Awesome vid! Starting at 15:08, here is the first demo scenario in a nutshell. Created SSAS Data Model in Visual Studio Deployed Data Model to SQL Server Management Studio -On Prem Connected Power BI to on prem Data Model and created quick report. Also deployed Data Model to Azure Analysis Services, just as easy on cloud as On Prem. Reconnected Power BI to Azure Cloud Data Model to Power BI

Great Video mate all setup perfectly but when we update the data on origin sql server it gets updated on visual studio but when deployed it does not show on analysis services any suggestion regarding the updates not replicating. Thanks again

Great video! Unfortunately, MS has removed the web tool to import and create models in the portal. Now you have to use Visual Studio. I did find a way to export the power bi model and import it into Azure Analysis Services but it's a huge pain.

PBI now has an XMLA Endpoint where you can connect and get the dataset definition which will let you use it to create a model on AAS.

Hi...I am trying to connect Azure SQL DW in Direct Query mode with SSDT and get this error - Failed to save modifications to the server. Datasource has authentication kind OAuth2. This is not supported in DirectQuery 1400 mode. I read in the MS docs that Direct Query mode is not supported with OAuth credentials. Need help.

Hello Yinch, unfortunately no. AAS only supports tabular models. If you want a Multidimensional model on Azure, you will need to have an SSAS Instance installed on an Azure VM.
