You are a wonderful teacher amd I love your work. Please consider advising people on proper health measures-always wear a particulate mask or sand wet. Breathingbin polymer clay dust can lead to serious health conditions. Thanks!

Hi there! I love your tutorials, thanks for being so clear! Please, do you think you can show howl to insert the buffing pads yourself in the dremel?I have bad time with the metal part that hold the pads. It comes out of the dremel, and other times the pads get out. Thanks!

Hi Samantha, I was wondering whether you have a tutorial on how to make these beautiful pendants shown here, or more specifically, how to make them into earrings? I think I have already watched your watercolour one and the one with the silver leaf, so the only bit missing is the middle cane, which I am fascinated by. Do you have any video explaining how to make this cane? I would love to be able to put this together. I can't see the complete tutorial on your etsy page. Your videos are absolutely amazing and so very well explained.

Hello Jessica. I’m trying to do this craft. Have made a few shapes etc but none of them are turning out. I am mainly at the rolling clay through pasta maker and cutting out shapes and baking, but they come out pliable. Do you have a tutorial for complete beginners from cutting out shapes to baking etc. I am not in a position to go and have lessons so hopefully you can point me to where to start as I have bought Scupty small blocks and using them. Thank you for your beautiful tutorials, you are a true artist at your craft.

I finally found sanding paper of 400, 600,800 and 1000 and I hallpily bought them, aaaand now I find out there are even higher grits :D ooook :D also, I am looking at a rotary tool that is cheaper then a dremel... wonder if it will work
@Kementiri
@Kementiri 4 года назад
Very informative and nicely explained:) On a side note whenever I use a dremel tool to try and buff something the piece I am buffing flies out of my hand so I am not doing something correctly :(
@JessamaTutorials
@JessamaTutorials 4 года назад
You need to hold the piece tightly and not press it against the buffing wheel to hard. Make sure that the wheel is spinning in such a way that if the piece does get caught, it won't fly into you.
@pattallant2398
@pattallant2398 Год назад
How long do you send with each paper? And how long should the total time be as you work through the different grits?Oh my question was answered as I continued watching your video. :-)

Just got the polish papers from you and I had to put this on because I wasn't sure if I was supposed to use water but, no.🙂 How long do they work? The papers? Love all the things you send to me and the blade is very sharp 👌
@JessamaTutorials
@JessamaTutorials Год назад
I don't use them in water. I tend to first use wet\dry sandpaper in water. Then use the polishing papers without water. They work a fair amount of time so long as they're being used to polish and not grind away at a lot of clay. To clean them, just wash with soapy water and scrub with a toothbrush.

Hello ! Your work is fantastic ! Why don't you sand with water to avoid inhaling fine particles in the air. Would the result be less interesting ? (but better for the health) When you bake your creations, what about ventilating ? Can we use the oven after that for baking food ? Thank you for your answer !

At the 10 minute mark, what I'm seeing is the exact opposite of what you're saying, but I'm guessing that's the difference between camera and reality. Once it's buffed it looks amazing though!
@JessamaTutorials

Yes. I can see that on the camera. It partially the angle I held the pieces at and also it being on camera and not reality.

Hi Samantha 😊 what kind of polishing tip you use? I saw quite a few different - felt, cotton, cashmere. And I have no idea which one I should use for polymer clay. Best wishes from Poland and thank you for such great course ❤ which is perfect for someone who is just starting - like me for example 😉

I use a cotton tip. I specifically use this buffing wheel. www.etsy.com/au/listing/633937925/rotary-tool-buffing-wheel-for-polymer?click_key=a3710adf3264e492de7d536c7012d4c4970528c7%3A633937925&click_sum=a57ab920&ga_search_query=wheel&ref=shop_items_search_1&frs=1&crt=1&sts=1

What about textured pieces or ones with crevices?
@JessamaTutorials
@JessamaTutorials 6 месяцев назад
I tend to not sand those or will just give it a light sand to highlight the texture.

What can you seal with other than resin to protect things like perfume spray, or just over all ware amd tear? I saw on a video where perfume can actually start to designate the piece. What would you recommend? Thank you as I loved the video!
@JessamaTutorials
@JessamaTutorials Год назад
There are a few ways you can seal polymer clay without the need for resin. Gloss varnish, matte varnish and liquid clay all work well. However, I'm not sure if they'd work in regards to perfume. I've never tried using that on polymer clay and I'm unsure how it would react with the clay or sealer.

Hello. I am using 600 grid, 800 grid and 1000 grid sand paper and some of my pieces still have white scratches. Where am I wrong? How can I get rid of them? I wipe the pieces at the end with a little alcohol and a cotton pad but after they dry the white scratches appear again.
@JessamaTutorials
@JessamaTutorials 3 года назад
You need to go up to at least a 2000 grit to remove the white scratches.

Should we be concerned with breathing dust by sanding with dry polishing papers?
@JessamaTutorials
@JessamaTutorials 4 года назад
Not unless you are sanding away a lot of clay. My clay is pretty smooth after baking and I only need to spend around 30 seconds on each paper to get it shiny. However if you are planing on doing heavy sanding, use wet-dry sand paper in a sink of water.
@denmar6431

Wondering how you handle beads?
@JessamaTutorials
@JessamaTutorials 4 года назад
I don't sand beads. I roll them out when they are raw with glove on and bake them on a piece of paper. It provides pretty smooth surface. I then coat in either resin or gloss varnish. Sanding takes too long and generally causes flat spots and doesn't look great.
