It's a tribute to how good this era was that the reverberations of these scenes were felt, and possibly carried the show, through the next forty years.
Tony Geary was great back then, he plays the undercurrents between Luke and Laura soooo well. He brought that energy in and GF is right up there with him.

Oh so sorry but very true. I just can't stand GH today that is way it hurts so much to admit saying that I don't watch GH anymore. Its just so much harder to focus on. The canvas is just to dark and cold no true love of family, friendships or even fun! The show ...GH has lost its wonderous magic. All of the great characters have left there mark on my heart. GH heart has stoped beating it died a very sad and lonely death...JMVHO! Peace out Rosie!

I love these old episodes when I was a child then brings back a lot of memories in those days yrs ago the drama takes place inside of the hospital and especially out of the hospital and Laura looks cute and beautiful in those days.
Seeing them all so young brings back so many memories in watching the show. Laura was so gorgeous and even Tracy was very pretty, although a rotten person.

Looking back and watching this now, and at about 13:40 you see her eyes follow Luke out the room. Yeah, the sparks were starting. It's interesting to watch this in "slow motion", as compared to when watching it in real time.
Laura's whole demeanor changed when Scott showed up. It is cool to see it on the outside! There is no denying it, Luke and Laura both had feelings for each other way back then. I almost forget that Laura is married to Scott.
I remember that when Amy came to town she stayed with Quartermaines & was good friends with Alan. I noticed Laura eyes following Luke, thanks for pointing that out.
@justlina2769 yes! Unless you have watched them from the beginning you would not know this. So many people think they had a few scenes together then he raped her.

Looking back on these long ago scenes, I notice Anne and Jeff pretty much treated Joe like trash. I never could stand Jeff, but I loved Anne. Jeff and Anne acted as though Joe was just in the way. Joe was too good for both characters. Thanks for uploading though :)
Thanks for posting..I was in grade school but remember Amy showing up like it was yesterday. She came to the Q mansion with Laura and tried on all of Monica's dresses while she was recovering at the hospital from the fall down the stairs. At first Amy had a crush on Alan. The poor girl kept 2 secrets her entire life, both times to try and protect Alan..the paternity of Alan Jr and years later his drug addiction secret. Ironically both secrets probably ended up hurting him more than helping.
MicheleKate You mean Amy actually kept a secret, two secrets at that, wow. I love Shell Kepler, she is such a cutie. I still don't know if AJ is Alan's, Jason is Alan's from Susan. Is AJ really Ricks? There were some things I missed back in the 70's. I stopped watching after Laura left and never watched it again.
Christine Adams AJ is Alan’s although it took a long time for it to be revealed that it was not Ricks. For awhile Alan thought it was Ricks which is why he was planning to kill them

@OneDayAfterAnother The major networks are reviving their old shows via streaming services. Abc is launching a new streaming service @disneyplus . You should write to them and request GH 1978, also, All My Children should have full episodes starting from 1976 on, as well.

WOW, my birthday. I turned 7 years old. First grade. I actually liked soaps as a child. I stopped liking day soaps around the age of 13 or 14. Still loved the night time ones like Dallas and Knots Landing.
The hair in the 70's to early 80's was possibly the best it ever was, ever? It was styled sooooo gorgeous. The waves, blonde hair wasn't drab, they had the most gorgeous natural looking tones in the hair and not those strange chunky highlights of today... whatever they were doing then was amazing. The clothing was sooooo stunning too. I try to emulate that style as best as I can without looking costumey.
I still love Tracy but these were my favorite Tracy days in 79 & 80. She still puts people in their place today but she has a softer side to her. Back in these days there was nothing soft about her. A force to be reckoned with for sure! Could put the best of them in their place!
Never liked Tracy she is nothing but a fake all she dose is yell at everyone. Always starts trouble and sticks her nose where it don’t belong.Almost try’s to kill her Father she stood there while her Father was having a stroke. Well even though her Father made it seem that way. Lets us just say it was not a stroke her Father Edward did that to see if she would help him if he ever did have one. Tracy did not or would not help him either way. She was also very greedy self centered and just a very big bully.Never liked Tracy never will JMHO honest never humble not where she is concerned! Tracy was always uncaring about anybody but herself or what she can get for herself or/ and her Daddy. Now Tracy always loved to impress Daddy dearest. Although I always liked Edward he is to funny at times. Yes Tracy did say to anybody the truth just as long it was not about herself. JMHO. Thanks. Rosie

Luke and Laura had chemistry here already and imo... Laura was getting all schoolgirly and blushy with Luke... definite crush going on. So this is why the rape not being entirely rape was ok for the public, I suppose. I think she was in love with him at the time of the rape, not that it made it any less rape from his side but still...
SO interesting to hear Tracy's voice at times during this period..... so much higher, almost falsetto relative to its tone in her later stints. I wonder if that was on purpose for the character and then Jane Eliot just gave up and let her voice be more natural when she returned in the early 90's.
I'm not sure why GH just didn't spend an hour showing Jeff Webber walking around in his jeans. That man had a package. Good heavens - Annie and Jeremy could truly suck the life right out of a room.
My Mother was a fan watched daily until her passing in 2008 my Father watched with her and after her passing he was a fan of the Sonny plot line he past this year joining my Mother
GH put Genie Frances and Anthony Geary back together as Luke and Laura Kill the Casadines off show for good, also kill Kevin and Ryan and Scottie Baldwin. If you do this, your show will go back to being the number one ratings. Anthony Geary needs Laura as his wife and Genie Frances needs Luke as her husband. We love General Hospital but haven't seen it since 2006. We is EVERYONE IN DURHAM NC. Thank you!!!!!

I'm still rooting for Scotty and Laura to get back together as an end game. Rick and Monica make me sick to this day. I've not forgotten their first affair on Jeff - then Monica pulled the same moves against Alan.
I Did not pick up on it when I watched it as a teenager , but re-watching these scenes as a adult , I realize laura did do scotty dirty , she used him 2 get herself out of the david Hamilton mess.....
Are you implying Rick is Jason’s father! Rick never slept with Jason’s bio mother Susan Moore. There was a paternity crisis with AJ but it ended with Alan being his father.
@@tammymartinez7488 Not implying that at all ... just commenting on the uncanny resemblance between the actors. If they had gone the route to rewrite AJ's heritage, Steve Burton would have made a more fitting AJ in his resemblance to Robinson. Just musing, that's all.
Amy has absolutely gorgeous brown eyes. I HATE the horrid blue contacts she was wearing by the late 90's. They looked fake and scary and hid her baby browns.
“Seduction scene” I always hated that GH tried to justify rape just because they wanted a super couple to boost ratings! Watch a RU-vid clip of lucky berating Luke for the rape. Even Lucky l&l son knew what it really was!
Did anyone wear a bra at this time lol? Kinda looks like the ladies just let things... hang as they will LOL... doesn't look vulgar or anything to me. Looks different though. Tracy does not have a bra on... and it doesn't appear Laura does either.
These old episodes are all at once fascinating and frustrating. Love the history, but the overacting, bad sets and production is pretty much making each angrey.
