gfriend were really the dance and synchronization queens of 3rd gen. i’m gonna miss them so much, esp umji knowing how much she has improved just overall. she used to be so shy and insecure during their debut days, and now she’s confident and just more lively on stage.
Honestly, what got me about GFRIEND the most was just how unexpected it was. We all knew from the get-go that we would only have two and a half years with IZ*ONE, but I thought GFRIEND had seven year contracts, so I thought if they were to disband it would be next year. However, above all, the member's health and happiness come first. If this is what they wish to do, we'll support them in their future endeavors 💙
If I'm not mistaken, main & lead dancers are the members who help the other members learning new choreo. Yuju cannot be a main or lead since she needs help the most and takes the longest time to learn a new choreo. In a radio show in the past, yuju once said she was so grateful to yerin (or yerin&sowon) for spending extra time specially to help her learn choreo whenever their cb is near. I'm not saying yuju is worse than yerin, she just cannot be the lead because rather than helping others, she spends the most time to perfect her dance & maybe thats the reason why she's such an eye-catcher on stage
as a buddy, i did see that some of Sowon's move seems stiff at times and Yerin's dance seems identical to debut days BUT YOU POINT OUT THE REASON REALLY WELL (bcos Sowon's height vs choreo & Yerin always doing the best all along) and "low-intensity =/ low difficulty" is THE BEST POINT. thankyou for enlighten me !
As a "fun" fact Sowon seems to be EXTREMELY careful with sudden moves and when she dances. She has had this condition since she was a kid where her lens dislocates. There is this formation in Glass bead where all the members surround Yuju while dancing, and she couldn't see a thing because it got dislocated again.
SinB is one of the very few main dancers that dont actually overshadow her groupmates. I mean, just look at her trying to blend with everyone every single time? She is more of a team player than someone who would actually live to their title as Main Dancer. That's the thing I like about her.
It was so unexpected their disband, this last comeback were amazing (Mago, Fever...) it surprised me the news, we will miss them as a group :( Anyways, ty for the dance ranking :)
Girl Groups usually don’t last as long sadly 😭 Kpop girl groups usually only get to 7 years which is sad but it’s not as bad The only female kpop groups that surpassed 10 years are Brown Eyed Girls (14 years still active) and SNSD (13 years disbanded) and for western are only Little Mix (10 years still active)
I think every member is an amazing dancer❤👏and all the choreography are so perfect💜 But of course SinB ,Yuju and Yerin are amazing🎉 I'm going to miss them so badly😭😭
ohh this rank is new to me bcs most of the time i think ppl rank yerin as 4th after umji..but i kinda agree with your rank..umji does really improve but i think her style suits mago n apple kind of choreographies better..yuju surely fooled me into thinking she is the main dancer when i first watch them bcs her moves smtimes have that power (idk how to describe this n this is only an opinion as a fan with no dance knowledge hehe)..i like sinb moves as she always make it looks so fluid, looks easy but not but sometimes she can be underrated compared to a few other main dancers like what you said.. all in all i really think all members can do better if they were given more opportunities to learn and learn how to be more confident abt their ability

I agree that even I think sinb and umji in the mago era are like two dancing robots, because they are so in sync with each other, so I think umji deserves to be in the top 3 great dance line gfriend
Iconic song of rainbow and I’m here! My thoughts; this ranking surprised me but everyone should be opened to other rankings. I already knew eunha and sowon can be quite stiff. With yerin, I felt like she lost passion over dancing once she experienced an injury in 2017- somehow she sometimes looks stiff and awkward when dancing. With yuju, she’s an excellent dancer for a main vocal. She excels in different areas, her style is very noticeable after 2020. Sometimes it lacks fluidity and cleanness, in my opinion. Sinb also could improve in her dynamics because she mostly focuses on being smooth and clean. Sinb and umji are my fav dancers in terms of style- it just seems very clean! I’m looking forward to see if they were continue an idol life or not, even eunha talked about how she wants to do a dancing channel after her career- but seems like the disbandment was rushed tho.
Eunha may not be the best dancer. But she's hella cute it just makes her look alot better !! Which is a good thing. My eyes always lock on Eunha or Yuju... maybe simply because they're the cutest in my eyes!! I know yuju dancing has improved massively, i really think she'd be tie with Yerin. I personally dont think she's better or worser ..💜

finally found a video of someone appreciating yerin as gfriend’s lead dancer many people didn’t know yerin is the lead dancer and soumu also didn’t promote her well for that position i guess i can agree that yerin didn’t show much improvement in her dance skill since 2015 and i personally think her energy went down throughout the years but i can fully understand that bcs yerin was overworked in every comeback month (going to various variety show esp during 2017) anyways thank you for the video😊
my opinions on this one are a bit different. i personally will place yerin as 4th. yerin deserves her position as lead dancer but from what i’ve observed from their years of dancing, umji’s technique and placements are better. now going on with the 3rd and 2nd, i do think that yuju and umji takes this spot interchangeably. yuju has the power and stage presence thus making her dance strong and eye-catching. in contrast, umji has the smoothness and fluidity to it.
I strongly agree to this. Yerin is good, is just Umji always catches my attention more. Even in SinB and Umji's random dance in their last vlive, Umji got my attention more than SinB. Sorry Sinb, still love u tho.
While I do agree that SinB is the best dancer in Gfriend, I think is also fair to point out that Yuju has also the responsibility of being the main vocal, so she doesn't have the "luxury" of focusing only on her dance. While in stage she usually is carrying the chorus and some crazy high notes, it all adds up. With that said I still think that Gfriend was (t-t) one of the best balanced group out there; all the members were pulling their weight. No slackers here lol probably that's one of the main reasons their team work and bond is so high, because they are were not only doing their best but also getting the job done.
This was so weird to watch, as before the dance ranking of GFRIEND according to SinB would be her>Sowon>Yerin>Eunha>Umji>Yuju during Fingertip era, and during Crossroads era it was her>Yuju>Umji>Yerin>Sowon>Eunha. Personally, I feel like an accurate ranking would be something like SinB>Sowon=Yerin=Eunha=Yuju=Umji, and that is because all the girls are really competent idol dancers, and each of them have their strengths to which most people might consider when picking their favorite, but they also have their lacking qualities they need to work on. So really, just like GOT7's ranking, 2nd-6th are really interchangable depending on one's preferences, and can be discussed in healthy conversation. Edit: I'd like to also point out that one reason to Yerin seemingly no improvement is because of her appendix operation during Navillera era, which caused her to underdance and always be in check for her health
I have to disagree on Umji and Yerins placements and switch them. SinB herself placed Umji 3rd in terms of dance in the group. And during her time in Viviz, her versatility and facial expressions have really improved
Quick note about the heights - the non-Sowon members range from 5'4''-5'7'' (#giantfriend). Sowon's height has been reported super inconsistently, likely because she's so tall compared to other idols and differences like that tend to be lied about. But according to people who've met her (and based on pics she takes with other idols), she's closer to 5'9''-5'10''.
As a side note, they looked really thin this comeback. I don't mean to thin-shame if this is regular for them, but if they've been dieting heavily, I hope they can return to more regular eating patterns now.
@@anniel.1900 sowon is naturally thin. She's the only member who have not gone on a diet. Diet is not a requirement for the girls since sunrise era I assume.. because source music lifted the strict dietary schedules.

I was just done crying- now I’m getting teary eyed again🥺 we will be with gfriend every step of the way🤍💙💜 Also- I was always attracted to sinb’s dancing (lmao the reason why she’s my bias) she makes every move looks so soft and elegant and satisfying and easy to do and when you try it you look like a broken robot??¿¿?😭 (in my case lmao) Also I feel like SinB’s just holding back most of the time, her isolations when she danced to Do Your Thang or during Me Gustas Tu era was 👌🏻 But through the years- especially after navillera era (when she accidentally dislocated her shoulder in the middle of performance) her dancing became softer than ever- almost feather like. And it resulted to her moves not looking as sharp. I feel like she started being wary of moving her limbs too much, the accident probably traumatized her💔

Yuju is improved so much as dancer especially in last 2 years. but i still think Yerin still deserves lead dancer position, she's consistent in 6 years
Lol I can't understand those people who discredit Gfriend dances. While energetic and high intensity dances really are difficult, those average intensity dances gfriend does is compensated with detail and technique which makes it not less difficult. Gfriend queens.
thanks for this! i've always appreciated how they balance each other out regardless of differences in skills + remained consistent w/ their strengths while still improving greatly in other aspects. plus their choreos show their passion & the strength of their bond. we really can't have another group like gfriend. i miss them so much, but i'm hopeful we'll see them dance (in this moon night) again.
As a group, Gfriend lacks dynamics of movement as their cherography shows a dancers technique than complicated cherography and most of the movements are relaxed executions. Some of the members have good torso isolations so they should start their own style when dancing to develop their artistry.
Nice video! As I have no knowledge about dancing...what do you mean by under-developed dancing techniques? (Not sure if you have done any video explaining about it before). So next time when I watch K-pop dancing I can notice some differences. Thanks!
sowon is flexible it's just that in her debut, she like tore. muscle I think or smt like that, she just waited for it to heal so maybe that's why she wasnt flexible or she just has gotten more flexibld

Why don't we crowd source the six women of Gfriend's next album? It could be newly recorded versions of their Gfriend songs with Source Music. It could have ballad versions of their songs. Or it could include covers that Gfriend performed live like Fin.K.L. "To My Boyfriend". It could include a dvd of their newly made dance videos. Let's help the Sowon, Yuju, Eunha, SinB, Umji, and Yer-in to apply to other music companies. I think Play M would be one great choice because they have renewed Apink's contract for the second time. Apink has done one album, one Season Greetings, and one concert each year. Gfriend could continue their RU-vid channel that is like Apink's Diary. Which ever music company that signs Gfriend will have a well versed girl group with beautiful voices that are easily recognizable, exemptional dancing skills, and are capable of selling albums and concert tickets from their new beginning. Gfriend's new music company will not have to promote a new girl group that does not have a hit yet. Even if they change their name, their fans will recognize them, and they will have a garrented audience. The Internet chat sites will buzz with news of new songs and performances by the six women who were formally Gfriend.
6:19 say it louder!! Back then people discredit Gfriend A LOT, especially SinB as main dancer, they said "SinB is not that great since she's not as powerful as XXX (from another group)". As clarity centered dancer, SinB being ignored as one of the best dancer in 3rd kpop generation for many times just because she was focusing on clear angles and placements. Shout out to Gfriend as one of the most original group kpop ever had. It's such a big lost...

I feel like now an ASTRO danc ranking would be good (since SinB and Moonbin are both childhood best friends) and both groups are underrated in dancing/choreographies imo
