Bryan Van, You're absolutely one of the most knowledgeable bike mechanics I've ever seen in my entire life. I bet you are a beast on the track as well. Haven't had the pleasure to see you or max on the track yet, but I bet its entertaining.
I just found your channel and thank you for your honest opinions l. As a new rider it can seem overwhelming but I feel more confident and a lot safer from watching your videos !
Max Van and I were there. We were both riding in the Advanced sessions so perhaps we were on track when you stopped by. I am sure we will be there again at some point this year. That is my #1 favorite track. - Van
Love your videos, I just got a used ninja 400 and I want to change out the spark plugs and do a valve check on it soon. I saw your r3 spark plug video and assume it's pretty similar. Do you plan on doing a video on valve checks and time?
No I just send the motors out to be done when we get to that point. IMO you do not really need to dig into the valves unless you have a ton of miles on the bike. - Van
Great video. Barber is a fun track. I had a guy that was going too fast into a turn trying to pass me on the inside and hit me. I had a low slide and the guy that hit me stayed up, LoL. Questions, you mentioned yesterday that you bought your son a new race suit and boots. Can you share what those were?
We put Max in the Alpinestars GP Tech V3 Suit, Astars Tech Air Race Vest, Shoei X-14 Helmet, Astars GP Pro R3 Gloves and Astars Supertech R Boots. He has now crashed 3 times racing this year (one he was taken out) and all of it has held up well. The suit still looks great, we did have to replace the helmet due to damage. - Van
Hey guys, love the video. I have a 2018 Ninja 400. I want to start racing. I took a race focused class with my cbr1000rr and I can absolutely see I need to start much lower on the totem pole. I am about you size exactly. My question to you is, do you think I should convert my 400 to a track bike or get something else a little larger? I have found lots of used track bikes for sale that could work. I know "used" is its own variable. To get the 400 up to speed will cost some coin. I am willing to do so but to what end. I am a novice by all means. I would like to race whatever bike for at least two to three season. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I prefer the synthetic lube over the wax for use on the track. If you are a street rider and do not mind the white color the chain was will last longer between applications. - Van
I use the synthetic chain lube too, but i find ittl fling, no matter how much i wipe or let it sit for days... Also if i use mppl before chain lubing it flings more... I love how its clear but... I would use the cleaner, rinse off, dry, then mppl , dry then lube.. But now i clean, rinse w water, dry.. Then use synthetic lube, i skip mppl.. Any advice on fling brian?
Amigo que tal, soy de Argentina y aca las ninjas y z entran con 45 HP , pero veo que en otros Paises hay de 49 HP... Me puedes decir por que la diferencia? algún cambio en el motor o la electrónica?
He's from Argentina and the ninjas down there only have 45 HP, but in other countries they come with 49. He wants to know why there's so much of a diff- is it because of an electronic thing or is it a restrictor plate thing. Hablo.
la principal diferencia se debe a las leyes de su país. algunos países limitan los caballos de fuerza por el tamaño del motor utilizando tanto electrónica como ciertos tipos de hardware
Is this an abs bike? I have a ninja 636 abs and wanted to do a flush. Is it the same process? What brake fluid do you recommend for a novice rider like me?
I'm not a certified tech, but when I flush brake fluid like that on my ABS bike it's fine, the system always has brake fluid in it, just need to make sure that the reservoir is always has some fluid in it.
Yes this was an ABS bike, I removed all of that so it no longer is. We are using Motul RBF600 Factory Line Racing Brake Fluid in all of our bikes. Here is a link to that on our site: www.sportbiketrackgear.com/motul-rbf600-factory-line-racing-brake-fluid/
