Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed (PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S/One) is an asymmetrical multiplayer game where bustin' makes you feel good (?) Let's talk about it. Subscribe for more: ru-vid.com?su... #ghostbusters
Honestly, they should do that, or they could even go real weird with the technological uses of ectoplasm and head in the direction of light looter-shooter elements.
If this game had a strong single player component while also including the current multiplayer component I'd be really keen on it. The Ghostbusters universe has heaps of potential. But only multiplayer drags it down for me.
you can play against bots the reason i wont get this though its a copy of midnight ghost hunt and the people who made that awful predator game made this.. That game got very little updatese and very little people play it now.
I love the way the ghost designs look very obviously inspired by the old TRG cartoon from the '80's. 😄 It's always fun to see that series remembered in one way or another.
@@gameranxTV sooo still good to go capture a 👻🚫 game in ma neighborhood and if only ma ps4 wifi didn't suck and how much to get a ps5 and ps5 any better.
The Ray Parker Jr. theme song of Ghostbusters was indeed featured in the Remastered video game, albeit briefly, at the beginning. Minus the grainy cutscenes, the actual game holds-up pretty darn well on the 5. Personally, the more Ghostbusters through a video game medium, the better I reckon. I miss the Genesis and arcade versions. Shoutout to illfonic for keeping it OG. I wonder if there was a VR game already.
There actually is a VR game on the way, but from the short trailer there is it doesn't really look that great. Plus it looks to be Quest/ PSVR 2 exclusive.
@@barple367 The trailer is all pre-rendered footage and shows no actual gameplay, unfortunately. However, it is not a going to be a versus game; but rather, a story driven 4player co-op. - But, if it's done well, bustin ghosts in VR will be fun.
@@Olkv3D Wish they didn't resort to a pre-rendered cutscene, makes the game look incredibly bland. at least a demo level of they currently have ready? dunno. Wasn't a huge fan of what I was seeing, certainly not a fan of it being exclusive to quest and PS
I would love to see a single player co op mode where you first start the ghost busting Business and you have to upgrade the fir station, car, equipment, and then you can hire workers. It be cool to actually drive the car out of the fire station to the location but also letting people use quick travel at a small cost
Earnie Hudson is the man! He was barely a second thought in the films, but he is always first in line to reprise his role! Gotta admire actors who aren't above that. I mean, we all love Bill Murray, but lets face it, the dude is a pain in the ass to work with and only does what he wants anymore
I've played this game myself and I have a bit of a confirmation that this game takes place after Afterlife if you speak to Ray in his occult store by holding square or x depending on which version you play he mentions Egon's granddaughter Phoebe who was one of the main protagonists in Afterlife now that is really cool so this game is most likely canon to the movies which is awesome.
@@deadschooled Probably not worse than the "Ghostbusters gals remake", but yeah, I don't really understand why people liked Afterlife so much ... it's pretty derivative and for the most part boring, too long, etc.
Asymmetrical is in the description. It was probably just an accident that didn't get caught during production. The fact that it still hasn't been addressed, shows how much they care about the content they create. There are other creators that do a better job and actually care. Go watch them.
Wow surprised Jake isn’t reviewing this as I thought he was a huge ghostbusters fan. Also the creators said there will be more fun stuff coming soon! They plan on working on this game for a while.
@@comicbookbacon8704 nah the lawsuit had nothing to do with the game but they used it to escape having to make more content. It was a good game and my buddies enjoyed it but man like its just terrible.
@@adigames They legally couldn't release anymore content for the game, they had to can it. Jason X was still late in development stages and was on his way to getting released until the lawsuit happened. Dunno if you're fully caught up on it but Illfonic lost the rights to work on the IP.
@@barple367 what I was aware of is that Miller stated that the lawsuit has 0 interest for the game and its development but its more towards the films, he said they can make content for the game and do what they want with it but his big lawsuit was rights for the films.
Everytime another game like this comes out I try to remind people how almost EVERYONE slept on EVOLVE being ahead of it's time. Truly an unprecedented level of quality and variety with the different hunters, monsters and their abilities. We all need to understand how quick videos and marketing labels can obscure true art that needs and deserves our attention. I didn't help EVOLVE when it needed me but one day I shall help to rise that glorious game from the ashes and show everyone what the world almost missed
I like the setting of the game, I love the Ghostbusters but I'm not into 4v1 multiplayer games. I wish the 4v1 was just a mode of a more substantial game that also included coop PvE and a campaign as well as more PvP modes like some ghosts vs ghosts 4v4 or 6v6 mayhem or something similar. I think these games are not for everyone and will get boring pretty fast for having only one game mode with a short learning curve and nothing else for variety. Predator was free on PS4 but I only played five games and that was it.
Sounds like a bit of a balance issue but overall solid base. It would be really awesome if they built off this to make a campaign, and a boy can dream of it being a co-op one lol
I think you absolutely nailed how I feel about this game. I really like the mechanics, but it feels like a beta for something bigger (or at least I hope). Would love to see some more game modes, maps, etc.
Thanks for changing the Thumbnail. We acknowledge and appreciate you guys seeing how that could be misconstrued and changing it before people got unruly.
I agree with your points, but honestly I love the underpowered Ghostbusters feel. At the same time, with the right build and knowledge of how the ghost operates, you can feel pretty OP. And most of the nit-picking doesn't bother me! That being said I have the mindset of future dlc in the making; if "this is it," then I'll be disappointed All in all, this is a great game! I am looking forward to killer klowns next year 👊🏼
I absolutely am enjoying this game, And I agree I think there should be More story element with Co-Op. I haven't come across any bugs and I'm playing on xbox series S.
The only content games like these add are maps and characters. It's usually one mode and that's it. I'm sure that'll happen here, considering Predator and Friday the 13th are behind them
The problem with building games that are 'built to last" is that there's not enough players to sustain them. There are already way too many games that are built to last aka "live service" games that has an iron grip on players' psyche, time and wallet that you can't possible expect to have more free players to sustain more of these games.
Honestly what I’m really looking forward to is Texas chainsaw massacre because Friday the 13th was the perfect game in this genre for me the amount of fun I had that summer was unreal and unfortunately everything that happened with the rights so they couldn’t add anything to the game and it ended up dying that all being said I’m really excited for their gun medias next title
@@MOH717able ya when it came out it was great. I tried to play a match yesterday and jason was teamed up a councilor. Just fucking about not doing anything. The games so past dead now. This game will have a similar fate...probably sooner than later. At least the progression in friday the 13th lasted more than 8 days. I got the platinum trophy, have everything unlocked and have almost zero reason to keep playing it lol
I must say Gameranx is my FAVORITE RU-vid channel when it comes to video game reviews and the part that I enjoy the most is you’re not necessarily giving the game a rating you’re just giving us things to think about and that might be important to the casual or hardcore player and I appreciate that, thank you.
Currently on a dev team working on a game similar to this. Very interested in hearing the responses so we can try and learn from Illfonic. The big difference is we have 4 ghosts and 1 human and the ghosts are the ones that do a ritual
It's the best Ghostbuster game i have played you feel like a Ghostbuster so I hope they keep adding to the game. Loads from the films and real world supposed haunted locations they could add. id like to walk around a old British castle or something with my proton pack lol
Is there a private match option? My friends and I play Dead by Daylight but only in closed match private lobbies. If this game has private match option I'm sure I can get them on board.
Anyone else having audio issues on online bought version on Ps4? Not physical copy but my virtual copy is trash, the audio cuts in and out on the begining and the music cuts in and out no matter what I do, any suggestions?
Same. It's bugged to hell. All the cut scenes are sound bugged too. It's annoying for sure. And my ghost progression is bugged lol when i finish a session ill be level 41 . Come back and im level 36 or something. 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨
I appreciate the honesty, as always....I was on the fence about this, because Asymmetricals get boring really fast for me......but knowing how solid this game is (and even though it's really short), I think, while it's limited, it sounds worth the $40, as if there's enough of a player base, I would believe, the developers would make a ton more content for the game
Whenever I see games like this, I think of Evolve and how that game promised to redefine the genre with its asymmetrical 4 hunters vs 1 monster. The irony is that game was so bad that it died out super fast, but ever since then we keep getting these asymmetrical games like Dead by Daylight.
this game is not worth 40 bucks lol, these should be budget games cause of the lack of content and you know they are gonna put out a season pass in the next month as well offering things that should of been in the final game already
These type of games aren’t worth $40. Most of them have little to no content. IMO a $20 price line is more fair for its value. Or free with monetization (skins, battlepass, etc or whatever they decide)
The price point to content ratio is the only thing keeping me out. I enjoyed Predator: Hunting Grounds and liked that they still updated it and released DLC characters. But I wanted more maps and objectives to play. If I recall, they added a TDM like mode and some stuff for that. And then way way late after everybody quit playing they added night variations to the maps.
One thing I’m starting to notice in new asymmetrical games that’s pretty unfortunate but the survivor role, or the ghostbusters in this instance seem to just be there for the more fun killer/ghost to just terrorize. I know dbd has a mixed bag of reviews but I still feel like that game does the survivor role the best
Because DbD was (or still is) for 90% of its life time heavily survivor sided, to the point where you only needed to be "decent" to heavily outperform the killer's role. Played it since release (PC). Have no idea how it is going right now, as I haven't played it for a few months, like 4. That's not a good thing either. Balancing an assym game is quite a feat. Probably impossible. One of the sides will (usually heavily) demolish the other one depending on the version.
If this comes to Steam, it´s gonna be an instant hit. Also, the lack of game modes are not always a bad thing. Battlefront 2 had a shit ton of game modes when it launched and I never played more than a couple of them, because the other ones were always emty. Meanwhile, League of Legends tried ADDING more game modes like Dominion and it didn´t work. People like the main map and ARAM is just a side thing people do for fun.
I wish I had the impulse money to buy it, because $40 ain't bad, but also curious to see if it'll still be popular by the end of the year. I imagine you'll get a kick out of it, but it'll get old fast if you're only able to jump in with random people.
looks like it'll be funner in a few months once they release more content. i hope that game takes off. GB needs some good oomph in the gaming industry. it really looks delicious. im gonna be stuck on GK though.
Have the game got it pre-order. you are right not a lot of content and the story is short but I'm hopping they just put put a 99% working game to have it out and upgrade and add later. The Dev's seem to be pretty active on twitch and love there own game and there is a active discord right now. Would have rather had it on steam rather then twitch but it's a nitpic on all the launchers I have to have.
When I got the new video alert I was hoping it was a before you buy for Gotham Knights. This interests me too though. But I’m patiently waiting for the GK one fellas!
I love the look of it, it does look really fun! But I've been on the fence about it because I wasn't sure how much content it would come with, with the prices as the are in the UK at the moment I can't warrant buying a game I'll probably drop off from after a couple weeks if it lacks! But maybe in a couple months I'll grab it! It was just a dam shame they never put the multiplayer in the Ghostbusters remastered. Gameranx never fails! Falcon, you're a hero 🦅
For me personally I’ll be buying it because I’m a huge fan. But I’ll be buying it for PC. Because on console I’ve noticed that for the first few months it’s easy to find a match. Then as time goes on it takes for ever to start a match. Usually it’s easier on PC to find players to match with as time goes on. That’s my thoughts.
I just tarted Ghostbusters Remastered.....Have you any idea the havoc I wrought at the Sedgwick Hotel 😂 'Don't cross the streams!!!!!' The problem with that game is it doesn't sync on devices so I kept it on the deck. And you gave me an idea for my Halloweeney rington...'Ghostbusters'....it never gets old. Getting my dock today so I can hook the Deck to my TV yay!!!! The crap I'm getting to go with it are costine me more than the Deck itself lol....sd card....case.....dock....new Xbox X/S controller so I don't need to monkey around with the other controller....cables...true they don't cost much but can you really be sure you have enough!!!!!
Sounds like the game released in an early state on purpose with a few year contract to keep working on the game. Maybe they could introduce a wallet with a cash indicator so that you can break stuff. Almost as if you’re being fined for the damage. The more expensive the item, the higher the fee. So you can more freely smash stuff but have a limit. Put in perks to increase your wallet.
Turn it on its head... 4v1 (4) ghosts versus (1) ghostbuster! Give the ghosts more personality by allowing for a dynamic customization... and have the ghostbuster be with more of the power up and toys!
They left that game with still bugs and issues and left it to gunmedia. They left because of the Friday lawsuit and used it as a scapegoat to leave the game and then went onto ruin the Predator franchise and now Ghostbusters.
@@user-rh5rz6nd4p I havent played this game but from what I have seen it's gonna be a while before i'll even attempt to get it, the game needs major dlc and content, they always release their games with the bare minimum and then add stuff later until they dont feel like supporting it.
