Yes grieving for a pet and family member is very different. But I’ve experienced losing both. Both equally painful. Tbh tho, in my experience, I hurt more with my pet. He was always there. Coming home to silence was soul crushing. Took me weeks to finally put away his bowls and toys. Losing a pet is losing family, don’t belittle people for grieving how they grieve
I am sad to see her go But it is truly a selfless choice and understanding of not wanting your baby to be in pain. I think of my animals as family and have been heartbroken by this before. Just know that you can't let anyone tell you how or when you are allowed to grieve because like you said it is different for everyone. 🐾💙
I cried at the beginning. I cannot imagine how your feeling. I love animals more than humans (my opinion of course). They are like literally your babies and best friends through your life. We love you. Take your time coming back and feeling the motions. We are here for you ❤️❤️❤️❤️

It's been 4 years of depression and it's only been the last year or so that things have gotten better. I've been watching you for 2 years now. My cat is about 12-13 and we’ve had her since I was 5 and honestly I cannot imagine a time without her it makes me cry everytime cause she’ll never know how much I love her , she is my everything and I’m so grateful to have her she’s been here through everything 😟 Edit: came back to this video because she passed away last night and I needed comforting because this is way harder than I had ever expected

My little baby girl just passed away from congenital heart failure, and we had to do the right thing. It was one of the hardest things I ever did. I loved her like a child, and my grieve is unbearable at times. But, my comfort is knowing she still ate her treats and had all the love we could give to her. Im sorry for anyone that losses a furbaby. Its so hard because the house is so empty without them there. It hurts so much when you gave them everything you had. 😓😿💔

This worked with my dog: grain free high quality salmon dog food. Supplement it with mashed sweet potato daily. And then unprocessed meat and veg leftovers that you may have each day. No treats unless high quality grain free and even then sparingly. My dog RUNS and JUMPS now and her once clouded eyes are bright and clear. Best of luck ❤❤

Oh I feel for you beautiful girl. I lost my cat that I had since I was 7 (I’m 24 now), last fall and it was one of the worst pains I’ve ever experienced. I know that decision isn’t an easy one to make and is the same one I had to. I have a cat that I have had since I was 12 - he is WAY more than a cat to me... he has been there through every stage of my life, the good and the bad, and he is one of the only constants in my life. He is really old now and almost died a few months ago. My world shifted beneath me - him almost dying was the most pain I have EVER felt. I cannot even imagine the day it actually happens... Pets are seriously the best friends. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I lost my fourteen year old yorkie and my world will never be the same. It was kidney failure so the shots and the hardship-I’m right there with you. Just know that you’ll continue to survive the hard days and you’ll be strong enough to carry on. I work in a vet clinic and I see and hear about it everyday and owner having to put their pet down. It’s such an amazing thing because it shows how much of a bound you both have and what an amazing home snickers has. And a life she lived. I just had to put down my sweet girl only three days after finding out she had cancer- it’s been over a month and I still cry everyday. I’m so sorry you’re going through this it really is just as difficult as a person dying. Just be patient with yourself know that you gave her the best life possible
My dog unexpectedly passed away in June 2020, I was quarantined somewhere else so I hadn’t seen her in a while. Not being able to say goodbye has been miserable. Being able to see people pampering their pets and loving my other pets has been magical. There’s still a little chiweenie shaped hole in my heart.

Hey Sam, I experienced the exact same thing two years ago. it was my senior year and my cat, Lucy, was going through kidney failure and it was extremely tough. she had been with me since I was born until i was 18 and had been by my side every single day. my mom and I did all of the medicines and trying to give her saline every day and at some point she just started to get worse. it was tough because she was literally suffering and we decided to put her down because you could tell just by looking at her, she was in so much pain. i miss her a lot and it feels like a crater in your heart at first. it gets easier though. i just wanted to say that and if you read this, know that someone understands and its okay to grieve and cry about your pet. their your companion and its tough to experience life for the first time without them
The fact you're going through something so hard, yet you spent this video doing everything you can that's best for you, shows how much you've grown and it's aspirational! You did everything that you could to help yourself which is amazing because even just keeping breathing is brave in the face of grief (and we have the right to feel grief over whatever has hurt us, and the loss of a loved cat and friend, is an entirely valid reason to feel grief btw!)
I went through the same thing a year ago with my cat, I could lie and say it gets better but that’s not true. Also I love the rug! Make sure you put it underneath your couch about 3-5 inches though it will look better!
Hey Sam, My dog has been sick for the past 8 months with no quality of life anymore. I have been dreading the day where we have to put him to sleep and just recently we have made the decision to do so...I'm glad you're so open about this topic as I have been so overwhelmed and filled with guilt the past months trying to accept the fact that we have to put our best friend of 6 years down in the upcoming weeks. I lost 2 dogs in 2020 and they were my babies. So I feel the hurt and the grief. Girl, you do you and your baby had the best life. I love you so much and if you ever need to vent you know we are here!
Sam I did the same thing with both of my furbabies that crossed to rainbow bridge. Spoil them while you have the opportunity. Take all the pictures, give all the treats, and enjoy every moment. You know you have a huge community of people here who will lift you up and support you when the time comes. You are not alone.

Praying for you Sam 🙏🏼 💜✨ it’s always hard to lose someone that’s special in your life whether it’s a human or animal. I lost my puppy a few years ago and also lost a lot of family members recently. It’s okay to have days where you don’t feel okay. It’s part of the healing/grief process. On those days you just have to be kind to yourself and love yourself. For me what helps is taking a nap, take a nice shower or bath, listen to some good music 🎶, light a candle, read a book, watch your favorite shows, spend time with loved ones, etc. Just know you’re going to be okay 💜 you’re not alone. I lost my 14 year old cat 6 months ago it was so hard but it has gotten better. His quality of life wasn’t the same and I could see he was suffering. We gave him 14 years of love and happiness. She will always be in your heart!!! You meant so much to her and with time you will feel better ❤️ but definitely prepare to cry at random times because something reminded you of her 😅

When my childhood dog passed away I felt like the world ended right there. She was always with me since I was born, oh God I'm already getting emotional. She passed when I was 10 years old. I'm 30 now and I still miss her with all of my heart. She was the sweetest dog you can imagine. When my other dog died (5 years ago) after a long battle with pilepsy and cancer I lost it completely. It was so traumatising that I decided this was my last puppy ever. I just can't go through that ever again. I feel you Sam. 💔💔💔
Grieving a pet has been a lot worse for me than losing a family member. They just give you that unconditional love that no human could ever give you. They love you no matter what. I lost my childhood dog and cat within three months of each other. Pets whole entire lives is them giving us love, so the only right thing to do is give that to them when it is their time to pass. I feel you. My young kitten earlier this year passed away after he fell from a high ledge in my apartment. It was so incredibly hard to be home because it had been just us two. Now I am feeling so so much better but for a while every night the quiet was deafening. It will be okay though you will get through this❤️

Oh Sam I’m so sorry💛 I went through the same thing with my cat a year ago. She went into sudden kidney failure and I tried everything to help her. Eventually I knew that it was her time and I didn’t want to prolong her suffering. It was the hardest decision I’ve ever made and I still bawl my eyes out thinking about. I've lost 4 cats, 3 have passed away and one left and never came back. My one cat had epilepsy and the drugs he had worked for a while then they stopped working so we had to put him on stronger ones and then they just didn't work anymore and we made the choice to put him to sleep cause he was suffering and I didn't want that it broke my heart so bad and it still does everyday but he's at peace now and no longer in pain and that's what you need to remember with snickers u have loved her and been there for her thru her illness and she is forever grateful for you and even tho she'll pass she'll always be with you through memories and videos and photos she'll be at peace and you did everything you could for her, love you babe here for you big hugs ✨
I lost my cat when she was just 10, of cancer. It really helped me to go to a pet loss support group. I was a wreck, and it really helped to talk to other people who also see pets as family.
Grief is a really weird and foreign feeling. It just feels like someone stole a part of you that you’ll never be able to get back. Sam - I relate so much to you saying that most people think of grief as a person. I was more upset when my elderly dog passed than when any human in my life passed. I beat myself up about so not only was a grieving but mad at myself for doing it. But then someone pointed out this is only thing that has ever passed that was a daily part of my life (unlike grandparents/distant relatives). It makes sense that it upsets me more. Just thought I'd share. Don’t feel weird about it at all.
last year i lost my best kitty friend of 20 years. like you, i really can't remember life without him so it was, and truthfully still is, devastating. the thing that helped me the most is just knowing that he could have never asked for a better, more loving life. he always got whatever he needed whenever he needed it, and it's not my fault someone decided cats can't have a longer lifespan. it's so hard seeing them go, but i hope you know snickers won the cat lottery when you brought her into your life. you're the best cat momma to her. she is lucky to have you and she knows how much you love her. sending you love, and i'm so sorry you're going through you.
I’ve lost many family members throughout my life (cousin, uncle, all of my grandparents, a great-grandparent). While I grieved all of those losses, the one that hit me the hardest was literally my hamster. She was just so innocently pure and lovely and my world was so bright with her in it.

Lost my cat last month to kidney disease, she was only 9, I had to give her sub q fluids and watching you give your cat fluids and medicine made me feel comfort, knowing that you were going through it too and that i wasn’t alone in taking care of my sick cat. I feel so sorry for you grieving your cat. And you need to know that your grief is valid, you can be sad for a long time and that’s okay! They are not just a pet, they have been through every part of your life with you, every ups and downs, every emotion and they love you unconditionally. Living without them is going to be hard, and that is okay. The sadness of losing a pet doesn’t go away, and there’s this feeling in society that you can’t grieve for a pet and that you need to move on quickly after they pass (eg. “just get a new cat”). But they aren’t just a pet, they aren’t just a cat, they are a family member, a loved one at that. It’s been three years since my bunny passed, i had her for half my life and the life without her isn’t the same. I’m still sad about it but that’s okay. It shows that they were loved and that they meant a lot to you. It shows that their life was worth something. Snickers loves you alot, otherwise she wouldn’t have stayed this long with you. Missing her is just normal. She’s living the best life and it shows how much you love her. I hope you’re okay and that you can feel like your grief is valid.❤️❤️

I lost my chihuahua of 12 years this February . My son of ten years old cried for weeks and I cried with him . It leaves such a big void in your life. Animals are the same as a human. I had My chihuahua since I was 18 . Went through many things with her. It is so hard.

I usually never comment but I just wanted to say that I also grew up with my cat from the time I was 3 and to watch her go through renal failure and eventually have to let her go was one of the hardest things I’ve done.
