I learned some new tips from your video, thank you. I have been a contributor to Find A Grave for 14 years. Recently I've noticed that others have taken over management, without contacting me, of my memorials that include my photographs, my bio information, and vital statistics of my ancestors I have researched over 50 years. Now I can only "suggest edits" with their permission, instead of making the edits myself on my memorials. Some of these managers have only been members for less than one year, some have tens of thousands (or hundreds of thousands) memorials that they manage, and some have their own rules. This is very disappointing and something needs to be done about it.

Peter, this is a perfect introduction to Find A Grave and the apps. I greatly appreciate how you succinctly introduce the website including the newly added features. I have built my personal family tree so my relatives can easily see their family tree and learn more about their ancestors and relatives without cost and no software to install. Thank you for making and sharing this video.

Thanks, Peter, for the informative presentation. My husband and I have used Find a Grave for many years, and we learned some new things from it. I particularly liked learning about the similar spellings feature.

Does anyone know why family search does not allow screenshots of find a grave as sources? I don’t know how to produce the link like they actually sometimes offer as a source. M

I have been going to Find a Grave for about 7 years. One thing about the site are the photos taken. I wish people would clean the stones off before they take the picture. This is probably the only photo of the memorial and should be the best possible.
@tlcooper2.0
@tlcooper2.0 8 месяцев назад
You aren't allowed. People barely know how to take a decent photo but you want them to scrub stones with the wrong items or use inappropriate chemicals? NO. Besides, we're VOLUNTEERS, not paid employees!
@tonyd3698
@tonyd3698 8 месяцев назад
They don't have to wash it but just sweep some of the dirt away and spray a little water on so the inscription can be read. It just takes a wisk broom and a bottle of H20.@@tlcooper2.0

California has very few cemeteries participating. I've tried several ancestors and I know they are in California but I can't get any of them to come up. Is there a reason why? Is California blocking them?
@tlcooper2.0
@tlcooper2.0 8 месяцев назад
Hardly. No one in Cali is loading the information. Period. If you are in Cali you can always do it. If not you at least know the basics - name a location of the cemetery, you can create the cemetery page, add as many memorials that you know to be true and accurate, and then click the button to request a photo. From there you pray that someone will take on the project of not just getting that one photo but documenting the entire cemetery.

Sadly I don't live in Cali. Those family members that I know lived in Cali, I'm not sure where they are buried. Don't even know the name of a cemetery. That is why I was hoping to find their graves in hopes of narrowing down where they are. Here in Utah and Idaho I've been adding and connecting deceased family members. But my Cali family I have to rely on someone out there to post them. Thanks for your suggestion. I'll keep trying.@@tlcooper2.0

How are the linked family added?
@scottchristensen9905
@scottchristensen9905 8 месяцев назад
You can suggest edits by adding parents or a spouse to an individual. Once the Manager of that marker reviews it they will approve and it will show them linked. In the past I've observed it taking a couple of weeks.

Contact the cemetery sexton. Ask them for the plot information and then you can add it.

Bring up cemeteries in the area and see if someone is managing it. If so contact them if they show their information. Ask them to check for specific person in that cemetery.
