The way Ghost rearrange songs they cover is one of their strongest attributes, imo. Their covers of Here Comes the Sun and If You Have Ghosts are hauntingly brilliant.
Enter Sandman in Reno - fantastic. I just can't get over what catharsis this music is, no wonder people love Ghost so much and say they are brought to tears. The definition of art.
I saw them last night. Fucking amazing, as usual. Unfortunately, Volbeat has canceled less than 10 hours before the show, and people were so pissed that half the stadium was empty. It was sad, but luckily the people who stayed behind more than made up for it, and I know Papa felt the love. Flawless as always.
@@captaincaptain2128 probably because Nampa is to Boise as Catonsville is to Baltimore. it's just easier to say the more widely-known metroplex of which the GPS coordinates are a suburb. either that or they did it to piss off the massive pedants, either way a win!
hearing the crowd sing right along with them is epic chills 2 great bands merging together and the crowd was in it all the way, music is one of the best art forms there is (especially metal)
Love how Scandinavians can be brutal and yet, like Germans, love the classical music infusion of Bach, Grieg etc. Nice sound on this classic song, thick
With the piano/vocal into, I would not have been disappointed if the cover was all piano/vocal. The intro was a good indication on how amazing a full piano/ vocal performance would've been
🤯 the fact that I’m only just now hearing these guys for the first time (thanks to TikTok)… And I’m Swedish 😂 just wow, I mean, the feels I’m getting are “proof that rock is far from dead”. 😅 I’m crushing so hard rn.
@@billschwanitz669 Not for that...I Think they can cover anything they will,as they always did in they’re mighty history. I was referring that Ghost’s songs are too much “light” and easy.
Forge will always have the crowd cheer for his crew and management. He knows that his crew behind the scenes are more ghost than the actual band. Without them, he wouldn't be able to tour. Very little bands cheer the road crew and it always makes me happy when bands do 😁
That's the first time I've heard that tired old song in 20 years and actually enjoyed it. Ghost absolutely fucking smashed it! For what it's worth, Tobias Forge idolizes James Hetfield. In an interview Forge called Hetfield "One of the greatest fucking guitarists to ever walk the Earth." So it's logical he'd want to cover something by Metallica. Audio sucks. Not complaining though. For a cellphone video it sounds pretty good. Many thanks to the guy who posted this. I enjoyed the hell out of it.
If you want good audio, the studio version of this is part of The Metallica Blacklist, which is a compilation metallica did with the anniversary boxset which contains a ton of covers from the black album by some very interesting artists. Should be here on youtube or on whatever streaming platform you prefer
One other thing that Metallica fans might be interested in: some years ago Motorhead covered this song and for me it's by far the best version, superior to the original. But then this is MOTORHEAD we're talking about. This was long before the Blacklist project so it's not on there, but there's a convenient official video of it on RU-vid if you just do a search for it.
Ive always gravitated to bands that used face paint ever since i got into KISS in 1975. ive never been disappointed KISS GHOST Crimson Glory King Diamond mudvein theyre all great unique bands.
I love how Ghost managed to release the new upcoming album and have nothing pandemic related on it. Just keeping true to their thing. No cheap songs about a spreading disease, they already did Rats and that was enough. Thanks Papa Emeritus IV
Woah! The aesthetics are changing. New masks, guitars and i even think think players. The rhythm guitarist play style looks to different. I like the old masks but change is always good whens its done well. Im here for it!🤘🏽
@Iron Reagan Yah that eight total members as always kinda been over kill since the last incarnation of the band. Yah the Fantomen are still there. I think some sort of uniformity would be cool though. I haven’t looked back at the video so not sure if there is some uniformity. I’m big on seeing the movement patterns of players and I think for sure the two guitarist are new “guns for hire”. Yah these guys are fun I don’t see why people dislike them so much. Good songs are good songs.
@@mariobertrand6305one of the guitarists couldn't use the Fantomen as it was too heavy for them and was uncomfortable, so they have a Fender now. Fender sponsors them but the bassist (I think?) still uses Fantomen while the guitarists use Fenders
@@bunbunbun01 The lead guitarist used the fantomen pretty high up. A height like that would need something like a strat i totally get it. The bassist ive always noticed the bassist use fenders. Both p bass and jazz bass.
@@mariobertrand6305 I wouldn't say that this amount of members is overkill. They sound incredible live. With this amount of members their harmonies sound fantastic and they don't need almost any audio playback. 95 of everything you hear is played live which is pretty impressive considering how layered Ghost's songs are.
I don't understand why Metallica doesn't do that thing 'now I lay me down to sleep' together with the audience. When they do it live it is always cut short because they play faster live...
they r not going to detroit this year so i have to go to toledo,oh. to see them it sucks but i will go dig out my sled🚁🔄🔃♿🎶🎶 hope it doesn't start 🌨🌨 on me🥳🥳 great video
I LOVE Ghost and have seen them twice. Once at the Sylvie in Madison Wisconsin and once at the World Arena in Colorado Springs. Their show is awesome. My only criticism would be for Tobias to not talk so much. There are times during the show when there is no music for 5 minutes at a time because he's talking to the crowd. It's just my opinion and they seem to be doing just fine. Other than that, I can't wait to see them again.
I like to think Tobias talking isn't so much for him to indulge his love of playing Papa Emeritus so much as giving the band a chance to catch their breath, tune their guitars and maybe rehydrate
Metallica has acknowledged ghost though? This song is literally on the tribute album. It's official. They don't need to compare to anyone, they have their own sound and it's fantastic. It's okay to like both versions, my dude.
Metallica is just different. Saw the second of the 40th Anniversary shows in person and they played a cover of “Am I Evil.” They do songs better than the originals.
Saw them 1/31/22 in Salt Lake City. Ghost was amazing. I know Ill get hate for this, but Volbeat, though they were very polished they were also very generic and vanilla. And I loved the opening band Twin Temple as well.
