This is what happens when games are treated as a genuine art form. It inspires people to look beyond the game as a mere product to being something that can encourage learning, empathy, and real concrete positive change.
@@LadyBern South Park's Rendition of Peter Griffin "If you think that's bad, how about that time me n' the esoteric order of Dagon summoned the Daemon Sultan Azathoth?"
Metacritic keeps it low to hide it from people. This game at 83 should be a crime. Best overall game I've ever played. (no I'm not a hard core gamer like that) they pulled off an amazing base game and an infectious multi-player. I've never played with randos before or even online for that matter.
imagine making a game not only loved by the fans but actually make an impact to the actual location of the game. SP should be proud of themselves. I wish I knew about this, I'd definitely contribute.
It's been a while since it felt normal to put "good news" and "gaming industry" in the same sentence. Then again, the industry didn't do anything, the community did.
@@ClipperFanW I think the OP meant well. Perhaps he should have phrased it differently, but his meaning was the same. I am an indie fan myself. Noita, Factorio, Hades, Risk of Rain 2, Spiritfarer are just some of the games I played (not showing off, but just letting you know I'm not pretending to be an indie game fan). However, majority of the gaming industry is dominated by AAA games. Truth be told, they showed one disappointment after another. So I think this particular story should give all credit to the players, not the industry. This is what happens when the gaming community are given a product that they genuinely enjoy and does not trick them into anything. That's my take on it anyway. Feel free to object.
@@zakjackson2610 It's like a stamp on the world, like proof not just that everything isn't bad, but that bad things can only last for so long. That there are people determined to make things better. It's beautiful.
my eyes were actually watery when i was watching this video , especially part after that priest said thanks and names will be in there from donations ,just .. made my year a lot happier
Sucker Punch is going to disappoint in the future as well. Do not put any gaming company or any company for that matter on a "throne" or pedestal. It is a company after all. They are not your friends
@@blindeagleace3629 Treat them with caution, reward the good and hard work they do (if any) punish the anti-consumer behaviour they commit (if any) that’s how we vote with our wallets/reviews/open critique.
This is what happens when a gaming company respects its customers, and have a love and passion for their game. Respect goes both ways. I feel bad for CDPR, but SuckerPunch has gained a very loyal following and respect from its fans for its great game and free content
@@sasori2425 do you honestly think cdpr realeased the game in the state that it is because of people sending death threats to them , hell no mate . cdpr is a multi million corporation and doesnt give a shit if some maniacs send death threats to them . They only realeased the game in unfinished state because they wanted the game out by christmas , cause thats the prime time for getting the sweet sweet money.
@@sasori2425 Also does not excuse them from releasing the ps4/xbox version at that state, could just delay those version or idk man up and tell those version is not optimise/finished.
Hell, this game made me want to *VISIT* Tsushima irl. Current pandemic postponed those plans, but I've been fortunate enough to remain employed, so I took the time to save up even more for this.
Somewhat unrelated, but I find it interesting that people helping out a tsushima tori gate happened around the time where I took a photo of Jin as a shrine guardian. I dressed him up in a white travellers attire (or graceful pathfinder) with a kitsune hat (new game+ item) and kitsune/tomoe mask, basing him off of another kitsune guardian of a shrine, tomoe from Kamisama kiss. I find it fascinating that just as I took a picutre of protecting a shrine, a tsushima shrine was helped being restored.
I always said the Player's Choice award was the most important one, and this just seals that deal. Really shows how awesome Ghost of Tsushima's playerbase is. Only a truly great game can inspire that amount of selflessness.
Torii Gates are meant to be a bridge of sorts between our world and the gods. Traditional custom, as I understand it, is to bow before walking through one, and to always walk along the edge of the path, to make way for the gods who walk alongside us. My Sensei told me about it once and I might have misheard some of it, but I think that's what they're for.
Although I have certain issues with the game itself, and didn't enjoy it as much as a lot of people seem to, I can really appreciate this kind of positivity surrounding it. SP and Sony's support for the game is great, and people coming together to do this kind of generous, kind and wholesome thing is very heartwarming.
After playing the game (and loving it), I’ve renewed my UK passport and a visit to Tsushima is now firmly number 1 on my bucket list. Number 1 was to Skydive, but I’ve already done this - I’m a British Parachute Association category 10 Skydiver with over 500 jumps. Tsushima will be getting a visit from me on my way to Tokyo (Also on bucket list). New sub, love the channel, Kindest regards from the UK.
How amazing are the Ghost of Tsushima Fans, especially those that donated. All because of a game, that inspires and leaves a impression beyond the game its self. That is what a thoughtful and dedicate developers are meant to do, not divide or monetize to death players
Ehh, I wouldn’t go that far...but there are some good people in this world. We need more people to give more than they take from the world. It doesn’t take much to give a damn about a good cause. It just takes someone to actually want to make this world a better place. I feel that the world will improve tenfold if we embrace this idea. Love your history and culture Japan. Much respect from an American.
It's really nice hearing some ACTUAL good news regarding gaming/games and good news snippets around the world. I feel more positive about this year thanks to this news, so thank you @YongYea for the great news :)
Literally nothing but positivity surrounding this game. From its development, to its release and reception, to its updates and now this. Hats off to you Sucker Punch.
I believe such gateways do symbolize passageways into the sacred realm from that of mortals, and are placed among nature and sacred locations. Any of these gates really should be preserved and repaired, and seeing this truly gives me a little hope in humanity. Definitely a win for us gamers here.
@@CitrusRev It should. Sony just needs to stop being greedy asses and just release their games on PC just like Microsoft. It didnt really hurt them putting horizon zero dawn on PC. I would love playing the Ratchet and Clank trilogy games on PC. just think of the mod support
@@MrScharleyXV Well Cyberpunk tried to be everything and work on every system possible, and suddenly also on next gen consoles. And thats what it has become, a bloody unfinished mess.
@@krivdik Yep. They should have focused on PC and then maybe port it to next gen... like in a year or two (maybe with multiplayer component or something).
Even without my biased opinion on the studio because I fucking loved the inFAMOUS games, I'm so proud of Sucker Punch. It's very heartwarming to know that they're being a shining example of a game studio.
I feel like this was by far the best game of 2020. Everything about it was beautiful. It's great to hear that people have stepped up like that. Heartwarming
Hard to believe how much a game can change the world like this . SuckerPunch really did an amazing job . It's gonna go down in the classics line of games . Definitely an awesome experience
Aside from multi-player matches, gamers are the best. Regardless of what nationality, when gamers come together for a common cause, we go above and beyond without question
Just the kind of thing we need to hear in 2021. Sadly I'm an Xbox player so never played the game but I watched full walkthroughs of it and awed in it's beauty
Imagine a follow up game to Tsushima that takes place in Kyoto, the birth place of Samurai and Ninja movies. Then fan can help revive the Samurai studios and tourist attraction.
All of this wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for the great team in Sucker Punch who made this incredible game. Remember when video games were only for kids and it is just made to give people mindless fun. Now it has changed and I'm proud to join the GoT fan base
How can anyone downvote wholesome content like this? Ugh... some people. Honestly though, this is such a nice piece. It's great that people can be intrigued by a game and then actually go out of their way to do some good and give something back.
Couldn't help but notice that the Torii gates represent the material and sacred coming together, and that in this case the material (Ghosts of Tsushima) saved the sacred (the Torii gates). Even the priest thought this was part of a divine plan. Gamers, feel proud today, we done good.
I am genuinely flabbergasted as to why someone would downvote this vid... do you people... ugh. you know what, I'm not even going to go there. this was a ray of sunshine after a year of crap. Well done to to all of those people involved, really warms the heart when people come together like this!
Bought GoT a week ago and haven’t been able to put it down. Got it on sale for the ps5 and honestly it looks amazing. It’s one of those games that deserves to be platinum trophied. The one regret is that I wished I would of paid retail price.
The TRUE game of the year. What does Laugh At Us 2 offer? Memes, death threats to Laura Bailey and a shit story that wouldn't seem out of place in Rooster Teeth's RWBY post Volume 4.
Thanks Yong for running with this great story. Thanks to all the players who heard about this and were able to contribute. I hope we can hear more positive stories like this.
It just shows that there are good people out there. I would of donated myself but that's to a certain virus that's shall not be named I'm unemployed. It gives me hope for humanity that we haven't all lost our way. the kind people who donated during a difficult time will now be immortalised with thier names carved into the shrine.
I guess the next sequel should be about the Mamluks when they stopped the mongol’s invasion then raise money to re-build the house of wisdom in Baghdad.
