Gettysburg Battle Walk with Ranger Matt Atkinson - McPherson Ridge [intro only] 

The videos are very good and Matt is very knowledgeable. NPS videos are very good, too . But I get confused regards the spacial orientation (which way is the camera facing, which direction is north/south. Where the group is at.) I feel editing in some maps with arrows would go a long way improving the presentations.

I doubt I could come to GNMP and see it without doing it without Park Ranger Matt Atkinson, for he's the best of the best of the best as I can see so far, and all of the Park Rangers are super swell.

I love his voice and style. It is like listening to a good story.

Matt Atkinson, love your accent, and I'm a Yankee, born in Massachusetts, raised in Oregon . You're willing to share all your knowledge of Gettysburg Battle. I've been studying more of the Confederate generals, because I didn't know much about them, although I took a Civil War class at SWOCC in Coos Bay, Oregon. That city has many city avenues named after Union generals like Grant, Sherman, Sheridan, so we mostly studied them, which I find interesting, since quite a number of the original white residents there were actually Citizens of the Confederacy, who left either just before the Civil War because they could smell war coming and didn't want their teenage boys to be slaughtered, so they left, some bringing their black slaves in town. They were told " no black people allowed in Oregon at all" ( law passed in 1857, kept when Oregon became a state in 1859, and ditched in 1926!😮) former Confederate slave masters settled town of Powers, Oregon in 1870, after ships around South America, and landing in Coos Bay, and taking land claims in Powers, about 60 miles SE of there. Lots of southerners settled Willamette Valley and south Coast. I was quite surprised 😯 to discover that until mid 1920s, the KKK was quite powerful and popular here! There's even some prejudice here now, since one of my old landlords, whose grand father was a slave masters, wouldn't watch football because they had black players! Even when we offered him his favorite soft brownies, he would watch it!

Had attended a couple of Matts battlefield walks, and employed him as a guide... Greatly enjoy his company, expertise, and presentation... Good stuff...Hope to see him again soon when this Covid funk is all over...

Judging by the "unsolicited" comments; It seems like some rangers have the backing of their family and friends.

Terrible Waste of a Talented Ranger: I think Matt is excellent as evidenced by the LRT and Peach Orchard presentations. But this one should just be deleted. First, the video person/crew didn’t mic Matt so hearing him is practically impossible. Second, while I’m sure the presentation is super you’ll never see the whole thing. Why is simple, the camera stopped working. If I were Matt I would do to the audio-video folks what the Confederates did to Dan Sickles and take them apart piece by piece.
