I´ve been a vendor manager for over 8 years now and I can only agree with what has been said in this video. It really works like that! Very hands-on and specific, valuable tips for freelancers.

Your video are making more and more sense with each repeat viewing. It's like, the more you know about how freelancing works, the more sense everything makes, and the more you realize how much work you actually have cut out for you xD

Very useful, thank you! I've been doing JP> EN translations as a "side job" for some years, but now I want to become a full-time translator. I've watched many of your videos and I really like them, they are so clear, helpful and you explain the real troubles and questions that beginners have.

Hi Adrian, just wanted to thank you for so generously sharing nuggets of wisdom that I know will be super helpful for freelancers who are just starting out! I've been dabbling in translation on the side for a number of years but some of your pointers never even crossed my mind! I'll bear your tips in mind going forward - and keep these quality videos coming! (when you get the time!)

I have always had good experiences with sending my CV directly in the first email (when there is no application form) but I'll try your suggestions, maybe I get more positive results. Thanks for this video :)

Definitely don't change anything that is working for you :) things work different for everyone and especially in different countries that I don't know about. Just sharing my experience :) good luck!

Funny how I just sent 2 emails to 2 different agencies and then this video was recommended to me... It's scary how funny, ironic and kind of sad life can be hahaha. If I had seen this video 5min earlier I would've completely changed the way I approached them. Anyway... living and learning, am I right? Thanks for the tips, Adrian :) Thanks to you I'll do better next time.

Oh nooo :D sorry to hear that it came to your feed too late. But hopefully it will help you next time. And who knows, maybe you did everything right with your approach :) these kind of tips that I give are not set in stone, it depends on so many variables. Good luck, Pedro, and thanks for watching!

Interesting info about the domain email address 🤔, I was going to create a Google adress. I am going to review my plan instead and find something more professional 🙂 Thank you
@Freelanceverse

I would really refrain from using the google, yahoo, outlook types. In my opinion it gives off a much more professional vibe to have a proper domain.

Hey Adrian have you made a video about how to find direct Clint and then what to say to them?
@Freelanceverse
@Freelanceverse Год назад
Hi Abhinav, hmm not directly. I made a 2part series on finding a client live on camera. That had some of these aspects in it. But it's definitely a good idea for next year!

Hey Adrian, what website (or service) do you use/recommend to send emails from your professional custom domain, rather than Gmail?

Hi Leonardo, I use Bluehost where I host my website and also bought a custom domain email address from.

Hi, @Freelanceverse - Adrian Probst, What is the best way to contact a sports-related RU-vidr to propose a translation/transcription? Twitter or RU-vid comments section?
@Freelanceverse
@Freelanceverse 2 года назад
I'd say try both :) also check if they have an email address in there. If the RU-vidr has a channel of similar size than me, then comments is fine. But if it's much bigger, it wil be tough to get noticed there.
@acorntranslations3335
@acorntranslations3335 2 года назад
@@Freelanceverse Hi, I'm talking about RU-vidrs much bigger than you; no email in there. (Before asking for help I always research everything and try to resolve problems myself.) Also, I find that it can be difficult for people who are passionate about their work to charge by the hour because one can get carried away translating and not really know how many hours went into the job. What to do?
@Freelanceverse
@Freelanceverse 2 года назад
@@acorntranslations3335 hmm okay, if they don't provide any contact information, it will be difficult to get noticed. I assume they don't really want to get contacted then :D Maybe figure out what their preferred communication channel is (twitter, insta, youtube community tab ...) and then reach out to them there. Maybe reply to a story or something. I think that will be your best shot. Oh yes, that's a good point, you would usually estimate the costs beforehand to the client, right. You would say this will take me roughly 5 hours +/- 10%. If you then realize during the job that it is not possible in this time, you should reach out to the client early enough and let them know. If for some reason you can't change the amount you get paid anymore, then it should be a lesson for next time. Slowly but surely you will realize how long jobs take you. I can guesstimate it pretty accurately by now.
