Great video! One thing you missed is that instead of panning your binoculars upwards or downwards in order to reduce or increase shell falling distance you can go into controls and set the mouse wheel to distance correction. Then you'll be able to reduce or increase distance by scrolling while having your reticle right on the ship.
Dipped a toe a few years back, but just now really giving it a go and this helps a lot to solidify what I have been learning on my own, as well as explaining "ranging shot" which I would never have figured out on my own 😀
naval is the only thing that really interests me in this game anymore, just off the sheer cool factor of the big boats. Ive got 4k hours total in the game and several top tier lineups, im all tanked and jet'd out.
Great guide I tried navy last bp challenge and it was actually really fun and then I tried again yesterday to get SL and fun again so I think I’m gonna play it more
I'm just casually grinding naval, enjoying it as much as I can. But the game only begins when Kaga(1942) will join the game...... and as long as she's out there, the Hood will never sink.
At Top Tier? You mean that Top Tier that has 80% of the time no Domination Mechanics?^^ Even at mx BR 5.3 or 5.7 Matches sometimes Gaijin forgets about cap zones and make Boats irelevant and on some Maps Destroyers can shoot right into the the Boat Spawns. And while some frigates can fight against Destroyers like the Köln Class or the SRKs or Japanese Ayanami. The Biggest Issue often is, Frigates have less armor and Crew and are mostly alot slower than Destroyers, making them basically a Sitting Duck in the Destroyer Spawn and everyone trying to kill them first. When the BOT User Spam was still live, they were often Set up to Target Frigates first and would shoot you from across the Map as soon as you spawned and wreck you because of your lacking speed to dodge.^^ Some Maps need Reworks and Frigates need their own Spawn. And Early Destroyers start at BR 3.3 to 3.7. 4.3 -4.7 already have pretty advanced and Meta Destroyers, with soo much secondary guns, they wreck most Air and Boat Threads easily.
They'll come to PC eventually. The external model may be finished but the internal machinery for damage model is far more complex in PC. In mobile version the damage model is more simple.
literally earlier today, I went into a match with my 5.3 US lineup and spawned in with the USS Atlanta, I quickly realised it was an up tier and was ammo racked by a battleship within the first 3o seconds
@@Archmagos_Faber yeah, I agree that they don't give it enough attention. Them skipping the naval event was a kick in the nuts for the people who enjoy naval, especially since the last few event vehicles like the mortar tank and Chinese artillery tank are crap IMHO.
One thing about crew interchangeability: if you’re running a dedicated PT boat slot in your lineups, check before you invest in the skill. Boats with small crews sometimes get literally zero benefit from upgrading the skill to max because of the way it’s calculated. You can see how the number of crew increases by hovering over the little bar. Also I like the fire prevention skill, haha. And the spotting ones are pretty useless but they can be good for grinding up the total crew level a bit if you’re trying to expert the crew.
3k hours in planes and ships, naval is in one of the weirdest places rn since 2019. Hopefully with the addition of WW2 battleships and subs there will be a real naval change.
I think conquest is way worse than encounter, and the criticisms you leveled against encounter can more accurately be made of conquest. Half the conquest maps are (essentially) open sea, (and if they aren't open sea then it's fucking south kvarken that blatantly favors the west-spawn team with that island in the southern half of the map) with nowhere for cruisers to hide and no use for coastal vessels except for very special ones. Plus in encounter, cruisers have an obj they can play for to win the match like in domination, vs in conquest they just have to target other cruisers lest they get swatted by a BB.
I pre ordered Marat, its the most expensive thing I've ever purchased, and have played to fund for SL gambling and also used it to distribute crew points to fully upgrade my ground crew with millions of RP I do not endorse feeding the snail but the RP gain was unexpectedly high and in a few months of playing it when I wanted pay to win big SL gameplay... I made more ground crew training progress on four crews than I had made since I started playing the game 😣 Shame on the snail Btw I only bought Marat bc I had already played naval and knew how much bias protects the ammunition on those ships 💪💪
43:11 those rockets irl were basically a hybrid rocket/depth charge where it could be used to destroy submarines, ships and most importantly torpedoes which they had good sonar coupled ballistic computers for.
I try to fly really close to sea level, you're gonna 100% die, but if you can hit a ship with a few 1000lb bombs, you're gonna hurt him too :) other than that you can try to cover your plane with a hill as long as possible, if you get out of cover and enemy ship is like 4-5sec away, no chance you can reach the ship. air is pretty much useless, I mean you can do kamikaze runs, but it's almost impossible to survive an attack on ship if it (or surrounding ships) has AA protection.
Your accent was a little heavy, but I think you said at about 55:45 to repeat, "The force never dies". I have been considering destroyers and frigates, fast and maneuverable, but big enough to not die too quickly. Moffet and Frank Knox look like good fits, but the soviet Project 56 vessels with 13cm twin mounts and RBU6000 rockets deserve honorable mention. Does a person have to upgrade to higher tiers or larger vessels when they reach that 4.7-5.0 plateau with those sorts of vessels?
Great guide, thank you! I'm more of a Ground RB player, but with the battlepass tasks requirements to play Naval, thought it would be best to learn it and might start enjoying this mode. I think you haven't covered low caliber weapons ammunition - would you say it is better to use HE/SAPHE for the lower tier coastal (40mm is very common) or AP is better for this?
Make sure that you stay on your heels, even out of spawn, because someone will torpedo your spawn, and you might get yourself an unrepairable breach or die.
I would love to play naval as it feels slow paced enough not to give me a heart attack like BR10.0+ GRB. Concerned that there arent enough players however, is this true?
Rate of fire and top speed; don't really help you in game though. In real life, the smaller cruisers could travel further than BBs, and be far cheaper, due to only having a small crew. Obviously this doesn't make a difference in game
@@SAKOSNIPER Yeah I meant as far as gameplay in War Thunder goes. Not that World of Warships is a good example to follow but atleast DD's have the benefit of being harder to spot.
I cannot perform well in air and ground forces, but I enjoy playing naval battles, especially with my powerful German battleships, which my experience plays a high role. Also ı, I have Nurnberg with 3x3 150 mm cannons with 5 sec reload time, which lets me grind naval forces easily. In most games, ı run out of whole ammunition, 1000 pcs, without die. In some situations, ı continues fighting with 8,8 cm guns after 150 mm ammunition runs out.
