Just got mine on Saturday as a birthday gift to myself! I’m super excited because of all the possibilities that the machine offers. This is going to be great!
I never understand VIDEOS without verbal instruction. We just supposed to figure out what’s going on. Oh we need to touch that piece. Then slide that on. Ok. Thanks so much.
I guess it just depends on the person. Personally i find this so much easier, when someone is talking its so confusing and hard to follow. This way i can see what they are doing and copy it
I have Cameo 4. It is nice for cutting paper but it is totally disappointing for thicker materials. Kraft blade is almost useless, I tried several materials with many different settings and works around. It takes a lot of effort adjusting blade each time manually, so it can cut a little bit deeper each time. It almost feels that I could better use scissor than kraft blade. It is very frustrating.
Hello, I just got my new cameo 4 & I’m having problems getting the auto blade to cut my card stock right. I have been searching a lot on you tube & it seems that not that many people do paper crafting. There’s a lot of info about vinyl even from you guys on silhouette. Can you do more tutorials about settings for paper. I have 110lbs cardstock & coverstock which is on your settings is not cutting it. I have switch blades, make sure the blade is properly placed & locked. My mat is placed properly as well. I have a cricut air & it cuts that cardstock, I’m just hoping I didn’t waste my money because all the focus for the cameo is on vinyl. Please help
I do papercrafting projects as well as journals and planners. I'm also struggling to find videos for tutorials with different paper projects. There are a lot of vinyl videos but I'm not working in any vinyl projects right now. I mostly got this machine to deal in paper, like 50% and then a mix of other projects with the other 50 percentage of uses.
Veronica44h yeah that’s all I do is scrapbooking for my kids pictures & it’s frustrating cuz all their focus is on vinyl. I even left a message in silhouette you tube page but they haven’t answered if they’re planning to do any tutorials. If you find anybody that have good videos let me know & I will do the same for you
Thanks for the video! I've just bought one Cameo 4 but i've very low experience with such machines and also with what type of vinyl / papers or material i can use and with which blade or force etc etc. Is there any videos that can help you on this stage?
Hi! Welcome to Silhouette! We hope you're enjoying your machine so far. Silhouette 101 has a lot of tutorials and videos that help beginners. You can find it here: www.silhouette101.com/videos/basics
Hopefully this one does better with vinyl rolls. My current one always give me issues cutting larger vinyl projects. The vinyl goes in straight then rolls out of the rollers 🤦♂️
Takes a different knife cartridge to cut cloth ... IDK, looks like it might not handle cloth or other material that doesn't have a backing sheet very well IDK.
I'm excited to get the black Cameo 4! Will you also be coming out with a new version of the Curio? I'm intrigued by some of the projects you recently featured in the Maker Studio series, but don't want to buy a Curio if you're going to release a new one soon.
Hi, I just bought a new laptop because the one I had was too old and wasn’t letting me setup my cameo 4. However I was able to register it and now that I’m trying to set it up on my Mac laptop it’s not letting me continue with the setup. It says that the number has been registered already and not letting me continue with the setup. I need to instal the program and I can’t... please help🙏
The cameo 3 was great but im waiting on my Silhouette cameo 4 to be deliver this video makes so excited. Can you please let me know what kind of transfer paper that is?
It would be nice if there was better documentation for someone who has never used one of these before. I plan on using mine for stickers and this isn't helpful. The manual also seems to skip steps. I guess I'll troll RU-vid to figure this out. Disappointed so far.
This was not a good tutorial, had to keep stopping and rewinding and the music was distracting. Just have someone explain it, don't try to make a music video.
Hi Lisa! Thank you so much for your feedback. We really appreciate it because we are constantly trying to improve the user experience! Are you looking for a slower, more detailed walkthrough of getting started with this machine? Is that what would be more helpful? Or something else? :)
sending it back after 2 hours of being stuck initialising nothing ... what a piece of junk comes as standard not working you have to troubleshoot for hours to get it to work
@@dianeb2313 what wifi button? I'm having the same issue. The blue light is on for bluetooth and says it's all connected but wont send to cutter. I see your post is old so hopefully you had luck in starting yours.
I can t download the Software svg Files (Autocad, productions software - software i using very often). Because my europeen Kreditcard not works in the USA. Thats why i not can use this stupid plotter. it s for nofing.
I think it just depends on what you're familiar with. I'd only used Silhouette software for years and found the Cricut design space to be really confusing. Had to work with it enough times to get the hang of it. Stick with it and you'll get it!
Lisa Sisneros I agree! There is so much more design freedom in Silhouette Studio than Design Space as well! It takes a time investment, but learning studio is definitely worth it!
As I understand it, to use Cricut software you have to have an internet connection because you have to send your completed design to Cricut to be compiled and, if you read the fine print in their user agreement, if you send them a design then they own it and can publish it to others and charge them to use your design and Cricutt keeps the money. Not for me. Not very experienced with either product, if I am wrong about any of this please correct me. And another note in passing ... Both Cricut and Silhouette are sold in the arts and crafts market. They both come with a library of patterns that are easy to use. If you don't need the library, you can buy a professional grade vinyl cutter for less than either product costs new and the professional cutters come with open source design software which lets you draw or you can import .jpg, .bmp, or .dwg/.dfx files. The professional and Silhoutte machines beat Cricut because you can design essentially infinite length patterns with them, while Cricut limits you to basically a square format which is little or no longer that the cut width capacity of the machine
Cricut software requires an internet connection because you must send your completed design to Cricut to be compiled into cutter language. If you read their user agreement carefully, it says that any design you send them they then own and can publish it to others and even charge others to use your design and they keep the money. Not for me. Also Cricut design space is limited in height, even though it may be cutting roll stock the biggest shape you can cut is little if any longer than the width of the machine. IMO, if you don't need the library of designs furnished with either Cricut or Silhouette, look for a professional grade vinyl cutter for less than the new purchase price of either C or S. The professional machines come with open source software that lets you draw your own or import .jpg, .bmp, or .dwg/.dfx files.
I absolutely hate this machine! I made a couple of cuts, great. Purchased some cut files, cannot use them as sketch, whatever. Try to cut more images (simple cut files, very basic) and it keeps trying to look for registration marks as if its a print/cut file. About to throw this out the window! HATE
