WEEK IN MY LIFE! I GOT A JOB *my first week as a dog walker + how much $$ I made* 

I’ve been doing this for a few weeks now & between all the walks & copilot I am feeling so much better about the way I look and feel vs how I felt when I filmed this!! If you have been considering wag, DO IT

Sam, I don’t think people told you to get a job to be mean. People who struggle with mental health can thrive on a schedule and jobs can do that. I hope you keep wag walking, you look so happy!!

Dog walker here for 5.5 years! It's honestly one of the most rewarding jobs you'll ever experience. No matter how bad things are, seeing how excited every single day my dogs get, keeps me going. Always put in maximum effort too! While it may be your 5th walk that day, the time they get may be the only time they get to walk! Also, if you do it long-term. Prepare yourself for heartbreak. Dogs move and pass away, and every, single, one, is hard. I've cried with customers, cried with dogs and cried without them there too! Seriously am so happy for you and can't wait for more updates! You'll have so much fun!

So the reason your background check took longer than expected is because you have lived in multiple states so they had to check you background in each state. I drive for lyft and they have to do the same thing for drivers. Mine always takes forever because of living in multiple states. Glad you are excited to start this job!

SAMANTHA!!!! Just an option: Take your car to Auto Zone and ask them to run a check on it to find out codes-the codes will give you an idea(sometimes the actual problem) to what is wrong. It’s FREE!!!!! Hope this helps!

Nice job! Please look up asphalt temperature during a heat wave. For instance, if it's in the 80"s, the asphalt feels like 145° on a dogs paws. Scary for sure. Keep up the good work!!!

Get a leash that goes around your waist and allows you to have 2 or more dogs on it! It’s been a lifesaver for me and they have them with Fanny packs attached 🙂

Anyone else nervous about her walking the dogs when it’s over 100 degrees outside??? Just a reminder that the cement and black top pavement is like 50-70 degrees hotter than the outside temperature! Can be extremely dangerous for your friends with paws

Just a FYI the check engine light could be the gas cap not on all the way, a dirt filter. bad fuel many little things. It could also be a "o" ring to your engine. if they fix it and it comes back within a certain amount of miles it isnt fixed they just cleared the computer and reset it till it cycles again. Just sharing in case so it could possibly be of help to someone else.

this dog walking job is perfect. you make money, get exercise, play with dogs, and get out of your comfort zone a little. keep it up 🤍

Hey Sam! Another good idea would be to have what is called a “slip leash” on your pups that you’re walking. I am a veterinarian assistant at a vet hospital and these help SO MUCH if the dog gets scared and tries to get away from you. It just is another thing you can do to protect the dog and yourself 🙂 wag seems like a great option! I hope you’re having fun!

I *loved* going on daily walks with my dog and even now that she went over the rainbow bridge, I still walk our route now and then and always talk to her about how everything’s been since she’s gone and how much I miss her. It’s just the perfect thing to get my head out of editing and social media stress and makes me feel so close to her and yeah… I hope she’s proud of me.

i dont know why i never thought about doing this! im a stay at home mom to 4 homeschooled kids and i desperately want a dog in our lives but the husband doesnt want a dog in our house. this is such a good idea for not only physical health but mental as well. so awesome sam!!

For the check engine light, you gotta plug in a diagnostic tool to run the codes to find out what's causing the check engine light, it can be a few things. If your car starts stalling, its the ignition switch. Either way, if the car was just purchased, you should head back to the dealership, they can run and clear the codes.

Day 4 threw me when I first saw the deer 😂 I thought ‘what a unique looking dog!’

Hey Sam! I’m a collegiate runner and sometimes when you suddenly run/walk a lot more than normal you can get shin splits. I’d recommend icing your shins and foam rolling your calves, or look into other ways to prevent shin splints!! I’d hate for you to get injured and then not be able to walk for a bit.

"Premium" gas can be bad for some cars. I would look online to see if your car uses it. You looks so happy with the dog walking! Edit: Walking backwards can help with shin pain. It may feel a little weird when you do it, but it stretches things the other way.

I’ve been on rover a year ( boarding and daycare) Best decision I’ve ever made. It fulfills me so much. I am making the transition to full-time. My advice for you would be to schedule meet and greets with your clients beforehand.

I recommend starting your own business. I’ve been walking dogs for 6 years full time and you make sooooooo much more money without going through wag or rover! 🥰

I've gained weight back too. I'm starting back on my exercise program, & adding more fruits & veggies. I was doing so good, I don't know what happened! I'm glad you're getting exercise. It's so good to take care yourself. I have to give myself a few weeks to change my taste buds, & get back in the habit of working out. Ugh, why did I ever stop!?!

I used to walk dogs and pet sit, many moons ago, for my first job - and it was THE best job I’ve ever had!! I’m so happy that you get to have the same sort of experience! 😁🤗

Just a little tip! When you add the fuel additive, add it before you put the gas in! It helps it mix ♥️

make sure the cement isn’t too hot for dogs feet!! i read somewhere to use the back of your hand and hold it on the cement for like 5 or 10 seconds to see if it’s too hot

It will usually say around the hole where you put in gas if it requires premium fuel. My Jeep takes premium and it says on a yellow sticker, “ this vehicle requires premium fuel.” 😊

Oh I love this!! I know it has to be awesome getting to be with the animals! Animals are so good for your mental health. I grew up on the farm and lived there again a while before I got married. My mental health was in pretty good shape- I always accounted it to the animals and fresh air, plus that is my heart’s home.
