These 2 are so easy to like. You can tell they love one another and there is no sibling rivalry. So humble, so quiet, so genuine and hard working BUT they are both trained killers. Respect to the Shevchenko sisters
I mean she's the champ... she can't be under rated... If you mean she's not talked about by goofy fans and the media as much as she could be that's just the way it is...But real fans rate her highly...
@@PhileasFogg no actually he started training them from the very beginning valentina was 6 antonina was 10, upon mothers request because he was a coach at a big gym in Kyrgyzstan. But nobody knows his age. He also was coach of ufc lightweight Rafael Fiziev.
Antonina is a World Champion Sister! I'm sure being older there was a time when she realized she was going to be out shined by her little sister. Clearly she got over it and is there for Valentina 110%
Bro, after watching that Weidman mini doc, I am even more impressed by how she managed to support her little sister. His brother was an evil little dickhead.
@@Inquisitor_Vex not sure if you’ve watched the interview with Helwani but Nick even says himself he wants his brother Nate to outshine him that’s where I got that from
@@joshuavaldez5359 I actually hadn’t. I was going off the other videos where people have tried to big up Nate and he (almost always) says that he wouldn’t be anywhere without Nick. It just goes to show the supreme respect these guys have for each other. Neither wanting to take the others shine. Edit: fixed “without his Nick”?!
I met her at bar, didn't recognize her with all the makeup on. I was doing well until I started going on and on about Jessica Eye and how interesting she is. True story.
Valentina seems disciplined. I feel like whatever she’d put her mind to regardless of whether it’s MMA or anything in life she’ll be extremely determined.
We must all appreciate these two sisters. Including all of their fights since they began their journey, competition, amateur and pro; I think they both have combined close to maybe around 1000 fights, which is some legendary stuff...
This is what I like about the UFC; it has so many colorful characters, moreso than any other sport atm. Some of these guys are literally like characters taken from a movie or novel.
Let's give these women their flowers while they're on top. What they're doing is kinda nuts. They just travel the world and beat everybody they fight (Save Amanda) in every martial art imaginable. AND Antonina's a pilot!!
@@billphillips7830 My daughter told me last week that she wanted to be like Valentina because she's "so strong and amazing" after she saw her last win. Her discipline and focus is an inspiration for anyone man.
@@billphillips7830 Valentina is a honored Professor of Arts from the national Kyrgyz University and she speaks 4 Languages, can play ukulele, paint/draw, has an degree in Film Directing
@@daemondost7168 She calls herself Russian. You are putting too much importance on the country of origin of her surname. She was not raised in an Ukrainian household, she was raised in a Russian household speaking Russian. She is the one who knows her family tree and if her Ukrainian ancestor goes back 7 generations or more her Ukrainian DNA would be less than 1%. On the other hand, even if her father was Ukrainian, in some cultures that would not matter. In these cultures whatever the mother is, so are the children. If that's the case in her culture, a Russian mother would mean the children identify as Russian and are considered to be Russian.
If you saw Valentina walking down the street, you wouldn't believe she spoke three languages, shot like she was in the special forces, and is one of the baddest MMA fighters on the planet. Moral, can't judge a book by it's cover.
Honestly the UFC often does a terrible job at promoting and pushing fighters! If they had pushed Valentina and gave her the promo she deserved, she would have been a huge star and money maker many of years ago! They are both great fighters, but more imporzantly they're beautiful and decent human beings. They are the role models girls need! Hard working, humble and loving! That's how you become successful. They are both awesome!
I know their attire look dated but there’s also something badass about it. I feel like after this interview they would go to the washroom and collect their guns under the sink
bwt big kudos to Brett for asking better question than 90 per cent of the mma journos, it was a really great interview. Also I'm amazed how much better Valentina's and Antonina's english skills became.
@@KoC2 that interview was hilarious! "Ariel, why are you so awkward all the time?" "I feel like some people like that." "That's true." "I feel like you are one of those people, Arianny." "I guess I am." "Arianny, are you coming onto me?" "I guess I am. Don't tell your wife." "Deal, as long as you don't tell your significant other." "You just made it awkward now, Ariel." 😂😂😂😂😂
So much respect to these two women. Dedicated to being the best that they can be... in life. Good people. Driven and realistic. Not full of themselves. They're at a new level raising the bar.
Valentina my 👸, pound per pound greatest female martial artist of our time. To me what separates Valentina from other female fighters, is that she is still very feminine with an exceptional intellect. Is unfortunate she is not getting the recognition she deserves.
Excellent interviewer, his questions brought out really great insights from & about the sisters. Most other interviewers just ask the same standard fight questions e.g. "who do you want to fight next...are you going to knock her out..when is your next fight".
@@treyhill8230 but its by their mothers approval otherwise it would not happen. different culture where they are from, its not weird if you are 10-15 years older than your wife from where they come, its normal.
As a former double Olympian in athletics, I can relate 100% to their life experience and philosophy. This is one of the best interviews I have seen up to now and...I would fall for those smart, well-traveled, well-cultured, powerful, and yes, exceptionally feminine women.
Glad to be brought up in this Era to see this and see thier fights. It's been great to hear them and to understand them. So smart and talented and all around blessed.
What an amazing set of sisters. I love how deep their friendship goes. I am the older brother to my brother by 5 years and we have always been very close friends. I never understood people who didn't get along with their family. I cherish my family. Valentina is such an amazing martial artist. I wanna go get lost in south American rain-forest! I live here in Oregon and i go get lost in the woods here almost everyday but to go to south America and Russia like lake bakial has always been a dream of mine!
Даже не привычно видеть Антонину и Валентину в обычном одеянии. Приятные девушки./ То, как дерутся сестры, меня поражает: зрелищно, технично, сосредоточенно.
Great interview Brett....... All martial artists should take notes from these two.... The discipline they have been so fortunate to have acquired throughout their life is truly priceless.. Psyched for them....
