After 12 months off due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, the baseball field needs a major tuneup. Take a look at the before and after of my field work to restore our field
I have been helping out with coaching little league. No experience from maintaining the field. Do you know of a good resource that explains whats needed/required regarding the specs of the field and best practices and rehabilitating old fields?
This looks like a bunch of fun,not like “oh I wanna go fix up a baseball field everyday” but the kind of fun where you get to see your project transform from a crappy field to a beautiful playing surface, and I bet hearing people say “wow the field looks nice” is awesome after all the hard work
This looks great. I would love to get our field looking like this! I dont have the tools or man power to get all of this done for ours though. Nice work!
That's the work of someone who Is dedicate, educated, motivated in what he does, it's perfect.....never seen anything like that before, that like a 250,000 job!!
Your players are lucky to play on a field like that. While in college, us players had to maintain the infield. Bad hop? Fix the field. Lip? Broom more. I'd love to take some ground balls on this field. Wow.
Man great work! I live here in the area (Woodland Hills) and help take care of our fields and was wondering if we could chat sometime and get some of your advice on what we can do to improve things. Great work man. Huge fan of your videos.
This is what we need to have done at our league. I became the president of our league in March 2021, Covid messed everything up in terms of field care. The past two presidents before me ( one plead guilty on 7 felony counts of stealing $47,000, the one after is currently under investigation) didn’t take care of the fields. We now have dedicated board members who want the league and our fields to be better. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. You did an amazing job on this field and I’d like our fields to look like yours. Thank you for your time and service to the players of your community.
As someone who has a degree in this, and has done it at the professional baseball level, nice work. 👍 Looks like you've had some prior experience with this (and if not, I'm very impressed).... How long did it take you? A baseball field is a Zen garden. You can literally get lost for days in its serenity. Don't forget to topdress that infield 😎
Thanks. Yes, I used to be a Groundskeeper for the San Francisco Giants. Yes, we topdressed and conditioner post video once our season started. Thanks for the kind words
@@CoachTooz awesome! Went to the same school as, Greg (MSU). Had the pleasure to meet him once, when he came back to give a talk to the program guys. Very smart guy. Does a great job. You had a great opportunity to work with him. 👍
It's a radius off the mound for the back edge of the infield. Put a nail in the dirt right behind the mid point of the pitching rubber. Easiest way I found to mark it out is to use a can of field paint and tie the string around the can. Then walk and paint the arch.
Yes, long story short I showed up (3 hour drive) on my weekend with my truck to pick up infield mix on the weekend, they didn't have my mix, so I took the clay/silt (mostly clay) that they had and mixed sand to make my own make shift infield mix. I do soil amendments every year to the infield and get engineered mix to meet what I'd like based on soil test.
Yea, back right when Covid hit. It was the rules I was given, and I like to follow the rules, especially since I'm documenting and posting myself on someones property who has told me I need to wear a mask.
