I need to meet this lady! I love her thinking and how she’s using interlocking bricks. I tell my parents all the time that Ghanaians waste too much money on unnecessary expenses when it comes to building. And they don’t want to change because their friend did this and that. Thankfully, with videos like this I’ve been able to save my parents thousands of dollars on their project!

Interlocking Bricks does have its advantages and also disadvantages. Always good to always consider both the Pro's and Con's before making any decisions. Regardless am glad to see this amazing lady promote bricks/interlocking bricks to the Ghanaian people. Advantages: Economical: Interlock bricks are made of cement with the addition of cement and sand, so they are made of cement at a lower cost than conventional bricks. In fact, interlocking bricks cost 35% less than conventional bricks. Interlock bricks may contain 10% cement, with the remaining mixture containing soil and sand. Earthquake resistant: The reason is simple. Ordinary brick relies on mortar for its support system. If the mortar fails, the entire wall or building will fail. But interlocking bricks have their own support system that does not depend on the mortar. They effectively support each other. Governments recommend: In earthquake-prone areas, some governments recommend interlocking bricks. Interlocking bricks may be a better choice if you are building in an earthquake-prone area. Better insulation in hot areas: Interlocking bricks are also suitable for hot areas. Because it is compressed, it has more mass and the brick keeps the interior of the building cooler. Environmentally friendly: The use of interlocking bricks can help protect the environment. Not only will they use less concrete and mortar, but building occupants will not need to use as much air conditioning as the interior temperature is lower. Disadvantages: Damage caused by daily use: Unlike conventional bricks, interlocking bricks are generally not plated. On the one hand, it may save you some money and time in advance, and result in more wear and tear. The reason why plastering is not used is because the interlocking bricks are already made with exterior designs. Low resistance to extreme weather: Interlocking bricks are less resistant to extreme weather conditions, including heavy rain, as plastering is not used. In fact, they are more likely to be damaged by leaking water compared to conventional bricks. Low resistance to infection: For the same reason, interlocking bricks have a lower resistance to pest infection. Plastering is an important buffer to protect against insect infections. Not suitable for high-rise buildings: Interlock bricks are not safe for high-rise buildings. In fact, they are only good for the first three floors of a building. That is why interlocking bricks are usually reserved for residential buildings and are not used to construct commercial buildings.

Informative video, Will appreciate it if the below points are answered in the next update. 1. Will be great to get a full house tour, how the pipes are arranged in the washroom, how the broken edges of the bricks are taken care of. 2. How easy it is to make alterations eg. changing pipes or introducing a new wall etc, as its much easier cutting into blocks 3. A test of durability of the bricks against push 4. Water and salt (building in a water logged area) 5. Can mortar still be introduced into the dry stacking? 6. Can the bricks be redesigned to allow the locking sides to stick out much better ?

That was the question I have too! Are interlocking blocks recommended for fence walls, and would they be cost effective in comparison to cement blocks? My building is already up. I’m bummed that I didn’t know about this before. Thank you for your response. 😊

Yes you can use interlocking bricks for fence walls without columns.
@l.e.sparklesfkaelliesparkl5875
Are these bricks still chiseled to inlay electrical and plumbing piping?
@AfricaBuildingHub
@AfricaBuildingHub Год назад
No but rather cut. No construction wall (being it sandcrete or burnt bricks or interlocking bricks) is supposed to be chiseled but rather cut to avoid weakening structures.

With the interlock bricks building wouldn't ants and other small small insects enter from outside into the interlocking bricks to the room,, Because cracks from the cement blocks ants comes to the room

It’s a good question. But the bricks are put together very compact

Does it mean when the company is constructing a standard house for a client, the rough figure of 180000 or 200000 will cover everything from start to finish. I mean a complete building with roofing?
