Geordin, l would like to stand around a braai with you & chat. I do not hero worship BUT l am so appreciative of what you & Winde & John & your speaker & every other energetic, motivated & intelligent DA person is doing. HUGE CONGRATULATIONS 👏👏👏
Wow the mayor is doing a wonderful job in Cape Town, based on war against loadshedding. I agree with the mayor that EFF should be weakened and we need to educate our few brothers and sisters. Education should focus on based on law and order. What has happened in parliament is out of order and I tired of Malema tendency of misleading our youth.
@Geordin Hill-Lewis... Great to hear about everything is going in Cape Town. Please stop erecting robots in Cape Town and the greater Cape Town. Please start using circles or replacing robots with circles to keep the traffic flowing in Cape Town.
Herman Mashaba of ActionSA seems extremely confidant that they can scoop up a large percentage of those people who have stopped voting - in fact, have already clinched a sizeable percentage. ActionSA sells themselves as a "democratic party" so it might just be worthwhile for the DA (if they have not already done so), to liaise closely with Mr Mashaba. A coalition will only succeed if you have parties who agree on a number of fundamental principles.
agree 5000% . these parties need to sotp attacking each other and work together (but at the same time do their own campaigns but not attack each other - like the DA attacking small parties that they useless).
Cape Town is a rich province??? But Mpumalanga surely has more resources an money??? Yet Cape Town is richer in attitude, th right attitude..... GO Cape TOWN.... SHOW TH REST OF SA WHAT'S not only possible but what's deserving of. SA citizens???!!!....
WHAT THE PEOPLE WANT 🙄. "Could Cape Town become the Financial Power House of South Africa?" Well, this could be plausible after all to be the Power House one needs Power. Clearly Johannesburg is failing big time in that area so for those individuals who can't afford to leave South Africa immediately, it would make sense to move down to the Western Cape before finally bidding fairwell to ANCVILLE and all its ????? There isn't a definitive word in the dictionary.. I looked. Those that are forced to stay do this. Do your due diligence and examine each party and select the one that you believe will work for your children's future in the next elections 😉. Those that have left and are planning to leave. Don't feel bad. Your children's future 👍 is the most important thing.
In a state of disaster it would be beneficial for the voting public to be informed in a weekly progress report, endorsed by the chief public servant - aka the president of the country, detailing what has been achieved in the past week and the goals for the following week. This is similar to a business management report. It should detail confirmed progress made on: What has been achieved regarding the various measurable aspects of blackouts: including number of hours/megawats shed to target. Payments collected from errant municipalities etc. How many criminals were apprehended, how many were actually braught to court, how many were sentenced etc. What measurable progress has been made regarding transport/prasa etc And similar measurables for each minister. This would show transparency and accountability and restore faith in the government.
You mean being data-driven! Yoh wouldn't that be amazing. In fact if just one party were to twig on this, their reach would be significantly multiplied.
Now if we had this kind of leadership throughout all 9 provinces South Africa would be an amazing country, pity we have the ANC criminal syndicate running the show.
dressing up country-wide power failures in quasi technical terms like "load shedding" is just a cheap gimmick to normalize the decay of 30 years of anc rule
Load shedding is the correct technical term from Eskom's perspective. (ie they are shedding load they do not want). From the customer's perspective it is a power outage.
@@cccmmm1234like rapid unscheduled disassembly instead of explosion? eskom is not fit for purpose, unless you understand its main purpose is illicit wealth redistribution among anc ruling class.
fix current units at Eskom we have enough capacity and then invest in nuclear, waiting for 2 years of stage 6 load-shedding will cripple our economy.Renewables are not the solution for loadshedding because of intermittency
Doing a great job under the circumstances. The influx of people is destabilizing many areas of Cape Town and we can only but think it is a strategy of the ANC to try and unseat the DA. The eastern cape from where they originate is an absolute disaster - Peace Time Builders
Looks like the same mistakes are being made on energy supply as in Europe. Renewables are unreliable and the costs of trying (and failing) to address this pushes up energy costs. Cape Town should ignore the flawed UN narrative on climate change and build more reliable affordable coal power stations. My new book Climate Change for Young People: The Antidote to Eco-anxiety explains how attempts to reduce emissions inevitably fail and are unnecessary because the radiative power of carbon dioxide is limited as it becomes saturated at the wavelengths it operates at.
What about an Independent Cape. It is the only answer. The DA is not going to succeed in the rest of the country, the ANC/EFF will never let that happen. The DA is a Cape party, where the ANC/EFF has already accepted that they have no chance in ever taking. Cape independence is the only hope we have.
The Cape Town government needs to think strategically about how to manage the influx of people into their city.. They need to introduce measures to attract the right calibre of people that will add value to the mother city as well as people who are not hoodwinked by the ANC. Failure to do so will result in the DA losing power of the city in the long term as well as the city degenerating.
If the City of Cape Town really wanted to, it could end load shedding in 10 weeks and then start rebuilding our local economy and add desalination and sewage mining and then start exporting electricity to the rest of the country.
About a DA-ANC coalition, Geordin mentions cordon-off the EFF. Put another way, if the ANC and EFF go into coalition, the DA will be set back a few decades more.
Everyone is forgetting that Eskom will just load even more cuts on the WC to support the rest of the country. We have to become fully autonomous from Eskom
Mr Hill-Lewis, let me first and foremost commend you on your administrative skills. However your understanding of geo-politics is not on point. I don't blame you as you have been duped by western (corporate) mainstream media like most people. I challenge you to listen to independent news sources like Redacted. Also listen to the likes of Prof. John Mearsheimer (American political scientist), Colonel Douglas Macgregor, Scott Ritter, Tucker Carlson, Tulsi Gabbard amoungst others (you can RU-vid all of this). You will be surprised to learn that Russia is not the aggressor in this conflict. They invaded Ukraine because of the breach of the Minsk agreement by the US and their lapdogs NATO amougnst many other things. Zelenski and his cronies are the most corrupt government in Europe. Their atrocities include genocide of ethnic Russians living in the Donbas region and neo-nazis affiliations. The US and their demented warmongering President Biden don't want peace and are fueling this war. The US government is the most blood drenched organisation in the world and together with corporate America thrive on destabilising other countries for power, profit and basically maintaining their hedgemony. The most recent debacle around the blowing up of the Nord Stream pipeline, Biden has just been exposed for doing this by probably the greatest investigative journalist of all time Seymour Hersh (an American). Just this week a rally took place in Washington arranged by Rage Against the War Machine (Americans!). Why is the mainstream media not reporting on this? Please please please , check out this link - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uvAGQvg1KCs.html&ab_channel=Redacted - (copy & paste it in your browser).
RUBBISH NOT CAPE TOWN just people buying through the municipality in Cape Town. People on prepaid meters will not be included they will still have to buy direct from Esmom
I truly hope that we,the cape, could do the ‘cape exit’ thing. We are rapidly 😊growing towards independence, so why keep paying to support the rest of SA failing system.
@@johannstrauss3779 I would be happy to pay more for stable power - it's a small price compared to the current loss of business and destruction of the economy
@@ivanshamley3534 in that case you can achieve total independence with existing products imported into South Africa. As for the majority if our retail prices goes up to past R2/kwh we lose our competitive edge and exports will plumit with close to 50%
@Jasonv van Heerden fact is we in RSA will loose our competitive edge if prices for electricity exceeds R2/kwh a big part of our economy was built thanks to the cheapest electricity in the world during that time. Now we've lost our edge its a spiral downwards from here. We don't have an edge in any industry no more
@@richardgrant4718 not only that, do you know how much battery storage costs, expect the price of electricity to rise just from that... why dont they just buy those nuclear ships (or rent) from russia, can probably have it here and working with in the year... but they must now go F'ing green, like thats the main priority here
nah mate, sorry loads of younger people wanna gtfo this clown country. Next generation of tax payers are gatvol and are taking their skills with them, this country aint competitive in an ever globalzing world
Not acceptable listen all “yours” representative guys, with all lies, just after 4:30 hours load shedding!! Do u know how many foreigner people already left this Country.. that lost lot of money!! Choose to leave Here is worst decision of my life, but fortunately I open eyes on time!! 😱🤡🤥🙈🙉🙊
I want to help get 500mw on the grid before the 36months but scared if I get the funding .that I will get taken out. That is what happens when you can get power onto the grid and end loadshedding. Ok but not complete but maybe can get funding to put 2000mw onto the grid . But I have to wait and see if people will trust the words of the cape town DA
We have to stop blaming political parties. If 50% + 1 of people vote for ANC + EFF, and that's the coalition in 2024, then the people have gotten what they've voted for. It's not for the DA to throw it's voters under the bus in order to "save South Africa"
Only our God and our savior Jesus Christ can save us now,and he is coming very very soon for his bride, after which all hell will brake loose here for those who are left behind on earth 🙏 🙏
How about having a lucky draw for voters. Each vote is entered into a draw and you can win xyz regardless of which party you voted for as long as you vote.
Yip the plan was about to launched in joburg then AL JAMAR came in IS AS MAYOR. When vote of no confidence ( a rubbish vote) was done against Mpho Palatse and Michael Sun DA MMC FOR INFRASTRUCTURE.
500MW hehehehe, that will make a 'massive dent", LOL, in the 10,000MW needed in SA (Yes I know you want to do it just for Cape Town, typical DA thinking, and that is why DA will NEVER be the Government of SA), and we can be pretty sure that 500MW will be at a PRICE, a MASSIVE PROFITEERING PRIVATE CORPORATE CAPITAL PRICE. Loadshedding OR PAY THROUGH YOUR NOSE will be the DA "solution"
Why vote DA ? There is so much better options than the DA. The DA has proven they can't work together with other parties. They are ok at ruling a city but I have questions about ruling the country and if they will be able to unite the country. The DA also have their internal power struggles.
your post reads like something a paid misinformationist would say. You said the name DA four times without mentioning an alternative, and none of it was positive. The DA has made the 2nd biggest city into the best run city in the country. The western cape province is also the best run province.
All true , but would they be able to work togther in a coalition with other parties. No doubt they are efficient but so were the old nationalist government. What is the DA's success rate in the Squatter camps and in places like the Cape flats , still some of the highest crime rates in the world. I agree they do have some of the capacity to govern but not alone. I see our future government a one governed by a coalition , not a one party rule. The DA showed their true colours in Johannesburg , they couldn't work together in a coalition with the Patriotic Aliance. The DA just want to call the shots. The smaller parties stand a chance to make a real difference in the up and coming elections , everyone must just get up and go vote.
@@jacoschlebusch9053 people care more about jobs, crime, healthcare and education. anc and eff are corruption merchants breeding only crime, unemployment and decay. no one cares about which political party has the most harmony. A growing economy that outpaces population growth is the solution to the squatter camps that you mention. anc or eff in power is the terminal illness killing south africa
