It's so insanely rare when directors let you do this. 95% of the time you try something different like this and they'll say "It doesn't fit" cause it isn't fast beats and distorted guitars.
The backside of the block I live in, poorly lit by the orange streetlights, it rained all day but, now, long after midnight, it's only windy and silent. I'm all alone in there, I can go wherever I want and the whole city will be just like that: empty, full of night and the smell of wet asphalt. This is exactly what this song makes me feel like.
@@rutabagasteu She has her mind set to connect with the Puppet Master, which will likely be a one way trip, leaving everything behind. Major here is a lot different from Major in SAC. Here she seems determined to escape her life, and the Puppet Master was her way out. She still kept her connection with Batou, though. That's always a plus.
The song and scene brings a feeling when you know taking one step will send you to a way that you can’t turn around. I’m sure Motoko was excited and nervous about what the Puppetmaster had in store and the identity that she needed to find would have better light afterwards. Deep down wanting to find a place where she had no suspicions on her identity but to truly feel alive and herself.
Because we are, we have handheld devices with all the information, communication and power we could ever ask for. Electric Cars reaching horsepower people thought was impossible, giant cities with late stage capitalism everywhere. All connected by an artificial network that spans the globe.
I keep coming back to this track and at night i listen...I feel it strongly resonates with me. Pain, hope, joy, love and despair....all these feelings come flooding back when i close my eyes and hear this. As though the music dances
blade runner 2049 is as perfect as a sequel can be imo. built off the legacy of the original, but managed to expand the story/universe and do its own thing as well.
I envy you - i`d like to see that too. Btw, i saw Miyazaki`s "Spirited away" in the cinema. That was my first time watching that movie. And, you know, i never regret about not watching it before, just to catch it on a big screen. Because that was amazing, considering that i am not into fairytail-like stories. I can only think about what my emotions would be if i`d see GitS or, i dunno, Akira on the big screen. Damn...
I still remember the day when I first saw this masterpiece, the emotions I was filled up with I carry to this day, everytime I listen to this or watch the bay scene, I feel so damn nostalgic, a part of me screams at me reminding me. . . A masterpiece, one for the ages with a soulful instrumental piece. There has never been another GITS like this nor will there ever be, there won't be another movie made in this genre that'll even come close to this one, not in my lifetime unfortunately I believe..
You are special my friend like me. I have shown this movie to other humans and they never understood the concept of the movie and it never resonated with them. 🙏💙
"There has never been another GITS like this nor will there ever be". Love this music (I've always loved deep atmospheric synth chords...) and though I haven't seen this in way over 10 years, I do remember thinking the same. Along with stuff like Akira & Ninja Scroll, GITS1 was a true benchmark of quality. The sequels don't compare, and the series (for me) were 80% ruined by the dreaded "anime cuteness syndrome". All the best stuff seemed to come out in the 80's & 90's. And for me anime was over by 2000 (cuteness syndrome & cgi syndrome).
The people who make/direct anime in the modern world are completely out of touch with the core roots that allowed great pieces like this to exist - it is an industry kept afloat by people who grew up consuming anime, and they seek to create the new by regurgitating the superficial aspects of the medium. For example, when people ask 'how can I make works like Nausicaa by Miyazaki', they seek only to make things look and feel like the media they have consumed that they think evokes that material, go and study at university in illustration and animation, yet the overlook the fact that Miyazaki graduated from university with degrees in political science and economics. As Miyazaki said, many people in the anime industry cant make humans because they cant stand to look at other humans. How can we possibly expect anyone in this day and age to truly say something that speaks to something deeper if their entire lives consist of digital consumption, as it necessitates due to industry pressures?
No Anime movie will ever catch up to Ghost in The Shell. I mean just look at it. The amount of details, fluid animations and artwork are just incredible. Music amplifies it even further. And story? Story is the best part. It puts AOT to a shame.
No, AOT with its amount of twist and build up far exceeds Ghost in the Shell. Plus its has a great length to build up storytelling and iconic characters. But the Philosophy in GITS is more intriguing and open to discussion. It left behind a unique feeling.
Ghost in the Shell is an amazing film, an amazing story. Delving into the very psyche of man, wondering if you are even human as your very person changes around you. It's fascinating, beautiful, and relaxing. Forever one of my all-time favorite films.
I went out for Ramen with some friends, in the City Desert parts of Oslo. It's not a big city, but it has a lot of new buildings, so the cyberpunk vibe was really strong. There was even a garbage truck that came and collected the bins hidden in long shafts under the street, with yellow blinking lights, and there was a slight drizzle too. Holy shed, it was the most cyberpunk meal I've ever had!
@@MrMaddox57 Our current postmodern world is already a dystopia, just not in its final form yet. We already have places with extreme social inequality like Brazil. We already have very poor countries like Venezuela. We already have extremely authoritarian/technological countries and with a many monopolies dominating the entire productive and social sector of the whole society, such as China and the trillion dollar giant BlackRock. We already have countries with a totally consumerist, scientistic and relativist worldview like the USA and Europe. If people are now able to change sex by phenotype, why would the idea of people start to consider themselves robots go too far?
@@SunsetEnds We also have the internet, military tech is crazy, AI is starting to take jobs. Like you said we live in the early stages of a Cyberpunk dystopia, cyborg bodies is the one thing we don't have and would have to see major breakthroughs to be a thing this century.
Great job editing! You have to listen closely and repeatedly to catch the point at which it loops. Even then, you have to know the original version INTIMATELY to identify that point. Excellent.
I think it's because everything that's considered Aesthetic these days is stuff from the '90s. Cowboy Bebop is another one that got into that category.
or just for the lonely night when depressed. Intoxicated, sober, or just plain sad and depressed. Music like this actually can give you something to dream for in the days and years to come.
This is one of the movies that inspired me to become an author and write a sci-fi novel about a military scientist who invents a way to upload his vision of the the woman of his dreams to an artificial human body by way of digital to synthorganic transfer.

Ghost in the Shell is the proof that anime and manga are going down. Im not saying that every anime and manga looks bad today, its just they feel empty.....
@@maxranierus3574 Far from it! I loved both manga and anime. What i was trying to say is that anime today dont have the same charm older anime have. Like they dont fell edgy they fell lightly, considering that anime were suppose to be more darker and drammatic then a normal cartoon.
call me sheltered or naive all any one wants....but this anime frankly changed my life, and continues to at 34, and the music. College kid who fell through the cracks. Now in my thirties, trying to save up for a brighter future before it really becomes too late. Childish or not, I don't care. Inspiration can come from many places, even if they seem laughable or stupid to some. Whatever. I know myself. At least I will NEVER give up.
@@MrMaddox57 Im not saying any of that to you! its great that no matter how old you get its gonna impress you every day, and im whit you(even if im still 16). I was trying to say that anime are gettng bad every year that passes and they will not reach the same level as Ghost in the Shell and other old anime.
Will love this movie until the day I die. I fucking love GiTS. I wish a world like the one portrayed in this franchise could exist with all its technological advancements and philosophies. This might sound like cringe but I aspire to be like Motoko. She's everything I wish I could become.... she's self-aware, fearless, intelligent, resilient, etc. She fights for her beliefs and looks out for her friends.
