You know what Ghost taught me? Popes wear such elaborate outfits because it gives them an aura of Holiness (Especially during the Dark Ages). It’s like peacocking while acting humble. You’re the chosen one, and everyone will know it by what you are wearing. It’s a way of projecting Authority to others and showing them that you are higher than them on the social hierarchy. So that’s why Papa Emeritus is so fucking amazing. He’s using the Catholic Church’s bag of tricks against them while using them to make his own point. Ghost’s aesthetics are a big part of their success. The music is amazing on its own, but that look is theirs and theirs only.

I remember watching this video a few months after the upload, thinking 'One day they will play an audience this big, but who came especially for Ghost...' And now, five years later.. They will play audiences this big! Insane how fast time went, but even more insane how fast Ghost grew and still is growing. Rock on, TF!
Ghost is just perfect, amazing music, amazing stage performance and presence, amazing lore/story, and amazing people. What else could you ask for? Edit: Amazing fan base, the perfect fan base, because it's SUPPOSED to be a cult so we aren't creepy for being the way we are toward them unlike other bands, lol.
Papa II was a grumpy old man, maybe in his late 50’s or early 60’s. That’s why he takes himself so seriously on stage. Papa III was younger, so his character reflects that. He’s more youthful and looks to be in his 30’s. Papa I may not have had the best costume, but he was the most evil one of them all.
I just saw them Friday. Absolutely incredible. I hope this band gets big enough to play places like Madison Square and MGM. With a bigger budget, stage, and venue these guys would put on one fucking hell of a show.
indeed. but one could only be anonymous for so long these days. i'll always prefer the look and sound of the first album, but i'm also glad they blew up. they deserved as much.
So Swedish television gets this, but we in North America get the scrounge that is Miley Cyrus shaking her non existent rear end at award shows? God help us, or Satan help us, or Papa. LOL

Maybe it was the wrong crowd, but this is one of the biggest events for musicians in Sweden. So for that matter, it was the right crowd. A couple of thousands in the "arena" and probably a 1-2 million TV viewers. So totally the right crowd, the swedish people needs to see what is going on, the first swedish band to ever play Rock in Rio, and on the biggest stage between 2 super bands. So hail Ghost!
God, I can’t believe we used to have this and now we have the crap with Cardinal Copia. Oh sorry, I mean Papa IV. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy for their success. But man was this so much better. The creepy ominous vibe. Not some bobble head riding a unicycle on stage and changing outfits like 8 times. All while sounding more and more squeaky every show.
I'm catholic and I love this, it's not about religion, it's about music, I don't understand why some people say it's offensive, it's just music so let's enjoy, that's my point of view ^^
Mel Sensei I'm Catholic. I go to mass every week. I love this band.They're my 3rd favorite band and one of the freshest sounds to come out since 1995. I can't wait to see them in May.
There's nothing we can do about them, there are a lot of people that find this offensive, it doesn't matter, we can enjoy this kind of music without paying attention to them, I'm catholic too, I go to mass and all but I love Ghost :D
Kalle, just go to the official Ghost site and read on information. It doesn't appear on the Nameless Ghouls site but in the old one, as in the first Ghost site: "Ghost is the name of a devil worshipping ministry, that in order to spread its unholy gospels and, furthermore, trick mankind into believing the end is ultimately a good thing, have decided to use the ever so popular rock music medium as a way to achieve their ends..." So I guess that they're acomplishing their task, right crowd indeed

its still tobias forge, Papa Emeritus I is Papa Emeritus II, before they showed Emeritus II for the first time they playes Genesis, an instrumental.. so he changed backstage and another guy put on the Emeritus I outfit. You can clearly hear its the same guy.
