JON THE BOSS He's still amazing XD I mean like he said Ghost was never meant to be a "band" in the traditional sense, they've said years ago in interviews that they are primarily entertainers with a message. They're called "Nameless Ghouls" for a reason, they were meant to be interchangeable, replaceable, and only secondary. The focus was always on Papa Emeritus and the music/presentation itself
This bassist is the guy who recorded most of the guitars and all the bass on Meliora, incluinding the solos. Henrik Palm his name, and he is an amazing guitarist and bassist.
I love the occasional raspy sounds in Tobias Forge's singing voice. He has really one of the best sounding voices in the music industry apart that he also makes an ecxeptional music too!
this got me shocked with how deep his voice is unlike original. i... that is not the only thing he goes deep. this went deep in my brain with how wonderful this is. and Ghouls are just making everything perfect.
Papa's vocal range is truly underrated, incredible control I noticed throughout his live shows. Even with his voice cracking towards the end he still he keeps the melody smooth and crisp. Papa has a nice tone even though it's a bit nasally he pulls it off well but what really sets him a part is his rhythmic vocals, it's as if his voice dances to melody of the song. I would assume his vocal range is at least 3 octaves, 5 and 1/2 notes, Papa is truly a talented vocalist.
Josh Rose With this version, I always get nervous when he does the high note in 'holds' during the line "the disobedience that holds us together...." I keep thinking that he's sometimes hit and miss on the higher notes, but that's just me overthinking it.
I love how he wears paint over another mask and wears a wig completely changes his apprarence to become papa even his accent changes tobias is a genius when it comes to stage theatricals
Bruh Sans I'm kind of new to ghost.... Can you explain a little more please? I've been a fan of other metal bands and was just introduced to ghost about 3 or 4 months ago.
I am amazed how he sang with the lower octave. He's really a good singer to be able to have many "voices". And that Alpha solo is difficult because it's with acoustic guitar.. ^_^ Ghost Ghost Ghost
The makeup and prosthetics don't allow Tobias to move his face freely. It's very hard - and all that much more impressive - to sing whilst being restrained.
It's amazing how Papa always has a more powerful, more emotional voice and shows a bigger vocal range live than in the studio recordings. With many singers, if not the most, especially in mainstream music, it's vice versa, for obvious reasons. But Papa? On CD, he's good. Live, he's great.
The acoustic versions of this masterpiece of a song are amazing. The way he bridges 'we are falling' gets me every time. Singing along to this one, I can't reach his lower (baritone) range so I'm always singing an octave or two higher
tobias is literally never off pitch , he always sounds perfect and his voice could really shine in the acoustic! also the solo on acoustic guitar sounded so good
I wish I could play the guitar as good as the nameless goul thats insane! I almost cried at the solo an then papa startet to sing... They are incredible!
I've listened to quite a few of their live performances (and hopefully will see them myself this year), but this is one of the few songs where Papa sounds emotional, no matter the venue. The Ghouls even seem to get very involved in this song in particular. Just always good to see an artist enjoy their own work :)
holy shit when you see actual talent....it amazes you. haven't seen a good unplugged album since niel young in the 70's. FINALLY a band with talent that doesn't need special effects to achieve the feelings their music entices
I like it so much better in the higher register (after the first two verses, which I thought were too somber). What a beautiful song. I first heard it an hour or two ago and I can't stop listening to this and Circe. It's been YEARS since I had a new song or band to get enthused about. 😊😊😊😊
the Ghouls are crazy skilled and talented, I know Tobias is the mastermind but this band wouldn't be as good with such talent in the execution of the songs 💕 hail Ghost, hail Papa, hail The Ghouls!
I think he started a lower octave in the beginning so he could go up in the last chorus. It adds dimensions to the song when no background vocals are present. It could also be early in the day and he hadn't warmed up yet. You can tell when he says the disobedience that holds us together. The acoustic version at the bandit awards is in the normal key.
