Loved this! I need to do the same with our goats as they prepare for breeding. I've noticed people often project their own emotions onto animals but the truth is animals don't fear death, only pain. They aren't aware of their own existence and so they don't fear not existing. Death is all around us in nature and it's simply part of a cycle -- we can't avoid it and neither can our animals. As an owner, you have to make these hard decisions. I refuse to accept the idea of spending thousands of dollars to save an animal when children are dying of starvation in this world. We can care for animals while also putting them down. You're such a great example, Crystal, of somebody who manages their goat herd with wisdom and care. ❤️

Crystal you do a great job and culling is a part of living on a farm. It is the reality of farm life, someone has to make the hard decisions. You keep your chin up and continue making responsible decisions. I would have no respect for you if you didn't. As you said she will still be providing for your family just in a different way. Culling is necessary when on a farm and especially when your breeding for a certain standard. It’s hard for people to understand unless they’ve done it.

Anyone who has watched this channel more than a couple of times KNOWS how much you love your goats. The work, the tears, the worry... we see it all because you don't hide anything from us. Anyone who has watched for a while knows the work you put in for Val and her surprise quads... the tears over the little one who didn't survive and then the worries and care over Venus. I am incredibly sorry that people are upset over a very hard decision you had to come to. I was brokenhearted when you told us, not for myself but for you because we all watched it unfold. Good for you letting your viewers understand that you will not be brow-beaten into doing something that isn't best for YOUR ranch. Much love and respect from NC. ❤

A lot of the negative comments are from city dwellers who have not lived on a farm. You have a certain level of healthy genetics you try to breed towards. You need to cull any deformities so they are not passed down your breeding line. You have to do this. It isn't a choice. You also have to feed your family. That is part of the reason you are doing this. Keep up the good work. I love watching your videos. Hugs, Bobbi

Ranching is hard! Feed ain’t cheap! And you gotta eat, and pay bills just like everyone else! It is not for everyone! I was raised on cattle ranch and dry land farming in west Texas . The daily decisions are tough at times! It is not for everyone! I agree with Crystal and her family and send good karma and prayers your way! Hang in there! I'm here for the cute and floofy. However, I cannot stand in judgement of a rancher harvesting their own food or making a judgement call for the betterment of their herd...their life, and no one else should either. Especially when dealing with show quality animals. That's all I'm gonna say about that. I loved seeing them all (even the puppies and Bruiser!) with their names listed. A few of them I hadn't learned their names yet and this video was very helpful in seeing them and their names alongside. They're all so pretty...but Lodi is still the most beautiful girl in the world...and Lucky is the most handsomenest boy!!!! I'm so chuffed over breeding season!!! I can't wait to see who you paired with whom. And all that snoofing the boys do when they see the girls cracks me up! Everest was the best snoofer last year by far lol! =))

The wethers new home is awesome!! So happy you all got the does done next time the bucks. The ending was a true life on a farm. Realness and truth!! Love this channel!! I have had to cull my flock of chickens cause of illness and for food. I also sell them to people whom want to buy chickens. Nothing wrong with it it is the full circle of what goes on a farm. Sounds like we will be breeding about the same time again lol. We will have 17 doe’s to breed and some quality milkers who earned their starts will be available for home milkers. Venus was a hard choice you had to make, and people need to respect that. Ranching/farming/homesteading is not for the faint of heart. Awesome video presentation...we all have "Karens" in our lives no matter what occupation we have. I have a degree in dairy science, grew up on a dairy and have milked many goats so, have a firm understanding of where you are coming from. Crystal, it has been obvious since the first video I ever watched on your channel how much care you and your family give all of your animals. They are each so precious to you all. Equally obvious is how much thought goes into every decision you all make regarding your ranch. From food to stalls to fencing to health checks and maintenance to breeding to cooking, and everything in between. There is absolutely zero doubt that whatever decision you make regarding any of your animals is going to be what is the absolute best possible one for your family, and them. Hard decisions are so easy for those of us to make from the outside. Those of us who have no idea what it is like to run a ranch. I am so pleased you tell the truth about Ranching and the tough decisions you must make for the benefit of your BCDG stud. The "Karens" just do not understand and thanks for taking the time to call those that are ignorant out for their unfair comments. Keep up the great work. I really enjoy your vlogs. I find it really inspiring how strong you have to be in order run a ranch properly. I know personally just from watching your videos how much you care for your animals and want the best for them. It is sad when things like this happen, but it’s definitely apart of life, and you have to role with the punches as they’re dealt to you. Keep your head up Krystal. You’re amazing and thank you for being an inspiration to many others on your channel.

I'd just dress Lodi up in costumes all day lol! I think she would be an adorable spider for Halloween! Or put little bat wings on her...If I had Lodi I would put a sparkly rhinestone necklace on her, buy her a velvet couch for the living room and get her a support animal card so she could go grocery shopping with me...then turn her loose in the produce section! Love, love, love Miss Lodi!!

I know how hard it is when you have to do the right thing for the breed and your herd. Personally I dealt with this as well this year and I was extremely dissappointed as mine was also a doeling I had planned to retain. It’s something that can happen that is out of our control. Keep your head up! You are doing the right thing! ❤️❤️❤️

Love love love your channel, just found it recently. You love your babies so much to hell with the ones that judge hard decisions, it's life and part of the cycle.
