Excellent tutorials! However I have 3 question : 1) In both last videos about 3D camera solve you didn't use the "planar surface" to match the surface orientation (like in the first videos). When we should use the planar surface to set how the "geometry" of each surface is (for example a vertical wall or a horizontal ground) ? 2) If we want to put some matt painting or set extensions in our footage like replacing the sky or background for example we can use both techniques. The 2D (let me name it this way) method where we just export the tracking data of interest as nulls in AE, or the 3D camera solver. Is it right ? 3) If we have a footage like the second one in lesson-5 (a car moving in a road), can we solve the camera with 3D solve and mocha ? thanks
You need to install the Mocha 3D Importer plug-in into AE to get that entry in the Edit menu. You can download it from here: borisfx.com/downloads/?&product=Mocha%203D%20Track%20Importer
On Camera Solve 12-13 you describe what needs to de done with two different types of shots. What if one shot has both? A parallax shot fallowed by a PTZ then back to a large parallax. Is it possible to get a camera solve from this kind of shot?
@@borisfxlearn Great idea. Can split the layer in After Effects, and solve accordingly, making the tracking look seamless between the layers can be challenging though
Hey guys! Thakn yo for creaging these tutorials! I am having a hard time importing the 3d camera data. I used the 3d camrea solve to solve the video using tracking data fo rmultiple planes. I can't import the data though. I also downloaded the 3D Camtrea Importer plugin, and put it in the Mocha folder in SupportFiles/Plugins, and even then - I am unable to see this plugin in After Effects. What's more is that when I select the 'Copy to clipboard' option in Mocha, it shows me a dialog/window with an Exclamation mark but no message. I also tried the 'Export to .txt file' and I have the .txt file with me. But no idea how to import this data into Mocha Pro in After Effects. Also, I was wondering, is tihs module going to be deprecated? The last couple of tutorials for this module are from like 5 years ago. Moreover, this module was not included in the More Than the Essentials course. Lemme know, thank you for your help!

Using After Effects 2018 and Mocha Pro 5.6, unable to do a camera resolve, DO NOT see the "Paste Mocha Camera" under AE's Edit menu. Please advice what is wrong.
@@maxrichardson3403 Mocha Pro can also export to FBX, so you could import the FBX into the C4D Lite that is includedi n AE to avoid the Mocha 3D Camera import plugin.
