You nailed it. The Feig movie was never about the female cast. It was about being a reboot. Nobody wanted a reboot. We wanted a legit third movie that continued from the original two.

I'm female and hate ghostbusters 2016 with a passion. It's not funny, forced story, lacks any passion and the characters just dont seem right. If you watch the original its just far superior in almost every way. Most of all, it had a good story, good characterisation, good pacing and (for the time) good effects.

You got to respect James Rolfe. He put out that video about not reviewing or seeing the movie because it wasnt what he wanted to see from a Ghostbusters movie and that was it. It didnt matter that the media insulted him, he just ignored it and didnt feed into the drama. He was 10 times the person they were.

Well... I hate to break it to Paul Feig and the Ghostbusters (2016) cast, but not every female fan of the Ghostbusters franchise liked their movie. I was completely turned off by the trailer (none of the later ones sold me on the movie), the terrible dubstep theme song but what really made me want to stay away from it; was their attacks on the fans. Every time they said that those who pushed back against the 2016 movie were just a bunch of white manchildren, all I could think was: "I'm not white... I'm not a man... and I have 0 interest in your movie!" Ghostbusters 3 has been in development hell for a very long time and to hear that they are finally going through with it warms my heart. It's a shame that those involved with the 2016 version are throwing a fit and once again going with the "misogyny" complaint. Some food for thought: for them to completely ignore that Ghostbusters has female fans that did not like nor was interested in the 2016 version feels more misogynistic than anything else. The insults from those male fans who did shout that Ghostbusters couldn't be women was nothing in comparison to being completely ignored because it didn't fit with their slams of the fans.

It's not hard to figure out.. "Give the people what they want." Respect the audience and drop the politics.

I'm female and i hated the reboot. It was awful and not a good representation of any of those actresses talent anyway. The originals were much better. Does that mean someday Supernatural will be labelled bad because it was about two male leads? Can't a writer do what they want without twitter caring?

If they're so upset about the cancellation, where were they when it came time to watch it in the cinema?

Can we not just have a cup of tea and wait for it to blow over? We aren’t being sexist because we are over protective of our childhood memories. We sang the song, blasted ghosts in our childhood homes and begged our parents for the toys. It was a massive part of 80s kids childhoods and we are tired of the endless reboots of our beloved 80s/90s classics.

I don't understand why Leslie Jones thinks her Ghostbusters was the first Ghostbusters ever made. The female Ghostbusters is a stand alone film set in there own universe. It absolutely has nothing to do with the original Ghostbusters. Ghostbusters 3 is a direct sequel to part 1 and part 2. She has it twisted

A lot of people tend to not mention the score. It's not only lit and shot like a horror but scored like a horror with whimsical passages running throughout. Listen to the opening music during the first library scene, that music is eerie and creepy and perfectly sets the tone. One other thing I see mentioned that I think people get wrong is that there are no scenes where the OGB create and test the equipment. Well, there is one shot, when the boys are eating the "last of the petty cash" Egon is working on a positron glider so there you go, that's all the time they felt necessary to waste on that, let's just get to the story!!

Regardless of what happens, Ghostbusters: The Video Game released back in 2009 is THE original Ghostbutser 3. End of story.

This franchise, more than most others, was a perfect setting to do a "soft reboot". You could have another cast opening up a new branch in another city and still have the original Ghostbusters in the film checking in on the shop. You can have Winston and Ray inspecting the new station and having major roles in the film. Hell, you can even let Bill Murray phone in his performance. I mean LITERALLY a scene where he's on the phone talking crap to the new employees while he holds down the fort in the original Ghostbusters station. And even with the new series going, you can always have the old schoolers drop by whenever they want, because that completely makes sense.

When your primary objective was to make a movie with all female leads and not about making the best movie then you end up with a crap Ghostbusters movie

Very happy I found your channel. Many RU-vidrs had been giving you a shout out and I can see why. Keep it up! I am a fan of the original Ghostbusters. I am a female and I disliked the remake from 2016. Woah, do those fans even exist?! Obviously they do. The original movie was one of my favourites as a child (having a poster of them hanging in my room and listening to the tape of the soundtrack all the time) and I actually am probably one of the few fans of the original that liked the '89 sequel. All this to say it saddens me how this has become a culture/political war. We have these stories and 'entertainment' to escape from the craziness that is our current society (it is called escapism), but sadly it has now seeped into just about everything. When I finally saw GB 2016 on Netflix...I refused to see it in the theatre. I found the story to be awful, the characters over the top, and simply Not a funny movie. To me that was not comedy (granted I hated Bridesmaids so that should have been the first clue) and to have turned one of my most beloved childhood movies into that made me mad and those who asked me what I thought would have gotten an earful. I hope that GB 2020 will be made. I hope that Stantz, Zedmore, and especially Venkman will return for one last hurrah with Dana and Janine, and Louis to properly hand over the proton packs to the next set of male And female Ghostbusters bringing back the humour and good story telling from the original! My fingers and toes are crossed.

I really hope that they make Ghostbusters 3. As true fan of the 1984's GhostBusters, I have been waiting for this for a long time to see original characters back in action and to see whether or not, baby Oscar grew up and became a Ghostbusters like Dr. Peter Venkman, who probably became his stepfather. Therefore, Reitman and Dan Aykroyd should forget the haters and go ahead and make the movie.

I want to support Paul Feig. After my family white-flighted out of Detroit, we moved to Mt. Clemens(Feig's hometown). My family shopped at his dad's store. I want to support a local guy, and I really enjoyed Bridesmaids. Unfortunately, I can't support his butchering of Ghostbusters. It was terrible. I'm a woman, and I had secondhand embarrassment while watching it. It's borderline criminal the way Hollywood is trying to redo great 1980s classics that were never broken to begin with. The original Ghostbusters came out just before I turned 1(I do have very early memories of watching it on VHS), but I have fond memories of the cartoon and my late mother taking me to see Ghostbusters II. It all came together with lots of other classic movies, TV shows, cartoons, toys, and music to make the 1980s easily the best time to be alive. Harold Ramis was probably spinning in his grave when Feig's bastardization was being shot.

Ghostbusters Extreme is diversity done right. A disabled, a punk girl, a black man, and Eduardo. For today's standard, it ticks of a lot of social justice quotas and is a huge redflag for many. Despite that, the cartoon is oddly natural, the chemistry between the members is great. Why they didn't turn this into a movie or a live action series is beyond me...

Paul Feig is just somebody with major mommy issues. He reminds me of Norman Bates...but not as funny.

i disagree, this isn't controversial at all because the defenders of the 2016 film didn't show up to watch it in theaters. They can call the original overrated all day, the fact is, it made money.

Thank you for making this video. I'm so happy that a video could explain what I tried to stay away from. When I first saw Ghostbusters, the original one, I was amazed. I love it so much and it holds dear to my heart. So when the remake was announced, I was upset. My mom loved it, then again, she is the pro-feminist in my house. I try to explain to her that it really isn't that good, but women YAY! But when I talked about it with people, you either saw it, or you didn't see it. Seeing it meant you were disrespecting the original and everything it worked for. If you didn't see it, you hated women and you were a sexist pig. It isn't really that funny and it did NOT need to exist. I'm glad that Ghostbusters 3 will ignore the reboot because it means that I can enjoy something that I want to enjoy. Ghostbusters. The original so near and dear to my heart.

Make Ghostbusters Great Again!

I did give the remake a fair shake. Unfortunately it was just really bad.

Amy Pascal had a feminist agenda. This isn't my opinion, its in the leaked emails where she says she wants to push female lead, female driven movies in roles that would normally go to men. its still so crazy to see how sad every aspect of the 2016 film is including the jumpsuits, proton packs, "Ecto 1", etc.

The only way a legitimate Ghostbusters 3 / 4th would do well is if… 1. All or most of the original actors reprised their role. 2. If bringing in “new talent” is absolutely necessary, cast people everybody knows & loves or brand new faces never before seen to develop an appreciation for those new faces. 3. If new faces are necessary make sure the movie really puts the new faces thru the ringer, this would cement a bond with the audiences that would create the appreciation needed to carry the franchise forward. (Think Winston) 4. Pay proper homage to Egon. Remember that we-sort-of got the 3rd movie we wanted within the contents of the Ghostbusters video game, so make sure the narrative continues from there.

The "Remake" was toxic the only cure for the poison is to bring back our beloved heroes Ghostbusters 3. Don't kill my lifelong love give our heroes the respect they deserve. GS3

Paul Feig and Amy Pascal also tried shutting Ivan Reitman out of the project completely, which did happen. That's a fool's move, in my opinion. I think that the 2020 Ghostbusters 3 movie is Ivan Reitman's way of rubbing it in their face. He's basically saying, "You didn't want my help with the 2016 Ghostbusters...so, here, have a real Ghostbusters movie." Honestly, if I were taking over a movie that had this much nostalgia attached to it and its fanbase, then I would have wanted Ivan Reitman, the original cast, and the propmakers from the original 1984 movie to create a sense of continuity. It could have either been as consultants, supervisory roles, you name it...but they would have been there if there was any way possible. That way, I would know that this movie would have the spirit of the original and the talent that made the first Ghostbusters so great. Bill Murray; Let's not forget that insane man Murray is one of the reasons why we never got a reunion of the original Ghostbusters cast. He kept saying that there was never a great script written, but true fans know that Bill Murray hates Ghostbusters. It catapulted him into being a household name and opened doors all over Hollywood, but he didn't want to do comedy after Ghostbusters. He took a hiatus from the movie business for four years. I think he didn't want to feel that his career hinged on Ghostbusters; therefore, he kept ripping up scripts to keep from having to return to the role. It was only because Sony threatened litigation that he even appeared in the 2016 cameo (look at the interviews before its release and see just how much he acts like he wants to be there). Bill Murray's also the one who suggested an all-female cast, even pointing out some of the actresses that played in the 2016 Ghostbusters. Soooooo...you can also blame some of this on Bill Murray for what happened to the Ghostbusters franchise. I certainly do. Murray, Feig, and Pascal are some of the root causes for this movie being the steaming pile of crap it is. On top of that pile of shit is Melissa McCarthy (Why the hell is she even in Hollywood? All I've ever seen her do is scream at the top of her lungs while other actors supported her in the scene. Is it just because they miss Rosie O'Donald and Roseanne Barr...so they just needed her to fill in the token Fat Bitch Starlette slot?) Everybody got on Leslie Jones about how she portrayed Patty. If anyone knows that Eddie Murphy was originally supposed to play Winston Zeddemore, then you can see where she's coming from in the 2016 Ghostbusters. Look at how Eddie Murphy would have played the role. He would not have been as laid back and dry as Ernie Hudson; he would have played it over the top like he does in many of his other roles. Big-eyed looks, loud mouthed, stereotypical Black Man--please understand that I'm not a racist, it's just how he's typically scripted and how he is understood to play roles (why they cast Eddie Murphy in the first place; they know what they're going to get). I love how Ernie Hudson played Zeddemore; the character came off more as an Average Joe looking for a paycheck and willing to spout the company line if it paid the bills. I think Eddie Murphy would have been a more exaggerated character that would have harmed the balance of the ensemble. For 2016's Ghostbusters, Sony Studios has said that the break-even point would be at $300 million. The Worldwide Box Office: ‎$229.1 million. Feig and Amy Pascal created a hefty net production budget of $144 million plus a big marketing campaign budget of at least $100 million more. This was all based on a poorly written, almost ad-libbed, Saturday Night Live styled script. Paul Feig and the actresses even admitted that they just riffed off each other and ad-libbed through the scenes. They did not want to consult the original actors but instead strong-armed them into appearing in cameos or face a lawsuit. Not only that, they didn't do any homework on the franchise that has--believe it or not--a huge fanbase. The original 1984 Ghostbusters movie was a pop-culture phenomenon. It spawned a sequel, two animated series, novels, video games, toys, props, reference guides...you name it. The Ghostbusters theme song was on #1 on Billboard's Top 100 for 3 weeks before dropping down on the list for an additional 18 weeks (21 weeks total). I read an article where some dumbass gave the opinion about why the 2016 Ghostbusters did not do well. They said that in the 2000s, the 1984 Ghostbusters slapstick comedy did not age well. Using the same style of writing harmed Paul Feig's 2016 Ghostbusters...WTF? Um...I'm a little speechless. 1984's Ghostbusters honestly had more dry comedy from the conflict between the mundane and the fantastic than it did juvenile humor (which was added very sparingly). If you look at the scene where the Ghostbusters are running out of the New York Library, they did add a little Three Stooges physical comedy in their styles of running. For the most part, the 1984 comedy was played straight. The 1989 Ghostbusters 2 was aimed more towards a younger audience due to the success of The Real Ghostbusters cartoon series; the studio didn't want to run off their new Ghostbuster fans and decided to play the humor more childishly. The people working on Ghostbusters 2 were not happy with the decision, but they went ahead and made it the way the studio said to do. That's why it didn't age as well as the original. I truly hope that whoever's spearheading the 2020 Ghostbusters 3 movie will do their research, listen to their fanbase, and not call their prospective customers bearded, no-neck manbabies that live in their parents' basement. They also need to understand that there were a lot of females that hate the crap out of the 2016 movie, despite Sony's best attempts at silencing them (my girlfriend said that she would rather watch a week-long Veggie Tales marathon, and she can't stand that show). My advice to the studio: Do your research on the original movie and expanded lore. Regard Ghostbusters 1984 as your primary source and immediately discard anything that contradicts it. Make an in-house continuity bible. (It worked very well for the Batman Animated Series). Watch Toy Story 1 and 2 to see comedy that appeals to all ages (adult and child comedy balanced). If you're still confused, just keep picking up Pixar movies until it clicks. Make a good Ghostbusters movie. Don't ridicule your fans. Mind your humor (Ghostbusters should be normal humor clashing with outlandish situations).

As Milo so succinctly stated, GHOSTBUSTERS 2016 was a movie conceived entirely out of spite. It's the most blatantly misandrist thing I've seen since ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK. In that show every single male character is a monster or a moron, while the women are all paragons of virtue and, most often, the innocent victims of evil men.

The original was.... well, original. Reboots, prequels, spin-offs, etc.. rarely hold up, to the originals. It's not politically incorrect to dislike a sh*t movie. People are too damn sensitive.

I definitely had no issue with the female led Ghostbusters but it wasn't good , I tried and was not amused. I always wanted a sequel not a reboot.

A german theme park added a ghostbusters ride in early 2017, a little over half a year after the Feig movie opened in germany. There was and is nothing in the theming or merchandise of the ride that has anything to do with the Feig movie, it's all from the originals. So when Leslie Jones says that she does not count - she is right. She did not even count for a theme park ride that was opened less than a year after her movie hit the big screen.

I don't care what they think, there Ghostbusters didn't even compared to the original.

Wokebuster's is the gift that keeps on giving. watching Paul feig and Leslie Jones continue their salty tears after their terrible movie destroyed (what little) reputation they had and cost Sony over hundred million dollars. Love it.

The entire push of "women can be ghostbusters too" always seemed like a fruitless argument simply because weve had female ghostbusters in about every medium since the original films happened. So much of this reboot was just bungled to try and spark press to get butts in seats and it failed

Wonder Women is more of empowering film than Ghostbusters 2016 will ever be. Plus it was a good film and knew what it was doing.

Not all remakes suck. Successful remakes; Dawn of the Dead War of the Worlds The Fly The Thing In my opinion these are undeniably successful remakes, better than the original. The advancement of effects and cinematography played a huge part in it, but they are solid, good films in every aspect.

Lets simplify. You cannot dictate what foods I like. Saying I should like Brussel Sprouts wont make me like them. You cannot legislate what movies I like. Saying I should like a movie because it has a female cast, wont make me like it. I don't have to like the Black Panther movie, I don't have to like any superhero movie and I don't usually. I am 60 this year, I hate onions, that has never changed. I find them slimy and don't like the sulfuric flavor of most of them. I also don't like most mushrooms. Social pressure will not change that, my pallet does not respond to it. You can control actions, controlling preferences is much harder and convincing someone that something is funny when it isn't is really hard. Stand up comedy 101 is that if you have to explain the joke, it probably isn't funny.

I had the toys,I bought the game's and so on. Dan Aykroyd busted his tail to get a new Ghostbusters on the big screen (that's a good story itself)then like you said it got high jacked. They failed as soon as they made Ghostbusters something it was not. The overall meaning is that *anyone* can be a Ghostbuster. Those who are mad about about 3 doesn't getcthe franchise anyways. They quickly forget they where guests to this party. They had their chance to move GB in a different direction and it failed. Movies that flop,don't get sequel's. What makes me mad is how disrespectful they are.The old cast welcomed them in with open arms...they even appeared in their movie. Dan Aykroyd busted his but off for over ten years to get another Ghostbusters back on the screen. All they did is show up at work to make a movie. Now they feel they are owed something? They are not winning any war for Social injustice (Wonder Woman did well because the movie was a good movie,GB 2016 didn't do well mostly because it just sucked) all they are doing is making themself's look like ass's. They pull off a good Ghostbusters they will make a crap load of money. (just off merchandise) Sony's Playstation 5 is on the horizon and if this is a blockbuster having that exclusive Ghostbusters game would be huge for them. Considering the last game they did was received very well. (some say it is only because of the games success the movie was made in the first place) I wrote way more then attended (I love Ghostbusters, I can't help it) Ghostbusters is now in good hands. These guy's understand more then anyone what made GB special. They understand the fans,and the incredibly high expectations we are going to place on this film. They mess this up. They will get a backlash that will be far worse then the last movie cast had! There is to date 2 official Ghostbusters movies 1 & 2. The 2016 parody is not canon so therefore it doesn’t count as a film. We are finally getting part 3 so that film will be canon.

Okay, when do we get the re-makes with Wonder Man, Xander warrior prince, Lenny Croft Tomb Raider and even Bernard the Vampire Slayer? When? We demand equal rights as men to be able to do crappy re-makes as well!!!!!

Great Job. Second. I don't know a damn thing about the "Financials" behind this movie, rather it will sink or swim, or rather it will be "Worth" doing from Sony's point of view. I can however say something as a fan. Nobody, Hates Trump and what he and his supporters represent,,,,,,, ANYMORE than I do. At the same time, I hated this movie from the moment it was announced, right on through to release, this NOT ghostbusters remake. I never went to see the movie, I will never watch the movie. As a fan, I personally would go see an HONEST, attempt at Ghostbusters 3. I believe, that most FANS of the Ghostbusters universe would go see an HONEST attempt at Ghostbusters 3. And exactly as you stated, this was never about "Girls". I couldn't care less what the cast makeup is to be perfectly honest. I don't care if the main characters are all girls, all guys or all porgs. I just want to see a GOOD MOVIE, WITH A ACTUAL FUCKING STORY!!!!!!!!!!! And THAT is what this has always been about for the vast majority of fans. And yes, it's exactly the same thing that's going on with Star Wars, Star Trek and god knows how many other franchises. So if the Sony is paying attention, you have at least one vote here for moving ahead. My criteria as a fan is FIRST, do you have a GOOD STORY. My second criteria is, how well the movie is acted, directed and shot. Beyond that, My last criteria, and this is one that I had to add that I would never normally even think to include, is that YOU KEEP POLITICS THE FUCK OUT OF MY ENTERTAINMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't go to to movies to engage in ridiculous political arguments. I go to movies to escape my shit fucking life where currently, I am drowning in stupid ridiculous political arguments. And I WILL NOT spend money to see any movie that forces that upon me.

They need to do damage control... Ghostbusters 2016 sucked big time. It ruined the entire franchise.

Midnight’s Edge is an awesome channel! And boy, I’m just happy to have the return of the original continuity and styling for a change. This shows how some franchises could have benefitted better if they continued the continuity, but expanded on the concept without rebooting everything on a countless measure. The Star Wars Expanded Universe is a great example of that, and enjoyed years of countless ideologies games, comics, novels, and television shows that even if they were bad, good, or short, they added something new to Star Wars without destroying the values of the stories that started it all (at least before Disney cut it to shreds). As for Ghostbusters 3, I definitely want it. Knowing it’s announced just tells me that there’s someone at Sony who’s sensible and wants the brand to be saved from being wiped out. I adored the first two movies, and especially the cartoons, and felt that even if the remake was good, I still would rather have wanted a continuation of what came before. Maybe if the remake was a spin-off instead, the ire wouldn’t be as destructive to Ghostbusters as it has now. At lease MIB: International gets that right. Anyway, keep up the amazing work, guys!

Hi Andre.. the reason the media and the SJW/NPC's are going on a frenzy is they are very much afraid of the potential success this new film is going to have.. many fans have been hurt by this reboot but if they know the next film is a continuation of the original timeline they will flock to it like we all did when the Ghostbusters game was made and released.. keep up the great work Andre i love your editorials..

Now that Afterlife is a real continuation of the series, I will be watching it in the theater.

Ghostbusters 3: Never Send a Woman to do a Man's Job.

There’s a right way and a wrong way to inject politics into your films/shows. The original Ghostbusters never said the EPA was a bad thing, but it did say some people in government with a little bit of power are huge assholes. Star Trek was great when it’s message was hidden behind great stories and great characters. Sisko’s race and Janeway’s gender were not front and center. The importance of those aspects of their characters was woven into the narrative. Unlike Discovery which was wanking itself off in the media for a year before its premiere with how diverse and progressive it is only to be the most dark, bleak and conservative in tone series in the franchise. I like that Leslie Jones, one of the only bright spots in the 2016 abomination, got so mad about this new film. I especially like her comment: “It’s like Sony just saying fuck us.” Yeah Leslie. Fuck all of you. Your movie sucked. Walk it off and say yes to a better project.

If Dan Akroyd is as passionate as he is rumored to be I doubt he would let this new movie die on the doorstep. Forget the 2016 cast and Paul "I don't give a" Fieg they don't represent public opinion. For the fans GB3 must be made and it must be worthy of success. That way studios can know just what it takes to make and retain fans.
