I used to work Saturdays at Tony's shop when I was at school and I can personally vouch that a lot of time and effort goes in to the tuning of his air rifles. A lot of internal polishing and smoothing to make the action as smooth as possible. Anybody who says Tony does anything other than a top job doesn't have a clue what they are on about.

Hi I was the guy that bought the first Chieftain. I took my BSA Lightning tactical up to Tony to be tuned. He showed me the Chieftain that he had just finished and kindly let me shoot it in his upstairs range, and that was that I had to have it, I took it back in November to have the logo engraved as Tony had not had a chance to get it done and I got it back yesterday through the post and cant wait to shoot it tomorrow. Waited weeks for it but after a 3 hour drive down I finally picked up the tuned HW95 Luxus from Tony Wall at SFS yesterday.... All I can say is what a fantastic shop, full of great gear with a very friendly helpful team running the place. Took it up to the 20m range upstairs and what a phenomenal smooth and well balanced rifle it is in .177 and superbly accurate. Big thanks to Si for bring this to my attention and Tony for doing a top job of tuning it.

Mad to think that my HW95K was being tuned by Tony at the time this video went up and 5 years later its still bang on.

Great video. It is evident Tony Wall is a man with a passion. Those are the kinds of people I gladly pay a little extra for their craft. They stand by their word and deed. It is something the world needs more of.

Excellent video. I was using a HW95 tuned by him last year, and I had heard meself the 'packed with grease' story, so I was a bit sceptical; in actual use, however, the difference between the tuned rifle and my own standard 95k, was phenomenal in every area. Bloke actually knows what he's talking about and what he's doing, and the same cannot be said of most of his detractors.

visited the shop recently both tony and his staff are very welcoming and professional they confidently fitted a sling to a daystate regal for me after other gunshops were not forth coming. i already knew the daystate stock could be a problem to drill successfully without flaking but they explained this and i decided to continue . pleased to say it was expertly done in minutes . theres them who can talk and them who can do thanks tony and staff

after 50 years shooting Springers, I can honestly say in my opinion, this guy is the best there is by far. I bought a banshee many years ago, I still know the person that bought it off me, it must be 20 years old, if not more, still perfect,it’s more accurate than my HW 100 ! I’ve shot full bore, rimfire, shotguns, many air rifles, out of my 50 years shooting. The only gun that sticks in my mind is the banshee I owned, unbelievably accurate👌 i’ve practically given up shooting now,however, I think I might just get myself a Sandwell tuned 95 and a nice walnut stock😊🥂

What a phenomenal rifle, so quiet and lack of recoil, unbelievable! I bought a hw80 when they first came out in 1980 but foolishly sold it 5 years later, I regret that so much now. That gun was really accurate and powerful but had a fair kick to it, so I'm really impressed with your purchase! My old gun used to kick so much that you could not rest it like you did in this video with yours. Now thinking of starting shooting again.

I've just bought a HW50S in .177. I wanted something mainly for plinking and informal target shooting and was looking at getting the smaller, cheaper HW30S which is ~7 ftlbs. When I picked up the HW50S I liked the look, weight and size of it. I was told it would have more like ~10 ftlbs, not full UK limit power but still suitable as a bit of an all rounder which can be used for small game and pest control aswell, so I took the plunge (£200). After reading a bit about it I believe the HW50S is actually the same as the HW99S ? (correct me if I'm wrong). Apparently this HW50S is a 'grey import' sourced directly from the manufacturer instead of from Hull Cartridge which might explain the different designation on an otherwise identical (I hope!) rifle.

Nice video Si. I am glad to know that the hw97 works better with a longer barrel, I actually got the MKII that looks just like that one but with a different stock, still waiting for a scope for it tho, but it does shoot much smoother than my other springers.

I know this is 6 yrs ago already,But does SfS have their own shorter Hw50/99 barrels? I wanted mine treadet and shortened. But my tuner (the well known Huma reg creator) told me that the choke would be lost if he shortened the barrel! I am well pleased with it now anyway, Accurate as h@ll.

A lot of pest control companies choose to use a springer over a pcp mate. I have heard of a couple that use a couple of .22 Webley Value Max springers. Why? Well because they don’t suffer as much in dusty roof spaces and dirty places as a pcp. A pcp will fail a lot quicker in those circumstances and failure means loss of company income. They also don’t have to stop to keep refilling on large clearance jobs and they don’t have to carry filling kit with them in their vans.

had a 99s tuned it myself cracking little gun unfortunately I no longer have it,had a 90k and always fancied a 97 and 80. been thinking of popping over Sandwell field sports but seeing this its a must now

Don't you just hate it when others talk 💩 and try to destroy other peoples work and some just don't understand the time it takes and how much work goes into them, and when I've turned my own rifles and customised them and then told them that I can shot some spring guns I've done just as accurate and better than some PCPs they say it's impossible or think I'm telling lies and try put down my work, it makes my piss boil lol, I wouldn't mind getting one of his Imps so I don't have to do the work myself and need something lighter due to a serious injury I have, dose the SFS imp come in 177 or is it a 22 only as I've never owned or used a WH99, great videos and just love how you tell it as it is and that Tony Wall seems a great guy and his work is very impressive.

I contacted Tony via email around a week ago about maybe popping over and choosing my first air rifle. My email was after hours in the evening and he got back to me within the hour. Seems a genuine top bloke. My mate at work bought a gun from him and nothing but praise about Sandwell. 👍

I like how you guys love the Weihrauch rifles. I am also shooting with Weihrauch - guns (HW 77, Hw 45BS), best ones on the market (springers). Yet another interesting and informative video, thanks. I have a question regarding pellet head size. I shoot a 97k with only 7.5 joules and use a standard JSB match 4.5 pellet and I am very happy with the results. However, I notice that many other shooters use a 4.52 pellet. Is it worth it to carry on testing all the various head sizes or does Weihrauch really prefer a larger head diameter?

Because of this vid I made an effort to visit SFS in 2017. great shop and very welcoming. I even got to shoot some of TW personal collection. he had in the shop at the time. Needless to say I could not leave without a very nice LGU... keep up the great work and I look forward to visiting again.

Just had my HW99S tuned by Tony and his team and it has made it feel like a different gun the trigger is light and predictable cocking is so much smoother I'm getting groups of 5 shots under half the size of a 5p coin at 25 yards I put this down to the fact that the recoil is far less than it was and the very smooth trigger he also cut a thread on the barrel for me so I can use a moderator. It has not been imped because there is a lot more work involved than just cuting the end off the barrel . Ican't thank Tony enough for the great work he has done on my rifle

Just purchased a seconhand sfs Imp,should be delivered in a few days,only had a half a tin of pellets through it.Now if it shoots as ell a s my previously owned stage 2 tune hw97kt,i will be more than happy.That rifle was as accurate as any pcp i have owned.So i will give my thought on the Imp in due course...

I was 7 years old and firing my dads 7mm, learned how to shoot on that gun. You knew you had a good shot if it surprised you when it went off and you saw fire through the scope. There was recoil, when I hear people shooting these guns speaking of recoil I always smile to myself. You did some good shooting here, I need to get me one of these air rifles.

like anything that is bought of the shelf, there is always some finessing that can be done to make it work better, smoother its almost like they build in obsolescence so you have to buy a new one sooner

Tony doesnt tune TX's mate. He can and has in the past a number of times, but he feels that they are good enough out the box. Phone him and ask him, he may say yes.

Thats exactly it I think mate. The mans doing a honest and professional job for a fair days wage. He gives the customers what they want and his results speak for themselves. He is also a good friend of mine and I don't like lies said about him when i for 1 like many know hes a true master at what he does. Hes probably forgotten more about rifle tuning than a lot of so called tuners will ever known. Yes there are other great tuners out there but you will never ever hear Tony slate them.

hi I have a SMK19 .22 I am thinking of having the spring changed/tuned also the trigger is factory stiff so would like to change that as well so what would you suggest & possible cost

Because with the under lever you put the pellet directly in the barrel with hard ware or damage with a break barrel the pellet skirt can be damaged if it is not positioned correctly , alot safer to load (anti bear traps) are better on the lever action,once the lever is locked cannot be opened as easy as a break e.g knocking it there more accurate in my opinion as it is a fixed barrel its not moving from side to side (hardware) or up or down a thou out the accuracy just down to ware. Interesting & leant a lot as never really understood what tuning is about totally. I own a HW 35 it shouts Quility. 33,years old & it's still faultles. The power this springer has out beats the 4 new Rifles I've bought this year & there all top brand rifles. Most days I pick my HW,35 up just to admire the high Quility of the rifle it's so pleasing to the eye & a heavy gun compaired to my others. Would never part with it as a true classic working the same as the day it was new.

I love that rifle so much I had tears coming out of mi eyes just looking at it . that how good that rifle is .

Wonders if it was accupells causing dieseling? my 99 used to diesel with them, even though my 99 runs almost dry & accupells are supposed to have a graphite coating "which shouldn't diesel"....but did with them? Was shooting 15grn Armex seekers55s for a whil but cant find stock as they were test samples Armex,my 99 loved them (11.5) deadly accurate with great knock down, now using daystate LI's pretty much the same as accupells but it dont diesel (11.2)

Ran out of characters lol...fair play to you for standing up for these gunsmiths that we are so lucky to have in the uk without them air rifling sports and products would not be where they are today. another great video mate keep up the good work.

No danger about it Mr Wall is the tops. BUT the fix from Hull Cartridge on the cocking arm of the 99s with the fitting of the delrin rod fails after about 20-30 shots. The grease they put on it to aid the slide separates to the sides then the grating just comes back, you then have to take out the action from the stock to re-grease the delrin. And it is not just my rifle doing it, I have asked others who have the new modified 99's and they are reporting the same fault after a few shots...so be warned. Its not Mr Walls fault it is just a poor repair or fix and they are going to have to go back to the drawing board to secure a better and more permanent fix to the gauling problem of the 99. The new mod does not fix the problem.

Maybe, but it also could be one of about 6 people we know that don't like me or Davy and the channel. The truth sometimes hurts people who have said otherwise!
