Just saw you dropped Spirit of Vengeance, which lead me here to catch up to you. These movies are not good, but they're not specifically bad either. Its fun. And Sam Elliott is always a win.
Tasha, James Cameron said he had a nightmare about a flaming skull and that's what's inspired him to make the movie, the Terminator, i think he just had read an issue of Ghost Rider and fell asleep
What made the 2nd movie bad was the writing. It has an interesting story, but the writing was not good at all. The only good things about the movie is the over the top craziness from Nicolas Cage (who has a more realistic wig in that movie than in this movie) and the new design of Ghost Rider looks so much cooler. Since the 2nd movie is directed by Neveldine/Taylor it also has the speed up editing that they are known for (just check out the Crank movies ;)
Tasha, do you know who Geoff Peterson is? he was the sidekick on Late Night with Craig Fergurson on Cbs, he was a robot that he had built after seeing the movie, Ghost Rider
He can't just take it back when he gave him the power at the beginning he had to touch and hold which I assume is the same to reverse it but he wouldn't allow him to get close
agents of shield is a trash show and of course the cg looks better because it was made later. The ghostrider in that show is a clown because the writing is trash
In the comics it was Mephisto posing as the devil that made the deal with Johnny Blaze. Mephisto is short for Mephistopheles. In exchange for Johnny's soul he put the demon known as Zarathros (a fallen angel) a.k.a. The Spirit of Vengeance into Johnny's Body. So when he changes it's the Spirit of Vengeance taking over. 😮 Ghost Rider has the ability to transform vehicles into supernatural hellfire constructs which are virtually indestructible like himself and can defy natural laws...so yep he can ride up a skyscraper. He transformed the chain into hellfire as well. Then he has his Penance Stare. He can transform the shotgun into hellfire bullets...so he has a few powers. 😮 Carter Slade was the Western version of Ghost Rider who predated Johnny Blaze. 😂 Blackheart is a comic book Ghost Rider villain. In the comics he is the offspring of Mephisto. So that was comic book accurate. So Lionsgate Films bought the movie rights to the low level street vigilantes like Daredevil, Elektra, The Punisher and Ghost Rider. As such they didn't have the finances like a major studio like Universal or Sony.
I'm not going to lie...I thought that was just another name for the devil they were using 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you for clarifying and providing all the other information. That was extremely helpful! ❤️
@@tashatipton2141 there have been many versions of Ghost Rider over the years. Johnny Blaze is probably the most known because his solo book ran for close to 100 issues not counting his first appearance in Marvel Spotlight #5. Next up was teenager Danny Ketch who touched a magical Medallion he thought was a gas tank cover on his bike transforming him into the next Ghost Rider. Then there is Robbie Reyes the modern version. There is a futuristic version Ghost Rider 2099 and now a Cosmic Ghost Rider. So there has to be something there to come up with that many variants. I personally owned the whole run of the Johnny Blaze run and the Danny Ketch run of Ghost Rider. Even some of the spin-off books like Spirit of Vengeance. One of the reasons the sequel failed is they broke the comic book formula. They tried to go for a more supernatural horror film. The main enemy was literally the Devil and his literal son ala Rosemary's baby. That and they went with a cheaper effects company who changed the Ghost Rider look which looks terrible in my opinion. It just drives Cage's performance too far over the top. Did like the first film though.
@@tashatipton2141 It is and it was. The 'not the devil ' thing was a retcon from the mid 80s and it really sucked. It was supposed to be actual Satan in all of the devils 70s appearances, but Marvel chickened out and pretended it wasn't later. I'm glad the movie and TV stuff ignored it. And thanks for reacting to this! It does fit perfectly well with AOS and is fun apart from the out of his depth villain performance which lets it down. I only managed managed about ten minutes of the sequel though, due to an action sequence with 'shakey cam ' like the cameraman was using a damaged camera while having an epileptic fit inside a tumble dryer during an earthquake. I had to stop to avoid a migraine. It was a bad time in cinema.
I love this movie! It isn't great but it isn't bad.... Or maybe it's just the right kind of bad. I used to read the Ghost Rider comics, so I was just excited to se the character up on the big screen. Nicholas Cage is Nicholas Cage, so that's what you get with him as Johnny Blaze. I loved your reaction
PG-13 took the soul out of this movie. Had it been rated R everything would have gone up a notch. The villains would have been free to be really scary.
Its not a good excuse (25:35) but i know us men lie to you ladies sometimes because we don't want you to leave. Sam elliot disappointed a lot of us at the end 😢
I guess I shouldn't put the full blame on the actor for Blackheart's performance. He wasn't given the best lines so he was probably just working with what he had but still lol That broke my heart that he didn't get to battle with Johnny. All that build up for nothing 😭
To me Cage is the definitive Johnny Blaze. Both movies with him are cheesy, spooky and fun. That's what I expect from a dark superhero movie with Nicolas Cage starring in it. I don't expect anything less than goofy fun from Nicolas Cage in any movie with him as the main.
YES! I'm so glad Cage was in this!!! He made the movie what it was. Without him this could have been straight up trash. He at least was able to make it entertaining 🤣
This film is a lot of fun, mostly because of Nicolas Cage. He always plays himself, but it's always awesome. No, no one thinks Rebel Wilson is funny. Why she keeps getting work I've no idea. Blackheart was a comics villain. I would have cast someone else, but that actor had (and still has) a following. People seem to like him. He does what he needed to with the script he was given. Sam Elliott- what a lot of wasted potential. If they cast him, why didn't they use him more? I understand the final battle should be Johnny vs Blackheart, but after an amazing ride Sam Elliott just rides off into nothingness. Very odd choice, not what I would have done. Ghost Rider 2 is not so good. Low budget, shot in Eastern Europe where it's cheaper to make movies. Speaking of bad films, any chance you and those kids would react to a film called "Theodore Rex" from the 90s? It is really something. A fun reaction as usual. Keep up the good work.
Yes! He definitely saved this movie haha. I could seriously watch that scene of him transforming into the ghost rider for the first time over and over and never get sick of it 🤣
I'm sorry! I didn't mean to come off that way. I guess I was extremely hard on Blackheart though. That was only the truly terrible thing for me in this movie. I swear I was just trying to have fun with it 🤣 I did end up somewhat falling in love with this movie just because of how ridiculous it was haha
