Ghost of Yotei is NOT about Japan! Atsu's Lineage + Enemy. Backstory Theory

Hokkaido is so much bigger than Tsushima, Imagine the game would be THIS BIG I am so exited

The main plot/storyline will likely be Atsu hunting down a list of people, maybe for vengeance or a greater cause. The white list she carries around contains names or rather the alias of people who she is hunting. The guy in the trailer we saw getting killed by her had a sword hilt with snakes on it and where she smeared the blood over the one name it was saying 'snake'. That was kind of an indicator for that most likely, duels will be a thing once again anyway luckily. But how or why this plot would become her intention could be anything. Another interesting hint for that could also be the shot of blood in the snow (haha) which could also indicate the story could be similar to the one of lady snowblood which is a movie. And a story of - vengeance, where the daughter avenges her family. No matter what it will be I’m exited as sucker punch knows what they are doing, I can’t f'ing wait, GoT is my and for many others of us the all time favorite game.

i have a feeling its about ainu ppl as we play as atsu killing japanese samurai hence why she is considered ronin.. well just my guess thou

There was a Japanese made version of the great Western, Unforgiven. In that, it was about an old, rusty ex Samurai who fought for the Shogunate during the Meiji Restoration. Basically, he was on the losing side and fled to Hokkaido to have a quiet life. Ghost of Yotei has that vibe, imo.

I don't think that Atsu will be pushing back invading Toyotomi forces in the game, but hunting down Toyotomi loyalists that fled after the battle of Sekigahara to escape punishment at the hands of Tokugawa Ieyasu. Besides that minute detail, I agree 100% with everything else you said.

Very interesting analysis for sure I was still wondering why the narrator said that but couldn’t figure out why but now makes sense I can’t wait for the game tbh I’m just in it for the gameplay but the story could be interesting as well but we’ll just have to wait and see 🤔

AFTER the Ghost of Tsushima Jin and Yuna were made outlaws by Xogum decree. SO if they leave Tsushima they could not stay anywhere near the Xogum domain, SO they MUST go NORTH and faithful to the personal honor code of Jin Sakai (protect those could not protect themselves) they eventually joined the Honshu Nonbu clan . So, Atso could be a descendant of Jin or Yuna or BOTH if Sucker Punch decide to go SHIPPER and they marry each other and had children of their own in Honshu...

I don't think you're 100% correct, but I believe you definitely figured out some major points.

if they do this they need to go all in on it. no woke soft story not offend people bs. but make it very clear this is a story from the perspective of an acctually oppressed people. and they need to go hard with it.

Not a fan of playing as a female. Don't care about race or species; just prefer the character to be a male. Aside from that preference, most games get female main-characters wrong. One recent example of a female character done right is Ellie from the Last of Us. I love this example because, in the same series, they introduce a different playable female character that is the epitome of female characters done completely wrong. Naughty Dog basically Star-Wars-Episode-8'ed us with TLOU Part 2. There is a chance Sucker Punch gets Ghost of Yotei wrong, but I actually think they will get the main character right. They seem interested in paying respect to the history of Japan and I do not think it will be injected with Western nonsense. EDIT: Great job on the logo work there. This was a great video.

Since the game is set in Hokkaido in the 1600s, It's possible that the game will be centered around a conflict between the incoming Japanese colonists and the native Ainu. The MC could be someone who is caught in the center of all that for one reason or another. If Sucker Punch was trying to somewhat critique an aspect of samurai culture in GOT, with the issues that could arise because of samurai honor etc... Perhaps this game will be centered around a form of critique of another aspect of japanese culture. IDK, just trowing stuff out there. If that is the case then i hope they handle it in a mature manner like they did with GOT. Societal critique here in the west is usually very childish. Stuff like ''wHiTe pEoPle bAd, bLaCk pEoPle gOoD'' ''mEn bAd, wOmEn gOoD'' etc... Edit: Will admit that i wrote my comment before watching the video. Surprised by how many similar ideas we had 😆

I like the Konohe Rebellion theory the best, since Atsu isnt an Ainu name but a Japanese one (as far as i know), it could be she ran away to Hokkaido and converted to these AInu religions and decides to defend Hokkaido from the japanese who destroyed her homeland. Also, during 1603, we're 3 (out of 6) years into the construction of the Matsumae Castle, which would be the only edo style castle in all of Hokkaido (and would help consolidate power in Hokkaido). It could in the Yotei universe that the Matsumae begin invading more land in the Oshima Peninsula, which Mt. Yotei is EXTREMELY close to, so Atsu would use the Mt. Yotei as a base to raid the Matsumae clans invasion of the southern parts of Hokkaido and potentially sabotage the construction of the Castle. Also, great video!

Symbol in the middle of the logo is a perfect silhouette for a ginko leaf the most primitive arbor (tree) in the world, I don't think they changed it for copyright.

The trailer theme they used is quite fitting because it's like the wild west there. All the criminals and "unmentionables" go there to hide. I'm guessing the new ghost went there to hunt people from her hit list.

I loved GOT but I have high hopes this game fails since it obvious the company has its head in the wrong place by hiring an activist as its lead character that will alienate at least half of the player base. I'll leave my money in my wallet.
