An animated past vs present look at the lost Railway line that ran between South Lynn and Spalding! #kingslynn #spalding #norfolk #railway #lincolnshire
The Lynn & Sutton Bridge Railway was authorised on 6 August 1861, to build a line between those points. It was opened between King's Lynn and Sutton Bridge in November 1864; passenger trains began on 1 March 1866. The first station after King's Lynn was West Lynn, which was located at the western end of the bridge over the Great Ouse; that station was closed on 1 July 1886. The station at South Lynn was opened on 1 January 1886 along with other improvements in the area.

I remember the goods yard at Spalding in the 1970s and 1980s. I think a lot of it is now turned over to housing. Another superb video. Many thanks, Nick.

Hello James. I have commented before 🙂. Your vieos are fantastic! I tend to watch each twice....to look at locations on Google Maps, or to watch, and enjoy the journey and the music. It all depends on my mood at the time which I choose 😆. In our rapidly changing World, I find it comforting that much of our beautiful landscape seems relatively the same (bar Cities of course - to be expected). Nearly 150 years......places are so recognisable. Thank God. Thank you for your hard work and time in making these.

Travelled on this line for the first time easter 1956 aged 7 on my way to Coventry via Rugby. The guard looking after me. Honest trustworthy days.

An incredible piece of work, interesting, informative and anger-inducing at the balance-book mentality that deprived future generations of the ability to move around without the burden of having to own a car. Really impressive!
