I wonder who was the moron who decided to use the music for the end credits... they used this scene as a teaser for the movie and guess what, it had the original music, but when I went to the cinema it suddenly had a different music
Movie barely even started and it already gave the audience massive blue balls. I mean, this song is literally PERFECT in every way for the intro, and they opted for some generic bullshit song. Look no further for proof of Hollywood being Hollywood than this.
OMG YES!! THIS should been the music they used for this sequence! I liked this music but they dropped the ball SO HARD on this one thing! I can only IMAGINE how my brain and heart would've exploded if this was in the actually movie! This intro is basically a combination of both intro songs use in the GITS and GITS 2. God I love this franchise tho...
Ghost in the Shell and Innocence were each once in a lifetime experiences and we got to experience them both in our lifetime. When I think about this, traffic jams are not so annoying.
I saw the original anime earlier this year and then watched this video the other day when I wanted to enjoy this epic soundtrack again. Now I've seen the live action one and was totally disappointed by the intro. I didn't knew this was a fancut :(
Had they done this, the movie would have gone from a 6/10 to a solid 8/10. It's a decent enough adaptation for what its worth, but the misuse of the classic GITS "chanting" theme was by far my biggest complaint. Why stick that in the end credits? Just... why?
From what I heard, this was essentially how the movie was in test screenings except a bit quieter, but it was replaced before general release. I suspect either Production I.G. slapped DreamWorks with a Cease and Desist or (more likely) an exec at Paramount ordered it removed for "not being American enough". 😓
Ok here is the perspective of someone who didn't see the original until few minutes ago and just knew the 2017 adaption: When I was in the theatre I freaking loved the intro & the music, I think it is an amazing opening by itself BUT seeing the opening of the original few minutes ago kind of made me understand how people are feeling about it. The original score is a tremendous piece of art and conveys this strange religious larger than life feeling, its like witnessing human becoming god through their creation. Now seeing THIS gave me shivers. I can't understand why they didn't go with it. I still love the official 2017 version but this here is simply on another level. I also think that this movie really isn't the worst anime adaptation even though they could have made it something truely special if they dared to, but hollywood played it safe...
The hollywood movie was as a movie ok. The anime was a cornerstone in cyberpunk often mentioned as source of inspiration for dozens of books, comics or movies, the Matrix included. So yeah. I agree with you.
Both sequences are incredible! Nothing beats the original but I found the film version to be quite inspiring and exceptional as well. The artists behind the live action film did such an incredible job. This film only suffered from writing. I wish they had given the writing to someone equally as passionate about this universe. Yet still, thoroughly enjoyed it.
@@alialtaf3412, she may have had a robotic endoskeleton, but she was still human. And by definition, a cyborg is an organism with any form of bionic/electronic augmentation. Why do you think the term "cybernetic organism" exists?
@@alialtaf3412 I did more research and it wasn't the whitewashing that ruined it. It was the overuse of Blade Runner references combined with poor casting. And if it really was her passion project, Scarlett could've been Assistant Director rather than the main character. She was also too short for the part. Officer Motoko Kusanagi/Mira Killan is 5' 6" (1.6764 m) tall.
@@jeremiahthornton7938 Personally i thought Scarlett was great casting and even Mamoru Oshi himself said so! i'm not too big on the original movie which i find overrated as it was stunning but hollow and lacks story or character development and humanity, i find films like Blade Runner 1 and 2, Robocop and Total Recall (1990) to be better films than the original anime movie and for anime movies i'll take Ninja Scroll, Akira, Ghibli, Vampire Hunter D 1 and 2, Fist of the North Star, etc over GITS 1 and 2 and part 1 i thought was ok but not that great but part 2 sucked ass as it was boring, pretentious and hollow. I like the live-action film the best out of the GITS films so far as it has great characterizations, stunning visuals with practical effects and stunt work and i get to know more about the Major and who is this Puppet Master.
Not having this song play in the movie intro demonstrates the director's misunderstanding of the appeal of the anime's aesthetics to fans, even if the movie still looks good
Or it could’ve been the studio. Everything looked like it was right out of the anime. Maybe I’m more lenient with the live action movie is because there isn’t a definitive ghost in the shell. The first movie was darker than the original manga, and all GITS has their own interpretation, what is the live action one but just another interpretation. Besides, it’s not like Japan does better when they make a live action anime movie. Look at attack on Titan
So bad, i found that video and started it, then i thought - shit i have to stop it to watch it in the movie, but then i read the comments .. and started the video again. So disappointing to read that its not in the movie as intro song. But now im gonna watch the movie and lemme surprise how the shell scene works with another music.. - thx for this video :)
I have no idea. I never got to see the actual movie myself, and this was the first time I heard the Robot Lady's voice! I have to admit though, this would hit home for nostalgia if they put the track in this way! :)
I remembered nerding the f out when I heard this theme in the ending credits. They combined the original 1995 films theme with the opening theme to Ghost in the Shell 2 innocence which I thought was really awesome. Honestly I really enjoyed the movie. To hell with the haters.
Its so messed up how they obtained the brain for this to take place which you find out at the end of the movie that they basically kidnapped some poor girl that hardly anyone would probably miss than extracted her brain against her will to have it inserted into Scarlett Johannsson's character's body.... :O :O :'(
Nice, thanks for doing this! I actually had to pause after the intro of the 2017 version and look for this. The new intro music was a totally anti-climatic experience for me. It's kinda fixed now. Probably had to do with expectations. But everything else in the intro felt very respectful of the old, so why replace that very iconic music with that boring low-key, low-pitch stuff. Anyway, thanks again!
Something that I did not like in this adaptation was the music for making of a cyborg (like many of us). In the animated movie its music is mostly vocals with ancient (to some) and natural instruments. It offset the very mechanical and cyber-aesthetic of the visuals of a mock birthing scene. I'd describe it as a celebration of a birth. A tribe elated at a new and healthy child. This one though... it just felt too mechanical, as well as generic (it has that baseline of every epic/ trailer for a sci fi setting ever). There are some strings for a more natural sound, and even a few seconds of quiet chanting. It makes it all seem way too generi and artifical for my liking. In a way it's too modern and "western" when it was a Japanese story written and made by Japanese people.
Personally, speaking on behalf of someone (I) who bought the Bluray disc and the wall poster at the cinema, I would say that from 1:47 to 1:51 there is a level of art that approaches the anime. The other parts on the entire sequence are not enough to compete. It would cost much more to keep the same quality/pace as Oshii's animation.
This is live action or anime from the creators of Dragon Ball Evolution, Bleach & Attack On Titan comes the new chapter of the hit movie called “The Ghost In The Shell.”
@Metroid2424 did you change anything or did you just dub the original theme? Because if this is a straight dub, it's clear to me Rupert wanted the original theme but some copyright or money problems happened. Because how could you NOT us this.
I looked for a couple different ways to sync the video and audio, and I settled on that big drum hit during the white covering flaking off. I didn't change the video or song. It really should have been like this!
Something I've never figured out... both _Ghost in the Shell (2017)_ and _Terminator Salvation_ show the title *twice* in the opening credits. (Both of them near the start in plain text... then in a more stylized way at the end.) Why is that? Is it some legal thing?
Which version was used for this edit? I don't recognize the second half of the track, which sounds somewhat similar to one of the tracks from Innocence, yet different.
Why? Why the fucking FUCK did they not play this song with the 2017 movie? This intro would have (and did, in 1995) **made the movie**. Literally the only thing they had to do to make the film excellent but they were happy with good. ... I like the song :3
It was poor executed live action...so sad Why not stick on the original story? Instead, they (hollywood) generated typically lame made up story about Major...and made her so emotionally human...
