I appreciate so much the time, effort and willingness in breaking down this field that is very foggy - if I may - and really get to know the experience from someone who's reached a certain stability in it, but is also not selfish or afraid to share one's knowledge and struggles and even play with the variety of jobs and opportunities that it has to offer. I'm just now trying to get started as a translator (among other jobs in this field) and I can't get over your channel, it is SO GOOD. Thank you so much, Adrian. Keep it up. I'll make sure to tell you how it went for me down the road. Cheers.
Wow what wonderful words, thank you Pedro! :) i strongly believe in the fact that the more you give, the more you get back. So I definitely don't have any problems sharing what I learnt over the years. And I'm still learning everyday from others with the same mentality. I'm very happy to hear that this is received that way :)
Wonderful video as always; thank you, Adrian! I just set up my Proz profile today and was looking for next steps, which I definitely got from watching this. It was great to hear from someone at Proz itself, and both you and Paul were so encouraging to newbies like me. Your channel has really inspired me to take meaningful steps towards becoming a freelance translator and I am so grateful! I'm excited to poke around on Proz and make my profile even better using Paul's tips. For any viewers who haven't set up their profile yet, it is very easy. The completion bar is super helpful, and there are additional encouraged fields you can fill out behind the required ones. It took me about 45 minutes for initial setup, and I'll go back and make a few tweaks now. Good luck, fellow newbies!
@@Freelanceverse I'm still very much in the process of forming my profile. I'm trying to reflect over the details and wrap my head around all the different functions, but it seems like a great platform.
Thank you for such a helpful video! As a recently graduated Literary and Technical-Scientific Translator, I was thinking about joining to ProZ lately, and this video encouraged me to get started right now. Saludos desde Argentina!
@@Freelanceverse at that moment I try to answer all the posted jobs I think fit my profile. I receive them directly in my email so I can see whether these interest me or not. I have started receiving direct messages too and when I have time I go to the agencies directory and send emails to the ones working in my language and specialisation. I am very lucky that I got back my investment (and more) the same week I paid my membership.
Hi Gema, I’m starting out as a freelance translator. Just finished my first paid project (not for an agency but with a direct client.) May I ask, how did you get started? Did you have to obtain any degrees or certificates? TIA
Hi! I really love your videos and right now I'm focused on getting my translation degree, but soon as I'll get it I'll defintely get back to your videos which I'm sure will be of great help to kickstart my freelance translator career! I was wondering if you could make a video on the best terminology databases, perhaps a top 10, or just a video with some of the best ones divided by areas they cover. Thanks again for everything you do for the community!
Hi there! Congrats for your videos. I'm trying to work as an interpreter in the medical sector. I registered in ProZ. I'm going through the platform but its quite confusing tbh..how do i start getting calls? anyone can help me going straight to the point? I refuse to pay membership until i know how it works..any tutorials that you sugest? Im based in Argentina btw
What calls do you mean? Calls from clients? You will not get that, you need to go out there and find clients and reach out to them. You will only get contacted from clients, once you established yourself in the industry.
Thank you so much for the video. It’s very useful. I am Ukrainian and have a Bachelor degree in English philology - English teacher (ukr&russian fluent) but my professional cv has IT experience. I would like to consider proz for a part time freelance but don’t know how to apply with my CV as there is no relevance to most jobs expect that I have a diploma, English C1 proficiency and that’s it. Could you advice on that please ? :)
How about contracting? How is that done on proz? At upwork that is easier. I dont have any idea how to make a contract with a client and this isn’t explained here
Hi Aidan, work would be going great, but unfortunately my health doesn't keep up 🤐 getting sick too much so I cant do what I actually would like to. But hopefully soon it'll be better. How is it for you?
