Kirsten, you are in inspiration to all, including many seasoned sailors, novices and even armchair sailors. Your adventure will long be remembered and retold for generations to come. We all await a more complete chronicling of your circumnavigation! I, for one, am greatly impressed!!!
Great to see the conclusion, and thank you for sharing your experiences with all of us out here. Regarding the possibility of a book, please consider it, and please do not forget that if, as you said, 80% of the effort was getting to the starting line, then I'm sure everyone would love to read all about that. ...and PS, future GGR sailors will be glad to have your book along for the trip!
I love the tool chest. Nuts. Bolts. Books. Languages. Enormously knowledgeable about her boat. This is a most amazing charming happy hearted fascinating lovely humble genuine (what have I missed?) woman.
the comment about the guys loosing weight because their normally have their wives cooking for them gave me the best laugh in a long time! thanks Kirsten! second best the drawers with the tools and Don saying "this is so GGR"! great interview, thanks Don and the GGR team!
Great interview. Even though I am only a cruising sailor with a small yacht I carry similar tools and nuts and bolts, screws, shackles and blockers, fibre glass kit etc., etc. a habit learnt from sailing round the world which I can’t relinquish 😀. Wells e Kirsten, so under stated considering your awesome achievement! 🌍
Spectacular interview. The boat so well prepared, and the Skipper a master seaman. A formula for success, absolutely. I took a number of cool ideas from this video! Truthfully, she is amazing!
Kirsten… thank you so much for everything you have done. Please write the book.. and star in the movie too.. So many people have been watching your updates everyday for the whole race. I still have nightmares about you swimming behind the moving boat with no safety line.. but like everything else it appears you knew exactly what you were doing.. Take care..
Great video over a great sailor boat setup. Looking forward to watch 2022-23 GGR video. Hope before 2026. Congrats Kirsten for your achievement and thanks Don for your great effort to put this amazing event together. Last but not least thanks to LSO community in supporting it.
Books very important to read 📚 sailing .I am always reading ,thanks for sharing. Great interview. Solo crossing Cape Horn what a greatest story all the time .Greetings from beautiful tropical paradise island Kauai 🏝 Hawaii
I say take a bit of time to write down your recollections while they are still fresh in your mind and write the book later when you have the time and are not busy with more adventures. Of course the letters you wrote to others during the voyage would be great for you to get copies of, and the interviews are amazing. I am 62 and have had a few adventures and I wish I had kept a regular diary. Not that anyone necessarily wants to read “my book” but I do love reading the few diaries I have kept over the years. As you mention, it is amazing what you forget over time. My daughter (age 28) is super interested in what you ate and how you managed your food over your time at sea. I also am interested in the food aspect but also your day to day activities. My husband is the mechanic/fix it/tool guy on our sailboat and he is super interested in the technical aspects of your preparation and problem solving during the race.
Thank you so much Don and Team, please Kirstin write a book. Do it for the man and women that will follow in your steps, Cross oceans and want to read a book that inspieres them like Bernhard Montessiere inspieres you.
Great Kirsten, what a victory! Loved all the way round to see her sailing. But this video is very dispointing, poor sound quality, nothing about her boat set up, how she sailed and got through without serious damages. How did she prepare the boat, where was the focus to create such a reliable and seaworthy boat...
Someone will need to write a book. I can't imagine that anyone would be able to tell Kirsten s story as well or with the accuracy Kirsten will want to exist, as Kirsten !
In 25 years you will review your tweets and say " sounds like a 30 something year old wrote this" ... but understandably focused on winning by sailing, not sending tweets!!!
