Strange how both were honed to 20k synthetic. Yet the Gevoso HHT was great. And the Fram was poor ...pasted strop hardly improved the Fram , yet both are 6/8 deep hollow grinds from the same period, both renowned Solingen makers . However much to my surprise, both shaved extremely well !😮 🫢 .
Easy to use Cajun Blade soap. ' Forět de Pins' wonderful aroma .
My trusty synthetic Yaqi 30mm brush , never fails .
4 passes and a totally comfortable shave ....
Thanks to all for watching 👀 and spreading the word 🙏 .

Thanks for the kind words. That stash is looking right, it’s a real panty dropper. Another great comparison, isn’t it great to get those surprises!! And great looking restoration work, I can see the sparkle from here 😂.

Hi Martin. I noticed my skin feels better when it is not very cold outside 🙂 You have tried natural stones but you have not sold your synthetics. Have a good Saturday

Hi Martin, so glad you were able to bring the Gevoso back to life, it had been neglected for far too long!

As far as brands go, Gevoso is one of my favorites.

If I may, I do have an observation on the Fram. Looking at the hone guide (spine), there appeared to be a mild smiling pattern. Not having ‘hands on’ with that particular shave piece, and not being the engineer type capable of explaining the design of such geometry I am somewhat disadvantaged, but it is my understanding that the key to honing these smiley/curvy items can be found somewhere in the type of stroke used. Although I have no experience in this, there is a fair amount of reasonable content on honing a smiling razor that I have seen around. Over the years, I have casually shopped for one of those legendary Saito of the extreme smiling variety razors (SK1, SK2, SK3). Unfortunately anything in the favorable price range had much of the smile honed away…sigh. The performance rescue on the Fram with an abrasive charged strop certainly speaks to an effective method. …How are you skating speeds coming along? 😂

@billm.2677 Bill your observation skills are remarkable, yes a faint smile is apparent, and I thought I'd taken that into account? ...normally a slight rolling movement is sufficient, I still don't understand how it shaves so well , but HHT'S rather poorly? This undermines my faith in the HHT 🙏 . We are entering the slow season skating wise , so air resistance from blossoming tash doesn't concern me 😆.

I like Cajun blades soap very nice . My next shave with the ti will have white ti paste finish . Talking about prep I tried cold water shave and I was surprised how well it went .

@garyhaywood6013 cold water shave , your brave , but depends on the soap 🧼 I'd imagine 😳. Ti paste has far more cutting to it , definitely will refresh any edge .
