Thank you, for your presentation! I am a 69 year old retired man and decided to get a sewing machine and learn to sew. I have been wanting a canvas crutch holder and also a cover for my powered wheel chair. My wife hates sewing. I remember my Dad using my Mothers old Singer sewing machine to make a cover for the family fishing/ski boat, back in the 60's. With help setting up the sewing machine from Mom and a little instruction, Dad made an awesome boat cover. Well I decided if Dad could do it--then--so can I. I bought the Singer 4452 Heavy Duty and had NO idea where to begin. RU-vid is wonderful--I found your channel and you got me started! Thank you!😎🤟
Just got mine in today. So thankful I came across this video, genuinely don’t think I would have been able to thread it and get started without watching this!!! Amazing!
Thank you so much for this video. I have been intimidated to try my hand at sewing. I wound my first bobbin, threaded my first machine, and sewed my first stitches as I watched along with your video. To all the men out there. Sewing isn't just for women!
As a man, I’m well familiar with sewing machines. My mother was a very keen sewer - clothes, furnishings, cushions, curtains, you name it. And she taught me. I’ve had my own machine since I was about 20. I have made my own clothes, but not any more - but any alterations I can do. My wife was amazed to find that I could do all that stuff when we first met 😂. I agree that sewing should be learnt by men too, by the way. 😀
Thank you for taking the time and effort to make this video! I've never sewn before and have been so intimidated to set up my 4452 that I bought. Watching your video, I was able to set it up, load the bobbin, thread the needle all on the first try! You also gave a lot of tips and information that aren't necessarily in the manual but are so helpful for a total newbie like me. Thank you again!
Brilliant! Complete beginner here who has purchased this machine. I have watched quite a few tutorials but yours is by far the best. Thanks for putting in the effort to help a new sewer out! 😊
My sewing machine was sitting untouched for a year and now thanks to your video and thorough tutorial, I set it up and I'm very excited to start my own projects. Thank you!!
This is one of the most thorough and informative videos I have ever watched. I have to admit, I was a little intimidated by the length of the video when I saw the time, but once I started watching it, I was so captivated and it was over (and I gained a TON of knowledge) before I knew it! Thank you for making this!
What a wonderful instructional video! Thank you so much, it was just what I needed. I just purchased a 4452 and feel a lot less intimidated about using it for the first time!
Very informative video, thank you. I have that same machine which is over 2 years old and haven't taken it out of the box yet, afraid of screwing things up!! LOL! I'll have to unbox and try it. Thank you again.
I bought the sewing machine without manual book (was missing) but this video is telling me what to operate and really helpful thank you so much you explained very detail for the beginner like me.
I’m grateful for your videos to aid with my learning curve. I find them very helpful with clear informative directions and the additional thoughtful tips to show safe operating habits are all appreciated
I just bought this machine. Haven't touched a sewing machine since I was a kid, so I scheduled a free lesson that's included but the teacher got sick and had to cancel. This video is probably better than I would have gotten anyway! Thank you so much!
Thanks so much for the details you gave! This is one great lesson! I’m a retired school teacher and I admire your straight forward comprehension instructions! 42:35
After much trial and error, I have found that proper threading of this machine, and especially, proper thread tension is critial for smooth and uniform stitching. Do not rely on just the numbers on the dial to adjust thread tension, because threads vary by size, thickness, weight and composition. You must actually feel the tension by pulling the thread through the tensioner to determine the correct setting. This is easy to do. Simply thread the machine as usual but stop just before putting the thread through the eye of the needle. Lower the foot, and then you can confirm if the thread tension is too tight or too loose by gently pulling the thread through the machine. This is an extra step that no one mentions, but will eliminate many thread problems.
I absolutely loved your video! The only part I had trouble understanding was when you fed the thread down by the foot area. But I will rewatch that part until I get it. I'm 67 years old and have always wanted to sew on a machine, I bought the Singer HD 4432 model. I haven't used it yet I'm still waiting for some supplies to get here, in the mean time I'm getting familiar with the machine. Thank you for taking the time to make this video!
just bought one of these last night because my older machine doesn't do thick stuff and am trying to finish a gift. Anyway, thanks for this video you made , it was very helpful !
Wow! You are an excellent teacher! Learning to sew has been a goal of mine for several years but I’ve had nobody in my life to mentor me. I bought a machine this weekend because I couldn’t attend my classes this semester. I enjoy how thorough you are with explaining all the features and aspects (I’ve taken several notes!) Now I’m not as overwhelmed as I was a few hours ago 😁 Thank you for helping me start my journey!
I just bought this same machine & I’m happy I found your video. Your the only one who actually showed me the correct way to setup & use this bad boy! Thank you! ✌️❤️😁
Thank you so much! This video is very much worth the time it takes to sit down and watch it all the way through. I've been using sewing machine since I was a small child, and I was pretty much self-taught. I just got a singer heavy duty machine and I wanted to know some of the details about it. But I'm not a read the book type of guy, so I generally look for videos that are 5 minutes or less. This gives you so much more information than just how to use the machine. It's like hanging out with your best friend when they do a brain dump for you on their favorite topic.
Thank you so much! You have no idea how much such positive feedback means :) It's a little difficult at times to film and sew, so I'm so happy to know they are helpful! Thanks for watching!
Thank you so very much for this. It is the best and clearest straigthforward directions/instructions. You made learning so easy , building on each concept one by by, You are the BEST! I will keep coming back to parctice till i can do this! Love that accent as well 😂😂😂
Thank you! I bought the machine out of boredom to sew my own tshirts to save some money. I took the machine out and had no idea what to do with it. Your video and the step by step instructions helped a lot.
Thank you for how you explained step by step plus safety tips. Its been years last I used a sewing machine and just bought this model and needed a refresh on threading.
Just wanted to give a huge THANK YOU to you for this video. I just set my first machine up and took my first stitches solo using your guide. Massive help, and I'll probably be referring to your video at least several more times before it's fully filed away.
I was going to get the 4423 machine which is in short supply so I opted for machine in this review, glad I did. I am going to start with a cross sling pouch to carry phone. My project is not a pattern so I will learn seam allowance and mock-up for final design. This is all new to me and will lead to projects which will pay for the machine & supplies. New hobby turned serious. Thanks
Thank you so much. I have mom's Husqvarna from the 70s, and husband bought this for me to update things. (Nowhere to get the oldie fixed up near me!) I loved your video, it was very helpful.
Thank you for this great video. I have been using this exact model for a year or so and have learnt a few things about threading the bobbin and using the better quality thread that I didn’t know. 😃
I have watched a ton of videos and your is the best. You got me started again. I was doing a few things wrong and you showed me the right way. Thank you!!!!!
I feel so glad I watched this whole thing through. I am ready to purchase my 4452 for leather patching and am confident this video will help me with the basics before I start getting into leather. Great video
New to the world of sewing. Soooo helpful! Ordering mine today and will be referring back to your video a ton. Thank you for making this. Very grateful.
Thank you so much:) I just got my first 'real' sewing machine..the 4452 heavy duty, and I think Singer should be paying you! This was so thorough, and made it so easy for me to set it up as I watched you. Now I'm experimenting and making :) Thank you :)
Thank you, Mom! I needed this sewing tutorial #1 I think I am going to buy this exact machine sooner. I want to make my own camping tents and all those stuff.. Thanks again!
this man has never sown anything in his life. Just got the 4452. It seems so daunting. Have not even unboxed it yet. I think i will need to watch your video a few more times or at the same time i thread the machine. Thanks for taking the time to put this video together.
Thank you sooo much. I have just bought this machine and knew nothing about it as there were no instructions. While checking the website for the manual I came across you and you have given the best in depth explanation I could have hoped for. I now know what all those little bits are for. I haven’t seen for around 30yrs and things have definitely changed since my simple little Elna with only about 3 stitches and simple threading. Again, thank you very much. ❤
Your explanations are fantastic! Thank you so much for taking the time to show and tell this machine! I am picking this machine up today and am so excited to start using it, thanks to your video! You are wonderful!!!
Thank you, I just got a 6380 and this is relatively the same as the Singer 6380HD. This is the best instructional video yet for these type of machines. You did a marvelous job and it was very helpful!
Your video came on after I finished another tutorial, but I thoroughly enjoyed your southern country drawl, as well as your explanation. I put my singer away and just sat and listened to your video. Thank you!! 🙏🏽
My husband bought this for me today and I was looking up videos about it. So glad I came across your channel! So excited to keep up with all of your sewing tips!
Bought mine Aug last year, have it shipped here and just opened today LoL. It’s been ages since I had my hands on a sewing machine. Thank you for the detailed “walking me through”. Im excited to try this. Big thanks and goodluck on your channel. Subscribed!
You are absolutely WONDERFUL! I'm a 70-ish man who lives alone and needs to bite the bullet, buy a decent sewing machine, and start repairing my clothes. Actually doing so, however, was a VERY intimidating prospect-until I stumbled on your video this morning. Because of a lot of on-line research, I was leaning heavily toward the 4452, but your patient, friendly instruction has sold me on this machine. And, you have convinced me that-with your help (via videos)-I CAN learn the basics of setting up and sewing with this machine, at least enough to replace buttons, make buttonholes, hem pants, and maybe even make a camo vest from a pattern. To say that I'm grateful is a huge understatement!
Wow amazing video I received this machine for Christmas! Like attending a class! Awesome. My previous machine, 20 years ago was a Kenmore. Thank you so much for this video!
Thank you! I just took my machine out of the box and got going last night. The needle threader about killed me LOL. I messaged Singer about the manual since all I get is a 2 page overview document. Your's is the best vid I've found for a walk through of the machine. Happy stitching!
Very well done. The written Singer instructions that came with the machine left me with some questions but this cleared them all up. It was a great help. I strongly recommend anyone with this machine to have a look at this first.
Thank you! I took a couple of sewing classes awhile ago but just now got my own machine. Your video was perfect to get going. I appreciate your pacing and great camerawork.
You did a fantastic job with this video! Your explanations and demonstrations were so thorough and extremely helpful and easy to follow. I’m looking forward to the holidays being over so I can play with my new heavy duty Singer machine. Oh, and your southern drawl made it even more enjoyable! 😊. Thanks, looking forward to the next video.
Thank you so much!! I was gifted one of these machines, and watching this video was a great way to get started with it!! Excellent explanations and tips. Thanks!

I just bought this model and really appreciate your video which is so clear and detail helping me to start with it. Thanks a lot for your efforts making this awesome video.
