service came into my home and messed up all my stainless steel. I wish I knew then to ask if they were bonded. I obviously never hired them again. Your channel is excellent even for the general housekeeper :)
I co-sign Mrs. Brown's book. I bought it and read it cover to cover. I live in a complex with 843 units. I'm going to pass out flyers to each unit this week. Thank you for what you do Mrs. Brown. I'm also a member of the Savy Cleaner program I look forward to speaking with you soon.
Woot Woot! I see you just joined our Savvy Cleaner Network FB group as well. I'm so excited to get to know you. Thanks so much for buying my book and for reading it. You make my heart sing. :-) I hope you'll join us in the group mastermind tomorrow at 2:00pm EDT. I'd love to meet you via Zoom. :-)
I've been thinking about started a small cleaning business. I'm so glad I found this channel! I've already watched a ton of videos but I still have a question: do small cleaning businesses ever need their own business space? When a small business expands where are supplies kept and picked up? I hope this isn't a dumb question!
I've been following you for days now. I actually want to use your training videos as a model for workers of my upcoming cleaning company. God Bless You
Thank you for all the valuable info Angela… Just wanted to point out one thing really quick… Companies actually DO trademark colors, please redact/update that info so people don’t end up in trouble with trademarked colors
Thanks Tiffany for the clarification. You are correct a color can be registered as a trademark, as long as it identifies a single source for the products at issue.
@@AskAngelaBrown Yes products or services! Sorry I don’t mean to be a “Karen” I just recently learned about all of this myself and wanted to make sure others knew as well! All your videos are AMAZING Angela! Thank you so much for everything you do!
Hi Angela! First, I love your videos! They are very informative and educational. I just started my own cleaning business less than a month ago. Questions, what does it mean when you say "bonded?" Is the general liability insurance and bond the same or different? How do I acquire a bond for my cleaning business? Thank you in advance for your help! More power and God bless
Welcome to the wonderful world of house cleaning. I'm so happy for you. Here is a video we created on bonding and insurance. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tutviTeViQo.html The bond is a rider that is an add on policy and pays the client replacement costs for items stolen if the client can prove the cleaner stole from them.
I just downloaded your book and I'm excited to start reading. I'm starting my cleaning business and your video's have been so super helpful. Thank you for your willingness to help other's 😊.
I’m so excited to get the one big job!! The money maker so I can invest :) this was a wonderful lineup of questions, sounds like me in the beginning. I’ve bought your hard copy book and I’m ready to follow it to the tee.
Hey House Cleaning Toolbox - fun fact, I personally created the design you are using as your avatar/profile pic. We used it for a t-shirt we created for Funny Cleaning Shirts. amzn.to/2MNFLri Thanks for buying the book. I appreciate you.
@@AskAngelaBrown I love your designs!! “Cleaning is my superpower, what’s yours?” I have amazing ideas for my personal business logo and you’re a huge player in my inspiration. Thanks Angela, your cleaning line is my go to shop. I link to your channel in my description as “inspired by”
Hey I'm reading your book, it says your car needs to be clean. The paint job on my car sucks, it is peeling. Even if I clean it the pain will peel again. Is this fine for now? It does look pretty dodgy.
how do you feel about the commercial cleaning industry? Ive noticed you reference cleaning homes. what about Dr Offices and Lawyer offices. Does the same rules apply?
The commercial cleaning industry is as important as the house cleaning industry. It's just not my specialty. It's like a brain surgeon and a heart surgeon - both are very important jobs but two very different fields. For all your commercial cleaning questions I've got an expert buddy in the field bit.ly/JanitorialStore (His name is Steve Hanson) and he's been in the business 30 some years and can answer any question you have about burnishers, floor pads, chemicals, carts, PPE, hiring, bidding etc. Tell him I sent you, he'll give you the Angela Brown VIP treatment. ;-)
Hi 👋 Angela! Love your videos! Thanks to you,I had the confidence to start my own cleaning business and have been at it for about 4 months now so thanks for that!! I’ve noticed my wrist has been giving me some issues lately, mainly strain pain, obviously it’s from repetitive motion.Have you ever experienced something similar? Have any tips on what I can do to prevent future damage or is it inevitable? Lol. I really enjoy working for myself and I’d hate to have to stop one day because of damage to a part of my body!
Melissa, Congratulations on starting your cleaning business. I suggest you speak to your doctor to rule out anything serious. Once that’s taken care of, I have a blog on health and wellness for house cleaners where I discuss stretch bands. Check it out: askahousecleaner.com/stretch-bands/
Hey Angela! I am a garbage man and do backdoor kitchen garbage pickup, nonetheless I just started a cleaning business for my other 10 hours I have during the day, I will do both commercial and residential. I live in the town I work in, and would love to continue my business that same way. I’m new though so I can’t be bound to any restrictions. Is it unprofessional to promote what I do to the residents I collect garbage from on a bi-daily basis? I will use your flyers for sure and did order business cards. P.S. my RU-vid name is not my business name lol, this is my music page. Thanks so much!
Angela .. i'm asking as a customer. If we ask a cleaner if they are insured, bonded & licensed and they say yes .. how do we know for sure?? Are they required to carry a legal document or card to that effect and is it ok to ask them for proof?
We encourage house cleaners to register with verifymyrecords.com where their insurance information and work eligibility and training are verified through a 3rd party independent company rather than taking the cleaners word for it. If they can't provide a COI (Certificate of Insurance) or 3rd party proof that can be verified - I wouldn't allow them in your home. They are perfect strangers. We live in a world that is crazy and there are scams. You don't deserve crazy or scams. Verify and ask for proof. 👍
Hi I'm just starting out. I have 4 customers plus more people that may call me. I need to know how much should I charge to clean a typical home I will be cleaning alone. I want to be fair . Do I charge by the room ? I'm excited to venture into this business.Thank you for your great information as well 😊 It's very generous of you to to share. 🌻😊
I would have really love to read your books but I couldn't download it because it's not available in my part of the country.......am trying to start my own cleaning business and your video has been helping alot.......am putting together some questions for you ma'am,I hope you could be of help with it....
Hey I just finished your free book. Basically I'm looking to replace my current job, this seems like it would be a great way to do this. If I followed this system I would effectively be self-employed. Down the line I could hire other cleaners and outsource this work? That is my ultimate goal.
If you want to clean at an apartment complex near to your location, how can you leave flyers for everyone without getting into trouble? I don't want to invade anyone's privacy. I was thinking of a small sign to temporarily put up, but I know it's a matter of getting permission to do it. Does anyone have any good ideas? No mailboxes..... it's all locked up. Thought about the laundry room, but that's locked as well.
Lots of homeowners "test" house cleaners to see if they can in fact trust them, and also to see how well they clean. If you find the penny's under the rugs and on top of the door frames, and you don't steal anything - you often will get fantastic recommendations from your clients. Sounds like easy marketing right? LOL. Great points. Thanks for the reminders.
The book is still free on Kindle. Here's the link: How to Start Your Own House Cleaning Company: Go from start-up to payday in one week - amzn.to/2RJ8bAb
Im 47 yrs old Im doing this job but i have slow pace and customer say im too slow But i done very proper cleaning They like my work very much but i cant done my work well if do it faste i really dont know what i have to do thats give me negative vibes 🙁
Just wanted to say I really enjoy your videos. There are only a handful of good cleaning business educators out there, and I love what I've seen from you. Thanks for your clear, quality content and your awesome presentation!
Shop around with other insurance companies in your area. Here is a video on insurance and bonding that can help: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tutviTeViQo.html Thanks so much for watching my video : )
Heyy thanks . Watching your video I had could run my services cleaning..I have a question how can build a paper work with all my services to order and auplies
If you are looking for a worksheet for customers here is a link to mine: savvycleaner.com/worksheets/ Here is a video on cleaning supplies: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MpdMlcX8WvQ.html
How long does it take you to clean a large two sink bathroom that has a tub and glass shower? I take an hour and my client complained that I was taking too long.
An hour seems like a long time. I clean a space that size in 20 minutes, 30-35 if it’s a deep clean (my own bathroom). If the customer leaves a lot of knick knacks on the counter, let them know that moving each thing to clean under it takes longer. They can save time and money but decluttering the counter of all but the essentials before you come over.
+The Ozarks: Journey To Self-Sufficiency no it’s not legal. You will have to put it inside a paper box, or under the front floormat on peoples porches.
+The Dog Daddy Channel no. Only house cleaning. There is however a guy I recommend if you are doing commercial his name is Steve Hanson and he is with thejanitorialstore.com he has a RU-vid channel as well. 👍👍👍
The training for that job should be offered by the company. They will let you know where the supplies are, where the paper products are, when they want each area cleaned, and the process and procedures they would like followed. Each company has it's own way of doing things. Keep me posted, I'm eager to hear how it goes for you.
1) Go to your app store and download the free Kindle app. 2) Then to Amazon and add the free ebook to your library. amzn.to/3rAUiHS 3) Go back to your app and open the book and you can read and keep it for life. FREE. Enjoy!
Hi Anita, there are tons of options for you as far as insurance companies. You probably want to get a general liability policy for your cleaning company to start. Here's a page of the top-rated insurance companies used by house cleaners, you can click through and find one that works for you: savvycleaner.com/insurance-companies-for-house-cleaners/
I have a ? Though. ..when does the customer pay ? What if you clean and they end up not paying after you have cleaned? Any tips and ideas there ? How you guys do this
If you are just starting a cleaning business you do a "walkthrough" with the customer before the job starts. This is where you give the customer an estimate of how long the job will take and how much it will cost. Then you agree to a price and a form of payment. Many house cleaners collect a credit card on file and charge it after the job is done and once the customer approves of the work.
I don't know. I don't have those notes in front of me. Here is a list of videos we've produced so far. savvycleaner.com/ask-a-house-cleaner Maybe you can find it searching by topic.
So the training program, you have to pay 97 dollars per each training section correct? And there is 192 training programs? So to get tips from you, we have to pay a 100 dollars each time? I went on website and that is what I saw. I already ordered book and read. I am needing a list for cleaning supplies now.
Hi and thanks for watching. Residential cleaning is my comfort zone but I've got a good buddy Steve Hanson from The Janitorial Store bit.ly/JanitorialStore who has been in commercial cleaning for 30 some years. He is the go-to guy for all things commercial cleaning. And if you speak with him tell him I sent you, he'll give you the Angela Brown VIP treatment. :-
I believe the first 6 years we were able to offer it free on Amazon, but to stay on their marketplace, they changed our price finally. It's no different I guess than a cleaning business, you can only give so much away free but eventually have to charge to stay in business. And kudos to Amazon, they are now the world's 2nd largest retailer right behind Walmart. Ref: nrf.com/blog/look-2022-top-50-global-retailers
She seriously thinks she’s going to clean five or six homes in a day by herself? Never will happen. She never mentioned anything about getting licensing or insurance. That’s first and foremost before starting the business. Most important thing. Good information, Angela! How I came up with my business name was….. My name is Tobee. I started my business with myself and one employee so I named the business….. Two Bees Cleaning Service 😊 TOBEE=TWOBEES 😂🤷🏼♀️
@@vanessatheurbantarotgoddes2192 Bonding and insurance is protecting yourself against claims by the homeowner. Bumping into a vase and breaking it, using the wrong detergent on their clothes, ruining their stainless steel. 95+% of claims can be avoided by being careful and knowledgeable about what to use when, but you don’t want to be faced with a horrible review and potentially end up in court over damage. Even if it is accidental, you are still on the hook!
Hi Angela, I love your videos. Whenever, I have time I watch your videos. I started cleaning business around 1.5 months ago. My target customers are rich. But, Random customers request for quote I do not these random customers are rich or not. I quote a bit less than my competitors. But still customers think that my prices are too high. As, there are companies who charge $60 for 3 bedroom house for regular clean. But, my competitors are who charge $99 for 3 bedroom house anything extra the price would be extra too. I provide 100% customer satisfaction. I provide best services. The minimum pay rate in New Zealand is 19.00 per hour. So, $60 is nothing because I will not have holiday pay, sick leave etc and I have to pay tax as well. I am wondering where should I go to find rich clients. Any advise will be much appreciated. Thanks a lot.
This is a problem that occurs on a global scale. Everybody wants cleaning for cheap - even the rich and famous. That said, you have to market your services in a way that helps your customers buy from you on value not price.
@@AskAngelaBrown Am a maid in e UAE, almost thru with my contract. , I want to do the same thing in my country, am a single mom can't afford travel again my kids really need me. But am all confused..how to start..how to get customers, what I shd be paid..how to carry my materials daily.. For sure , I can't think of any other job other than continuing with cleaning.
Hello, iam starting in the cleaning business, i dont know how must i communicate/ proposal ,should i include the prices, in the proposal , or just writing to acknowledge the Client that i can clean with or without prices ,then they call//??
When you go on a walkthrough I recommend you give the client an estimate for how much you will charge to clean their home. Check out this playlist on walkthroughs: ru-vid.com/group/PLh1fKdNH3piQZL88sKjQArtkEa9C1ruyM
