I end up running around with the travelers set on almost all the time just to find artifacts. Switch to the Samurai amour during big battles then switch back to travelers.
1. Equip traveler's armor. Explore. 2. Get into a standoff. Call time out, change into Sakai armor. 3. Standoff done! Enemies remain? Time out! Change into Stagger Armor 4. Enemies done! Traveler armor.
The only problem with the Mongol armour is I don’t wanta dress like them haha. So that armour is dead to me. Thanks for the video, I’m just starting the DLC. Loving the game and Jin’s story.
Imagine staring your foe in the eye, you draw your sword ready to duel to the death and right before he flicks his sword from the sheath, he takes his clothes off and puts a bucket on his head.
I just wear the Sakai armour and nothing else do I don't know why I'm here. I just love the role play of it. I'm not a ronin, I'm not a wanderer, I'm a samurai of clan Sakai.
For me the Ghost armour with increased fear charms was by far the best, every single fight enemies would just drop and run away in fear it was far more useful than all of the others which offered higher health/damage.
I don't really use the ghost armor just because of the terrifying effect because I want to improve at the game and I can't do that when enemies are running away
It adds to the feeling of being the ghost. When you strike an enemy down and they all run, it makes you feel really scary and powerful. It makes the game better
my personal favorite armor is the Sarugami armor. Being able to blind enemies in a very wide range simply by dodging or being able to kill 3 people with one parry feels so overpowered, along with the cape and the vanity dyes looking really cool.
@@kennygudz9326 Thats a good combo. I also use the black dye for Sarugami but I like to use the level 2 Sarugami helmet. Those are good options for helmets too though
@@skinnybuddha8988 Literally how it was for me. Side quests just straight up couldn't give me anything since I was maxed out on materials and upgrades.
I had the travelers for the first part of the game, because Jin was a traveler searching for allies. Then I switched to the Sakai Armor, because at this point, Jin was proud of beeing a Sakai. Now I wear the Ghost, because Jin sees himself as the Ghost. I don't really care about specs,: I try to feel with Jin, and the storyline. And by the way, I have a katana.
If you go along with the story, the armors really help you get through the game: Samurai Clan for act I, so you can learn the basics and make mistakes; Sakai for Act II, so you can abuse standoffs before it gets too difficult; Ghost for Act III, when stealth is the best approach.
I usually go ronin act 1, then gosaku/tayadori (short/long range) the rest of the way. But yes, always think of the clan armor as excellent learning armor.
Jin pretty much disregards fighting like Samurai with honor in favor of fighting just as dirty as the Mongols but wearing Mongol armor, that's where Jin draws the line lol
💯 New game+, loadouts, challenge rooms/fort. And Multiplayer, Vs. or Team Up (imagine a dynasty warriors type of Multiplayer with waves & Waves🌊 of enemies)
While I agree with your list, I’d say that the ghost armor could also take the top spot for its versatility. While it doesn’t give massive increases to damage or health, it gives abilities that can be used in multiple builds to great effect, which makes it an extremely easy armor to work with. The terrify bonus in particular is huge since this can easily half the difficulty of a huge swarm of enemies and can honestly feel unfair at times. But the other three armors in the top four are still amazing so honestly I’m cool with whatever.
Here's the thing, the first outfit you get, the Travellers Attire is kind of the one you want to wear the entire game, it looks good, and it uncovers more of the map and allows you to find collectibles, however, you can change outfit mid fight, so I often went for a combo of Ronin/Travellers attire, I basically never wore anything else, besides Sakai Clan, Gosaku and Ghost armour and that was only for trophies
yeah but its useless once you realise the collectibles are easy to find. you uncover the hole map once you take all mongol bases, and then the only collectibles that you cant see on the map are crickets and artifacts ( wich are unworthy unless you are going for trophys ) i definetly don´t recommend you to use the ronin armour in midgame or endgame fights, but if you are happy to do that be happy
Kensei armor The charm that gives you a kunai on perfect dodge The charm that makes perfect dodge easier Charm to increase ghost weapon damage Charm to increase stagger damage Charm that boosts resolve gains and increases stealth by 15% Charm that boosts health and melee damage Thats been my go to setup
This is exactly what I did, kunai are the most OP weapon in the game. I actually found myself changing off this armor because it was so good it made the game not fun. pretty much 25 free kills with 5 kunai not counting the ones you pick up and gain through perfect dodge. It should be #1 easy.
Kunai then dance of wrath. Barely ever get touched. Disagree greatly with the ranking of it on this list. You are fighting mobs way more than you are dueling. That being said these lists are always subjective. It depends on the way you play. Tbh there is no point in ranking the armors in this game. Charms matter too much to rank armors instead of builds.
Samurai Armor all the way. As soon as I got it in the beginning nothing else made more sense. So dependable and the resolve gain was just crazy. I didn’t ever skip a single chance to fight groups of enemies so it suited my play style lol
Personally I would rank the kensei armor higher purely because that boost to resolve gain is so good. Combine that with a couple resolve boosting charms, the charms that give a random chance to return spent resolve, and the fortune charms to boost that random chance, and you end up with a build that will literally never run out of resolve allowing you to spam heavenly strike as much as you'd like, making it amazing for group fights and bosses alike.
So would I. My top three would be Gosaku, ghost, and kensei in no particular order, mostly because of the combo potential between armor perks and charms.
Kensei armor is ridiculous if you play it right, “right” in this case being spamming appropriate ghost weapons to get resolve and quick kills back and using resolve abilities when you have resolve to spare after a group kill or when you’re full up. Optimally you’d combo, like throwing a sticky bomb into a cluster whose approaching you, using kunai to debuff and disabling the dudes in front of you and use dance of wrath to clean up. Amount of stuff you can do with Kensei armor is crazy but it’s a very high skill ceiling armor, and it really shines when using ghost weapons to even the odds against large groups. I’m no where close to mastering it. Ghost armor shines when using a terror build, or a stealth build, or using both. It’s pretty self explanatory imo; use the terror major charm and either use fire doctrine minor/charms of fortune charms for massive terrify chance when you use it correctly, on top of easy stealth kills and ghost stance. Love the ghost armor. It’s perks lend it to a lot of different builds focusing on terror and quick stealth kills, rest is up to the player. Shame it’s gotten so late. Gosaku ofc is op, what with the constant stagger and healing. It doesn’t take an genius to build around Gosaku, although I love the knockdown build you made earlier. Combo it with bludgeoning charms and it makes duels very easy, to the point that it’s probably the best armor for duels. Overall a great armor that you can use to finish the game as soon as you get it.
Agreed for stealth I think gohst is best because you can only kill up to four enemies in the mongrol armor with out real being scene but if you have a offensive game play I think it’s either saki clan or gosaku armor ( and I apologize for anything misspelled)
Ben Arellanes I think Gosaku is generally better than the Sakai Armor, but if you’re good at standoffs it can beat it. Problem is Standoffs don’t always happen and the get progressively harder in each act.
I wear them for roleplaying purposes. I wear Ronin attire for just traveling around, and the samurai clan armour for fighting enemies in act I. In act II I get gosaku's armour, which, given the fact that it is from a mythic tale, makes sense for it to be better than the samurai clan armour. Upon arriving on iki, I unlock the sarugami armour, and I use it in my time there. It is only after those events that jin finally finds the courage to go and reclaim his father's armour, and so that one becomes his main armour set. I also take the time to unlock the horse armour set here. After the events at the end of act II, it makes sense that jin fully embraces the ghost and uses that suit, but I still like to use the sakai clan armour for big fights, and the kensei armour for wandering around kamiagata, given how cold it is there, and how warm that suit looks.
Got the Platinum today, honestly it's been really amazing and I say one of my favorite armor sets would be the kensei and ronin. Of course it depends on play style and preference. But you don't unlock the ghost armor until near the endgame
hey now that you have the platinum if you still wnat to play the story mode here´s a challenge im doing : Doing all the story as Jin would have, helping the persons he finds, doing the secondary storylines first and all that. Also wearing the armor he would have wear in that moment and not changing mid fight, also trying to do more cinematic combat than op strats. what you think about ?
The Kensei is one of the most top tier armors specially building it right, the Resolve gain is general meaning taking damage and killing enemies increases resolved gained by 30 percent, couple that with the charm that enables you to throw 5 kunais at once and you have an excellent disabling powerhouse. And finishing them off with the sword is the most "Kensei" thing you could do (Kensei means Sword Saint or Sword Master)
The Kensei armor is awesome, I am was confused why it didn't increase the dueling stats since you had to travel all over the place and win 6 duels to unlock the armor. I found the only armor that made a significant impact on my gameplay was the traveler armor. With it equipped it took a few seconds to find the collectible item and without it equipped I missed a lot of easy to find items. The truth is once you unlock the healing ability and you turn into Terminator Samurai it doesn't matter which armor you choose because the only thing that can kill you is you jumping off a cliff.
I say just wear what you think looks best tbh. Enemies die quick anyway, with stance switching/parrying on all difficulties and bosses/duels are one time only, so really no point doing builds with specific armour in mind as if it's like a Dark Souls game.
Yep exactly this. The game is already extremely easy even before these builds, I don't see the fun in just cruising through the game. And then there's lethal difficulty, where you both kill your enemies instantly and they kill you instantly no matter what armor you have on; again making builds irrelevant.
Yea especially if you use the right charm setup, you'll have good melee/arrow damage, healing, and resolve gain. It's mostly about looks, or if you play harder difficulty change armors to be more tanky
I agree with you in all sectors about stats wise but I personally think the Sakai Clan armour and Ghost are significantly better as the story behind both set of armours is honestly somewhat beautiful as well as the way the armours look, its honestly a personal view but you know, that's my personal views. Loved the video and the detail you went into...
Considering you can switch armor easily enough, it's more about figuring out what armor to wear for specific encounters. Or just play on easy mode and pick whatever armor appearance you prefer.
Yeah I agree, this list is out when it comes to the hardest difficulty. "Invincible samurai build"...if your playing on normal 😂 I been using the Kensei Armor all day today on Lethal difficulty...I like the bonus to resolve and also the increases ghost weapon damage.
If you're good at the basics like parry and dodge i don't think the sets make much of a difference on lethal but i do think charms are still the very helpful
For me ghost armor on mobs literally just standoff or chain assassinate and kill last 2 proceed to ghost stance after that everyones terrified already. For boss Gosaku because of the stagger. Kensei i don't really have the time to abuse it since I didn't do the mythic tale for about late act 3 because i really wanted that ghost skin so i bypassed all act 2 side content to rush act 3. Since thta mythic tale for kensei is the best tale of bosses so yea gotta save that for last.
For me the Cape physics are really cool and that's why I ended up using the traveler gear most of the time and only put the samurai armor usually sakai during battles or missions involving plot with shimura or other main characters
The mongols armor is great, and an awesome armor set, that says “Hey! I’m a fierce mongol warrior that came straight out of Marco Polo!” But with the eagle’s wing dye it looks INSANELY better!
I personally try to use mostly just the katana. I like the skill and thought that needs to be given in order to cut everyone down, maybe not in 1 hit, but I try to play just on perfect parries and defence braking. So it doesnt really matter to me what armor I wear.
@@babayaga4320 In lethal mode guards easily break and most of the time you can kill them with light attacks even before they have their guard up again after a parry
For samurai play style gosaku armour is the best. When enemies stagger u can kill them very easily. Plus it give u good few seconds to rapidly attacks enemy. It goes with other styles like archer, ghost or assassin.
Ghost Armour is probably my Favourite, if you have it on max there's a minor charm I forgot that makes the % chance of something occur 50% more often. If you use it with the ghost Armour a maximum of 3 - 4 enemies with get terrified and run away in a random encounter
Just got the Gosaku armor, and I’m torn; the Sakai armor dyed black looks so badass with the bandit face wrap and death headband. I did a black dye to the Gosaku armor, and it wasn’t Batman enough!
I love gosaku's looks but i never used it. It's too op, i pushed his stagger factor too much with charms and it's an absolute train covered in razorblades: if it moves it hurts and you can't just stop it
My favorite set up. I get the white version of the Sakai armor with the red Gosaku helmet with a red/white oni mask so I can be the a real samurai "ghost"
The travelers armor may not have been the best in combat, but I'd have to say...I probably had Jin wearing it 10x more than any other armor. Pretty much always switched back to travelers armor after every combat situation until all the fog of war was gone
Ronin armor. It gives me the raw damage I want. I just challenge everyone face to face unless stealth is required for the mission. I grew up on Anime with Ronin characters(Ruroni Kenshin, Ninja Scroll, Samurai Champloo), so the look and style of fighting has a special place in my heart.
The best thing is there are no restrictions on changing your armor set mid combat if you need to. Hitting the menu pauses the game and it allows you to change your set. So, for example, you're sneaking around in your Ronin gear, you screw up and get spotted, poof you can pause and change into a tank armor . I disagree about the Kensei armor. It's pretty easy to make a Kensei build that will give you unlimited resolve. With unlimited resolve you can just spam heavenly strike and heal at will. Ghost armor is the absolute best, the terrify mechanic is so OP, you can wipe out whole camps in a few seconds with terrify. Most resources for upgrading are very common, you'll have tons of them, so upgrade them all!
Tbh i wish i left a bit left over lol, ended up finished every area before i continued the next act. And so,i had no side content remaining lol, just collectibles.
IMO it really doesn't matter what armor you wear. That's one of the best parts of this game, there's really no need to min-max anything except upgrading your sword/tanto
I propose a challenge to all of you: beat the entire game, free all cities, villages etc and the campaign itself only using the broken armor and stone stand. you can't use any kind of ghost weapon or bows just the katana and your own skills. you can't do stealth, can do standoff but you can use assassinations. good luck fellers
After act 1 I always do the quest for Gosaku armour, and upgrade asap. It looks cool and the perks make it such a tank, especially against large mobs of enemies. After act 2 I only use travellers attire for exploring, ghost armour for taking out Mongol encampment with stealth, and Gosaku for boss fights or large scale encounters. All other armour types weren't needed. Totally agree with the list you made.👍
My favorite is the Ronin outfit. 30% increased melee damage + lethal mode bonus + melee charms. With the right combination, most enemies are one to two hit kills
Glass cannon build, i also use that but will be useless by act 3 due to the fact that most enemies are elite meaning brutes with heavy spears and heavy shields.
I think the best one is definitely sarugami armor. It's not easy to master, especially before upgrading, but after you played with it for a while, it feels the best.
Samurai Clan Armor is my favorite as I mostly play the game as a straight up combat specialist, and it is by far the coolest looking armor in the game, especially with the crecent helmet you get when you upgrade it to lvl 3. And on Masakos 8th quest you can get the Red, Blue and Gold colored version seen here, which is the same color for Shimuras armor and the armor you start the game with. Combine that with the Elegant Fury saddle and the Fuujin's Secret sword you have such an awesome look.
I love the ability to insta swap armor basically anywhere anytime. I always have travelers on, switch to sakai armor before a fight to standoff five enemies, then swap to sarugami to finish the rest off, before finally switching back to travelers (with charm for extra loot) to pick up all the spoils. One of the best quality of life features imo. I remember when I used to play AC Odyssey and it wouldn't let you switch even if you were just in the middle of a super minor animation...
I agree, but not with the Kensei Armor... this is my take... Stealth: Ghost/Mongol Commander's Armor/Ronin Attire (also good for combat) Aggressive/Offensive Fighting: Sakai Clan Armor/Gosaku's Armor Defensive Tank (Best for beginners or those struggling with combat): Samurai Clan Armor Ghost Weapons & Max. Resolve: Kensei Armor (Prob. the most op armor with the right charms equipped) Ranged Combat: Tadayori's Armor There are two minor charms that grant u two bonuses. They are the best for almost every build and I would run them all the time: Inari's Might and Charm of Silence. Why i think Kensei is the best all around armor to use: First of all we're talking about end game, when u have everything maxed out and all charms available. Combine the Kensei Armor with Inari's Might, Charm of Silence, Ghost Weapons bonus and Resolve bonus and whatever main charms you like and this build will absolute melt... your ghost weapons deal so much damage, your resolve is pretty much all the time at max, that means u can use your special abilities as often as u want, u have still very good melee damage and health due to Inari's Might. I experimented a lot and if u enjoy using all the ghost weapons and special abilities as effective and often as possible, this build is the absolute endgame... ;)
Yeah absolutely spot on there. This guy definitely got it wrong by placing Kensei down at the bottom when what you said is exactly what I use and it is 100% the best. I always throw Kunai to injure at least 3 Mongols then use Dance of Wrath to kill all 3. By which stage I will probably have the ghost stance available and destroy even more.
Dont forget the charm that make status effect last 50%longer, that makes the kensei OP with extra kunai and 6 second stun after stagger charm (turns into 9 second stun with said charm). pair that with xtra ghost wepaon dmg charm and then you have a build that makes you utilize evrything in your arsenal rather than just having stuff you never use. IMO, ghost weapons makes the game so much more fun than just swordfighting and not using what the game has to offer.
Kensei is indeed op af and this guy putting it in the bottom makes me really confused. With a good practice using ghost weapon, kensei really turning the odds in every battle i fought. Either when really on low health and then just throw some kunai to get resolve for healing then get back into the fight. And your advice using those 2 inari charms are the same as i thought when i'm seeing this armor. Right now i'm already 100% my game and all the time i using kensei armor and it always get it's job done. My suggestion for the last two sets of charms is either using the double damage charms combined with the 50% chance charms or some other charms for defense depends on style of play.
Kensei armor is not that goated tbh it all mains around ghost weapons which is extremely limited your basically hoping that you have any kunai/bombs etc when you use up all of your ghost weapons the only thing thats good is the resolve gain and its not really that useful Personally i tend to choose armor that is useful in melee combat like the clan sakai armor or the gosaku armor just my opinion tho
Either Gosaku, with the orange tint and Tomoe's fox mask, looks sick and yeah, the stagger damage build with it is awesome. And the Mongol Commander Armor, it is so funny to run around the enemy camps and basically go super-ninja assassin on them.
I agree with Joseph. That armor he listed at #1 is so hideous. The Hero Armor looks the best. I don’t like the armor where the shoulder pads are so big.
My favorite setup to play is the Kensei Armor with the following charms (been using this on lethal all day): Major charms: Black powder bombs set enemies on fire Throw 2 extra kunai Minor charms: The two inari shrine ones fully upgraded - resolve, stealth, health melee damage 20% ghost weapon damage increase 50% damage and duration increase to status effects This build is great, crazy resolve gain and high ghost weapon damage. Them black powder bombs just destroy whole groups 😂 I don't personally love the Gosaku armor on lethal, it leaves little room for error with dodging and blocking. I need a new game + though because I can only test against random Mongol groups since getting my platinum
@@iMarcism yeah, it's great for most of the games combat, especially if you can get the jump on enemies. It's a lot of fun for clearing camps and most of the encounters, not great for bosses/duels. One of the great things about the game though is that all of the armors have a use with strengths and weaknesses.
@@iMarcism I usually find enough at the Mongol camps...if not you can always buy more from the survivor camps! Or you could use the charm to replenish kunai on perfect dodge (bit more dangerous playing on Lethal haha)
in my opinion I think that the sakai armor is the best because if you start a new game and upgrade it it can give you a massive advantage in terms of health and damage. Also the stand off can be really easy once you actually focus on the target's movement.
It’s worth noting that moving into lethal mode makes Tadayori’s almost always the best armor for everything outside of duels, as it faces essentially no increase in difficulty compared to every other set, perhaps barring full stealth builds, but even stealth builds tend to get into melee combat in larger or more open encampments. Interestingly, the set that falls the farthest when moving to lethal is actually gosaku’s, as tanking/healing becomes difficult without using an infinite resolve charm set, and infinite resolve charm sets are more useful on sets other than gosaku’s. Due to infinite resolve builds existing, kensei is somewhat elevated, as, without dlc, kensei is the best armor for infinite heavenly strike, and is a convenient dumping ground for the set in case of emergency, as kensei doesn’t really fill any other niche.
Any other essential armors you would recommend for lethal mode? im doing my third playthrough in kurosawa mode and Tadayori's armor and the Ronin armor have been my main uses throughout act 1 and 2. Tadayori for camps and patrols on the roads. Ronin for duels
@@necrodamus5481 that’s pretty good, certainly until you can get more resolve boost stuff, like through kensei. Barring NG+, most of lethal mode is just grasping the mechanical skills and trying not to die, tbh. NG+ is more game knowledge, but a clean new game on lethal is going to be mostly skill.
@@carlbot2 And good point you made there. Kensei and Tadayori armor are easily the most OP builds even in non NG+. I think anything build that keeps your enemies at a distance and heavily utilizes stealth to some degree is perfect for lethal. Really wish they wouldve included Yari (spear) as a weapon in game for historical accuracy as it was the main and preferred weapon of samurai and it has the reach advantage. It was that or the Yumi (bow). Would be perfect for fighting other spearmen and swordsmen. They at least got something right with Sensei Ishikawa being a model of what samurai normally were.
Ronin's set was my favourite: makes me feel vincible (more exposed to damage) but badass and deadly. With this armor, only button pressing skills count (no ghost stances, no resolve refilling, no bullshit)
The ronin armor has one of, if not the highest damage potential in the game, with the 30% melee buff, which means stacking double damage and fortune charms along with inari's might allows it to destroy bosses.
I've come to appreciate building with the Kensei armour, as I find it the most aesthetically pleasing. For "charging bulls", Gosaku armour can't be beat. I'm into act III right now using Ronin. If you focus on melee damage, Ronin can indeed carry you through the end game. And it has the most skin options.
i don’t have one build, my GoT experience goes this way: 1. Explore the map in Traveller’s Attire 2. Switch to Sakai when encountering enemies for Standoff bonus 3. If any enemies left, switch to Tadayori and headshot the remaining enemies 4. Switch back to Travellers Attire. For bosses, I use the Samurai clan for the first time and Gosaku after to destroy them once I know their move set. Worth mentioning, I play on Lethal otherwise Id probably never change out of the Sakai armour since it’s easily the coolest in the game but not that good stats wise.
I loved changing the armor on Jin depending on the occasion/fight! Every time I knew he had to see Yuna, I made sure he wore something nice! 😂 Ghost of Tsushima was the best game I ever played. Has someone found another game that is similar or just as good?
