I gotta say, Roger did some of his best acting as Ghostface in Scream 5. The way his voice transitions from calm to sinister in the opening scene gives me chills.
It's the fact that he was finally able to give that kind of performance, whereas in the other films, it's basically been Ghostface being Ghostface right from the start, even in the original with Casey. In 5, it was a perfectly normal guy who then turned into Ghostface.
just a random thought. it would be awesome to hear roger try to call a customer service line. i have a feeling that 80 percent of the time he does, the representive just hangs up the phone because he thinks its a prank
Jill was twisted and terrifying, the way she killed Trevor without shaking her pulse, her motivation is for me the most "realistic" today we are seeing on social networks, people are doing anything to make their videos go viral and thus become famous, everything he tells Sidney is crazy but deep down very realistic and Emma Roberts is great in the character
Yeah i love her but as a ghostface killer she was weak she died from like 1 gunshot not even to the head but body. and charlie did most the killing for her....however her plan was amazing and i woulda never guessed she was gonna be the killer i thought she was the next sidney lol and then they pull a swerve.
@@topguntk870 I wish the original version of Scream 4 happened and there was no hospital scene. It just ended with her being the survivor.. would have been awesome!
Billy will always be the best to me, not only did he get it all started but his performance is chilling. He has such a blank stare and the rage that finally comes out of him in the reveal is terrifying. Also, he deserves credit for being the original mastermind behind the plan in that first movie (I know this was retconned)
Many Scream fans write off Mickey as “discount Stu”, but his motivations and execution was very different than Stu. He wanted to get caught and didn’t see the police as a threat. He also managed to kill many people by himself, while humbly acknowledging that he needed a partner, showing respect for Sidney’s fighting ability, and even getting the final jump scare despite being the “fall guy”. You also BELIEVED he could kill when he took the costume off; Timothy was intimidating and built at 29/30. It showed that he was the muscle and it wasn’t weak fight-or-flight magic granted like Charlie.
Also apparently he was a smaller serial killer before Scream 2. They state that they met on a Serial Killer website and he was a serial killer “on the way up”, so he at least killed people before Scream 2, he just needed some quote, nurturing, and thats shown since he clearly did most of the kills and was very smart in his one way and had Ms Loomis not killed him & they succeeded, I do think Mickey could’ve succeeded in his goal
He doesn't even act like Stu. I see other killers (mostly Amber) being criticised over the same thing, like apparently Stu invented being crazy and nobody else can display that emotion without plagiarising him 🙄
I think one of the best things about Billy and Stu is that they are remembered as great characters OUTSIDE of being the killers, which is a big deal because being able to fool Sidney and gain her trust is half the battle for each Ghostface. I think Mickey sorta has this going for him too. But the rest are only remembered for being the killer and their actions post reveal. Skeet and Matt did an amazing job both as separate characters and as partners in crime.
only problem I have with that is that we don't really know if mickey gained her trust or not because he was BARELY in the movie outside of being Ghostface
Man, am I happy to see Mickey get some love. He’s my favourite killer in the series. He’s genuinely terrifying. He has NOTHING to lose and WANTS to be caught. It also makes the characters like CiCi more upsetting to see die because she was just collateral to feed Mickey’s bloodlust. Definitely get the sense he was killing way before the events or Scream 2 before Mrs Loomis found him.
I like too that he literally is one of the few killers to have no tie ins with Sydney before they met at all and wouldn't have if he hadn't met Mrs. Loomis, he wasn't connected to her or the own in any way. And the fact that he enrolled in the school just to get close to her and gain her trust is actually disturbing! Same with Mrs. Loomis going to Gale's seminars and such, now I'm not sure if she really did or if she was just saying that but I wouldn't doubt it either.
@@raselahmed1503 He's my 2nd favorite killer, but he doesn't deserve first place- Billy does. Had Mickey not be betrayed, I'd say he would have been first place.
I went from "everyone's opinion is valid" to "YOU PUT MICKEY ABOVE STU?!" very quickly in this. 🤣 All very good points though. I love hearing someone else's reading of my favourite films.
I thought the same thing then I remembered he loves Mickey!! I think it was the last video that if he was doing it from pure bias Mickey would be in 1 or 2
Definitely agree with Mickey! And also what’s frightening about him is that we don’t know how many people he killed BEFORE the Windsor College murders. And the way he messed with Sidney’s head, especially at the end with Derek! I would put Amber higher up because she really creeped me out, and her kills were BRUTAL.
I honestly don't think that Mickey killed anyone before, more than anything because he might have caught him, that he had tendencies is possible. It is also unknown if the revelation Billy discovered about his father and his mother's abandonment made him a psychopath or without that revelation he would have been one the same.
My favorite 3 are billy, stu,Jill Mid Amber, Roman, Mickey Trash imo Richie( gave it away in first scene to me) ms. Loomis. (Super short and what old lady can do all that) charlie( died easy, quick)
1. Billy. 2 Jill she was smart abt it although not many kills 3. Stu. 4. Amber she was physco it was obvious she didn't hide it very well or she would have been higher 5. Mrs Loomis 6 Mickey 7.charlie he was smart would be lower but I rly didn't like the others 8. Roman 9. Richie he did nothing for amber and it sucked
What I find so chilling about Mickey is that he was an admitted active serial killer, and was probably doing it before Windsor. Mrs. Loomis gave him a target and he was happy to play. He had no real ties to his victims, though perhaps he had some genuine affection for them, as psychopaths do have feelings. I think it's more likely his narcissism was appeased that they couldn't see through him. I enjoyed his attempted manipulation of Sidney; I do think he got under her skin, but I also think Sid knew Derek was dead regardless. Mickey was the most realistic killer to me, and in a franchise based in reality that is extremely elevated, I enjoyed him. He ranks first for me, too.
Surprised to see Amber being ranked so low but I respect that hahaha for me Amber is definitely becoming one of my favourite Ghostfaces now, just so ferocious with her attacks and she just gives full-on psycho vibes. Now rewatching the film you can see how purely psychotic she really is pre-reveal. She is like a less goofy Stu packed with Mickey's madness. Oh and like you said she most definitely had a spectacular death that she absolutely deserved. That was for Dewey! I don't really have a ranking but to me: God tier: Billy, Roman and Jill High tier: Amber, Mickey and Stu Mid tier: Richie and Mrs. Loomis Low tier: Charlie
@@ghonnh20 Stu was a well flushed out character, Amber had 3 minutes of screen time pre reveal and they didn’t let us know that much about her.. Ultimately my biggest problem with her as the killer is the height difference.. I understand suspending disbelief but seeing her tower over Dewey then being some small girl it completely took me out
I think the most manipulative is Jill. In the film she is able to manipulate, Sidney, Kirby, the Police, Trevor, Charlie and her own Mother. Even she tried to Manipulate the media. In the other hand I am a bit impressed the low ranking of the new killers. I think we have so many examples in the real life about Toxic Fandom: - Kevin Loiblf - Andrew Phillip Cumanan - Mark David - Or the toxic fandom in K-pop. I mean, if we believe that Scream films are the most accurate to real life. ( Comparing : Jason , Child's play or Halloween...) We have a lot of examples in Real life how someone could go crazy. BTW just my opinion, totally agree with the rest of the ranking. And l love your content.
Another examples -Toxic Spider-Man Fans -Toxic Star Wars fans But, is the reason still ridiculous, and exaggerated, to start a killing spree just because you didn't like a movie? It would be the same thing as toxic Spider-Man fans starting a killing spree for not liking FFH, claiming Tobey's movies are the only good ones.
I would kind of agree with Amber being low in the list , but I would kind of disagree with her being emotional weak , I believe with her character they were going for that manipulative psycho killer vibe , I don’t believe she was actually begging for her life but more so attempting to be manipulative to see if they would actually fall for it, like also when she comes out the house acting like she was stabbed. She always immediately goes back to knowing exactly what she’s doing , she’s just baiting , and not actually emotional tied up.idk. Love the content!
In Scream 96 did you see Stu's attic? When Sydney ran up there there was weird dolls hanging by their neck and that shows Stu had psychological problems since being a child. Great video
OMG!!!!!! You got Roger!!!! You're a star!!!! Jill is still my favorite Ghostface (she is the most straight up evil of them all, and her motive is chilling), but Mickey is more slept on than any of them. I appreciate your defense of him and agree that he is the most psychotic, as well as the most convincing of them all as a legit homicidal maniac. Timothy Olyphant pulled out all the stops.
My ranked 9 - Charlie (I like his revelation, but his motive was weak and he was just a pawn that was quickly discarded). 8- Richie (OMG he and Amber are the most incompetent killers in the franchise, they had a low body count and many of their victims survived like Chad, Mindy and Tara (they tried to kill Tara like 3 times and failed), Richie was great as comic relief , but as a murderer he just whimpers and acts pathetically.) 7- Amber Freeman (Okay, the reason I put her above Richie is that the directors confirmed that it was Amber who convinced Richie to do the killing, it was Amber who killed more people (including Dewey), as Richie didn't like "dirtying his hands". And she was pretty good as a killer referencing Psycho and trying one of the best reveals ever (welcome to act three) ) 6 - Debbie Loomis (She had one of the best motives, she caught her husband with another woman, her son was killed trying to defend her, and she finally snapped, I found her plan to frame Mickey interesting, they could try to look for the other killer Debbie Salt doesn't exist, but she only killed Randy, having the lowest kill count.) Top 5 5 - Mickey Altieri (I like his acting, I like how he manipulates Sidney into thinking Derek is the killer, he has a large number of deaths, because he wanted to recreate the killers while Debbie just wanted revenge on Gale and Sidney for Billy's death, and he gets points for being a serial killer who was hired by Ms Loomis and unlike the other killers he really had a plan: let himself be captured to go to court and blame the movies, I believe this blaming the movies thing was to show how troubled he was and works very well.) 4 - Stu Macher ("My mom and dad are going to be so mad at me". He was fun as a character, and fun as an assassin, yes he was just a subordinate, but he had fun killing people and I would love to see him come back in Scream 6 as the main assassin leader of a cult dedicated to him and Billy, just say the word. that he has lost himself as a person and thinks he is the personification of the ghost face and doesn't accept amateurs trying to replace him.) 3 - Roman Brigder (Roman is very underrated, he's easily the smartest killer in the franchise, he's had the most kills from committing the murders alone (cough cough Angelina Tyler, 2 killer maybe) and he's so psychotic that he seems to be proud that he created 3 other killers Billy, Stu and Debbie Loomis. 2 - Jill Roberts (Why was Stab 8 bad? We had the best director and she didn't even become famous, she and Charlie even filmed the murders, give this girl another movie so she can get revenge. Jill shines like a killer, many might think she's just a bitch obsessed with fame, but it's more than that, she was dedicated to going to such lengths to kill her friends just to get that taste of fame, and the scene of her getting hurt is great) 1 - Billy Loomis ("We all go little mad sometimes". Nothing to say about him, just that he was the first murderer, the first to start it all, he had that bad boy boyfriend vibe and he also couldn't repair the fiction from reality, this boy is completely crazy.)
I would put Mrs Loomis on that list, basically she is a mother who wants to avenge the death of a child. Let's think about it, a woman snatches her son from her and that woman's daughter snatches her son from her. For me better than Jill, because if the girl wanted fame, then she could put her photos on instagram and not make a killing. Of course, the secondary ones like Mickey or Stu, what makes them terrifying is that they are murderers for practically no reason.
@@danielmartinezmayoral6959 I personally like Ms Loomis much more than Richie or Charlie, and she is certainly more effective than Amber. And the only one who had no motive was Mickey because he was already a serial killer, Stu wanted to kill Casey for exchanging him for Steve, but he ended up finding the whole killing fun.
I love to see the scream 2 killers so high up in your ranking. I think that Laurie Metcalf and Timothy Olyphant delivered the best performances out of any killers in the final acts. They were so entertaining!
Happy to see some good Mickey takes! He’s so terrifying on a different level than any of the other killers. His psychological mind games with Sid start early on and it’s amazing to see how he gets in her head.
mickey is the scariest in the sense he wanted to get caught and he killed because he enjoyed killing. The scariest motive is the one with NO MOTIVE and thats what mickey was! so underrated
Roman is my favorite. He was the most creative. Bringing everyone to his playground making it almost impossible for anyone to escape when he was chasing them
@@CloakXBlaze the emotional connection was heart felt too. A serial killer driven into a world of hate and not because he was completely insane, is some real life deep shit
Romans combat skills were superhuman, he literally killed a big bodyguard with ease. has the highest kill count of any ghostface with 9 kills. Not to mention he did it all by himself! no partner needed. He was by far the most intelligent and unstoppable ghostface. too bad in scream 3 he didn't get that many scenes we got to know more about him only in the final act. thats the only reason some people dont put him higher is because he barely got any scenes but boy when he did he shined! he was the total package when it comes to scary, comedy, emotional and fun.
Nancy Loomis has always been my favorite ghostface, I know she didn't really do much as a ghostface but I just really enjoyed the classic, Mrs.Voorhees type motive. Plus I can't exactly put it in to words but the more you actually think about it, you'll start to realize Mrs.Loomis is actually quite unique among the ghostface killers.
9. Mrs. Loomis (more of a puppet master than anything) 8. Richie (more whiney than menacing) 7. Charlie (gets too much hate, his kills are great) 6. Amber Freeman (fun and psycho but kinda a 180) 5. Roman (plays mental gymnastics with the voice box, biggest kill count) 4. Jill (solid motive) 3. Stu (gotta love Matt Lillard) 2. Billy (the OG) 1. Mickey (slept on; has kills BEFORE the movie, had to infiltrate a friend group, etc)
Mrs Loomis mentions that she found him on a psycho serial killer website and says he was one on the way up but I dont know that he had actually killed before. The way that he looks at the knife after killing Phil made it seem like it was his first
@@sth12c88 that’s an interesting read into it. Possible, but I think it’s either his first knife kill or maybe he was just double checking to be sure the blade went far enough through the wall
I am so pleasantly surprised with your rankings. This is the first time I've seen someone rank Mickey first place and I am so happy to see this. Mickey has always been my favorite killer ever since I saw Scream 2 as a kid. I just wish we got to see him more in his psychotic mode. And of all the motives killers have had in the franchise, I have always felt that his was the most "fresh" and made him the most dangerous of all the GhostFace killers.
Nice Video! The Ghostface killers should be ranked in pairs (beside Roman of course) since it is their dynamic which makes or breaks their sole characters. That is also the reason why Stu and Billy will most likely always be on the top of these lists, the chemisty between them is outstanding.
Monumental moment to see Roger L. Jackson do the intro to your video. You've come a long way Zack! Proud of you. And thank you for pointing out how manipulative Mickey was. People tend to overlook how effective he was at it. Completely agree with your ranking.
I’m real interested too. Cuz I think there’s a world where Amber killed everyone or it was an even split. I subscribe to Richie killing everyone who was stabbed in neck (Vince, Wes, hospital cop)
@@genericname34 but with Wes’ kill Ghostface did the double hand move which is Amber’s. Richie also couldn’t have done the hospital cop because he was heading to the hospital with Sam. The only kill that I think is really up for debate is Vince
@@benjihudson2768 he wasn’t going with Sam, he met Tara there and was knocked out by Ghostface. Plus Radio Silence has said both Richie and Amber were at the Hicks’, which to me supports the one each narrative
@@benjihudson2768 and when he attacked Mindy he was using two hands as well as the slow lunge he did towards him plus he used two hands just to make it easier I think Amber uses two hands cus she obviously just can’t with one I don’t really think it’s an MO
Absolutely loved this video Zack! Incredible intro incredible achievement and comparing Jill to Cartman had me in stitches as soon as you said Casa Bonita I started singing 🤣
Jill is #1 for me she was the only one I could see getting away with it without the hospital scene. And the killer talking too much is literally what they all do…
Jill talked way too much for example telling dewey "hows gales arm" and when dewey tells gale she goes "how'd she know"...if jill shut her mouth she coulda killed sidney in the hospital but instead because she ran her mouth dewey and gale and judy end up hellping sidney. same for billy for taking too long and roman had her like 4 times, one point roman coulda shot her in the head but chose to shoot her in the chest (which she had a bulletproof vest) .....mickey coulda killed sidney also if ms loomis didnt shoot him lol....so all ghostfaces messed up in there own way......scream 5 was the weakest.
@@topguntk870 billy and Stu didn’t talk too much? Mrs. Loomis didn’t talk too much? I could go on but they all talk too much. Jill messed up not slitting Sidneys throat. If she would of made sure Sidney was dead she could of been the first to win.
Great ranking. When you mentioned Laurie Metcalf's unhinged performance, it made me think of when they brought a stage version of Misery to Broadway maybe 6 or 7 years ago, and she played the Kathy Bates role. Those are big shoes to fill, but she was absolutely bonkers crazy and seeing that hobbling scene live on stage (and she was opposite Bruce Willis) was something I'll never forget. The special effect was scarily gross, and she just stole the scene. Still not my favorite killer, but I love your shoutout to her performance.
My top, based on personal enjoyment, would be : 9. Charlie Walker (Scream 4) 8. Mrs Loomis (Scream 2) 7. Amber Freeman (Scream - 2022) (From here, I really like all of them so it was hard to rank them) 6. Mickey Altieri (Scream 2) 5. Roman Bridger (Scream 3) 4. Billy Loomis (Scream) 3. Jill Roberts (Scream 4) 2. Richie Kirsch (Scream - 2022) 1. Stu Macher (Scream) Great video BTW!!
Here’s my list 9: Charlie Walker 8: Amber Freeman 7: Richie Kirsch 6: Mrs Loomis 5: Mickey Altieri 4: Roman Bridger 3: Jill Roberts 2: Billy Loomis 1: Stu Macher Btw, I think that Stu was the most dangerous killer, but that’s just my opinion
I always feel like an idiot when people say like "oh that killer was too obvious" (like when you said about Richie), because I'm always surprised by the reveals 😅 I never even try to guess who the killer is throughout the movies and just go with it. But anyways, great video! I'm looking forward to the "Who killed who in Scream (2022)" video, especially about who killed Judy and Wes, since for me the other kills are pretty easy to deduct
The legend himself graces us with his presence. Oh! AND he brought Roger L. Jackson too. Sweet! 😂 But for real, RLJ is a gentleman for the quick message. 🖤🖤🖤🖤 Thanks fuh the treat, Mistah Cherry!
Roman’s Ghostface felt like the most unstoppable and tactical one of the series. He literally took on 4 people at once in that bedroom scene at Milton’s mansion, pulled the rug out from under Tyson (literally lmao) when he tried to escape, managed to capture both Gale and Dewey, was the only killer that didnt need a slave or partner to do his work, was one of the only killers who was evenly matched against Sidney, and was responsible for the entire series taking place. he planned himself and executed the plans by himself. Roman was the only killer who didn't need a partner to bounce ideas off of, he was the most intelligent killer a true mastermind. yet he still got the highest kill count of any ghostface! he was almost superhuman if you locked all 9 ghosface killers from all 5 movies in a room and they all had a kill off to death to see who wins, roman would win by far.
One thing I wanna say about Scream 2022 is that I’ve watched it twice now and it probably has the most graphic kills I’ve seen and even knowing that Richie was one of the killers he was very convincing. Of all of the victims I felt the most sympathy for Wes and Judy because Wes was probably my favorite new character and I wanted to see more of him. This kinda turned into a ramble so I apologize.
I also loved Wes as a new character! But killing him off (especially so early) was a terrible decision!! He was actually named Wes after Wes Craven, so why would you want to kill off a character named after the iconic master of horror to pay homage to him?! (Especially at the end of the movie where it says “For Wes”! They should have kept Wes alive to pay more respect for Wes Craven by keeping Wes alive!-but Wes’s death was probably my favorite from the movie.
@@roxasora225 I think there is a surprise factor. Because Wes is named after the legend himself, many viewers may think he would survive it until the last or die just before that(like a heroic death). But this mid-film kill gives viewers much shock. Eventhough this particular killing of Wes was spoiled to me (random videos 😅), I still felt the shock
That voice 😍 Love your rankings. Even if I don’t always agree, I respect your opinions. Well researched and obviously the love for this franchise is evident!
Awesome video, also *killer* shirt. I've been looking forward to you revisiting the rankings, especially since seeing your Scream 4 "who killed who" video. It seems like I'm alone, but I really like Charlie, not so much him as a character (kinda bland), but behind the Ghostface mask he was brutal. Also, you got Roger Jackson for an intro?? Nice!
Jill is one of my favorite killers, for sure. She's so smart, she planned ahead *very* well. Her one flaw... was not stabbing Sidney in a more fatal place and giving away the "matching" wound. Though, the matching wound thing could have actually been flipped around - maybe "the killer" said something to her about stabbing Gale and that's how she knew, had she gotten away with everything else. Though that *is* a stretch. Not impossible, but still hard to get away with. Edit: 16:21 .... 😅
@@rubyrose9258 I always found it stupid that she wouldn’t have overkilled bc bitch is a literal psycho but I agree with Zack that she would have got caught eventually. She makes the dumb error most serial killers make in being way too close to the crimes & reveling in keeping trophies
Love love LOVE the Ghostface intro!! Props on that, and a huge fandom thanks to Roger L. Jackson for taking the time. I definitely like this ranking better than the first, because Jill never felt like a #1 killer to me. She's an odd mix of strong strategy and weak personality. The first four killers all had so much charisma that just made them more enjoyable as killers (Mrs. Loomis would be the lesser of the four, in my opinion, but I don't disagree with your assessment. I could see her in either 3rd or 4th). Personally, I prefer Billy as the top killer, but also see how Mickey was impressively manipulative. He also didn't have the advantage of having been dating Sydney, which would have made it a hint easier for Billy to manipulate her, as would the fact Billy had known her so much longer than Mickey. The top spot could definitely go to either of them, so do agree they are interchangeable.
The intro was so dope! *screen recorded* I agree with all of the list except for the final 2. I’m surprised you have Billy at #2. I would have swapped bc of how good Billy was taking Sidney on an emotional roller coaster.
Huge fan of your channel. Love that you got Roger to do this that must be the coolest thing for you as a fan of the series! Personal ranking: 1) Jill 2) Billy 3) Stu 4) Mickey 5) Amber 6) Richie 7) Roman 8) Mrs. Loomis 9) Charlie I have a preference for just how fun the killer acts overall in the film whether that be before or after. I think the main point of the series is ultimately to have fun with it, and I the order I picked them in is who I consider to be the most fun!
Not sure how I feel about your new 1st placement (I personally don’t agree), but overall- great list and explanations! I do think you did give some great points justifying your placement for Mickey, though. I’m guessing you might have to start making a new one soon after this weekend! 👻🔪 Side note- out of all the revisions and changes the scripts went through, I think the one change that bums me out the most is that we could have had 10 current killers since originally- Angelina Tyler (Sidney’s actress in Stab 3) was supposed to be Roman’s accomplice/partner in Scream 3!
All the Amber Stans on scream Reddit are not gonna like this 😂😂😂 Edit: Also I still believe that Angelina helped Roman in 3. There’s nothing pointing to say she didn’t.
I actually agree with your ranking! Jill does go down the list when you realise she doesn’t do much of the killing, she just manipulated charlie to do most of the work. Mickey is always high up on my list. Stu is an amazing character but not my fave killer-I think I just love matthew lillard 😂
For the reason why you put Jill so low is why I put her so high. She was the closest out of all the Ghostface’s to actually get what she wanted and for the majority of it, she didn’t lift a finger.
@@reesey8676 I definitely get why she’s very high on some peoples lists. She owns the last twenty minutes of scream 4 and I find the ‘psychotic her’ really enjoyable. Just personal preference as to how you decide to rank/what you’re considering when ranking.
@@Theyrecomingtogetyoubarbara You do realize that Zack's video is just a theory and not the actual truth, right? Wes Craven had Jill under the Ghostface mask while stabbing Sid so I doubt she didn't do anything herself. While it may not be logical, it's pretty much hinted that she killed Jenny, Rebecca, the two cops and her mom as Ghostface.
2:47 If he'd heard about the previous killings and had watched the Stab films he should have known that Billy planned to kill Stu and Mrs Loomis tried to kill Mickey so he should have anticipated Jill would do the same to him.
Yeah I think with Jill it was that she needed to be the one to kill Sydney even though you know no-one was going to know that she did it because obviously she was framing Trevor and Charlie I think she needed that win in her head and that's not going to work because it's Sidney Prescott
I really don't understand why Roman is not higher nor why he is so hated. People, we would not have the scream franchise or Ghostface as we know it, had Roman not orchestrated Mareens murder. There would be no Ghostfaces AT ALL without his influence. Also, he is the only killer to date who did everything on his own. Regardless If that makes the movie less believable, it is known fact in our scream universe that he did it alone. All others needed an accomplice for one reason or another. I think a lot of people hold onto other versions of scream 3 or things they wish had happened instead so much, that they fail to watch the movie and the story for what it is, a continuation and conclusion to the story. It may not be what everyone wanted, but it still was made with intent. It may not have been the writer or Wes Cravens original vision, but he still as always put intent behind what he made. By that I mean I feel like Roman's story and the whole movie is so overlooked, details included, simply cuz we keep holding onto the idea that this isn't really the movie that was meant to be made. If we start thinking of it as intentional and made the way it was supposed to, I think Roman and the movie itself can become more enjoyable. Roman's personality makes sense to me and makes it more entertaining when you learn he's sydneys brother, acting like a child who didn't get his way. I personally felt he portrayed that sibling tension well in that one scene alone, and though she was fighting Ghostface, I looked at it more as two siblings going at each other like any normal siblings would, just in an unconventional way, which again made it more entertaining for me. The details of them thinking alike with the bullet vest was cool too, I felt they paralleled each other well in thst one scene we got. Roman's death was also the only one I felt a little sad for. I liked that Sydney held his hand as he "died", and the look and words exchanged between the two. I always thought that little part was beautiful. Jeeze had Roman just tried to reach out to Sydney, she would have excepted him as her brother, but instead he chose to be a petty psycho. Trauma man. I just....really don't understand the hate for Roman or this movie. Try with fresh eyes, and maybe you'll like it better!
THANK YOU! Romans by far my favorite killer. He was the most superhuman and by far the most intelligent killer. Nobody even comes close to his level of smart. I think peoples problem is he didn't have enough scenes till the final act, but whenever he was on the screen I couldn't keep my eyes off him. He was so charasmatic and fun. Hes the perfect ghostface killer in all senses.
The way I see it there is no "best ghostface" each ghostface has their own pros and cons that make them better or worse than another one Billy: he definitely had a smart plan but he also was kind of a hothead Stu: best killer performance-wise but he didn't really contribute and was essentially being bossed around by Billy the whole time Micky: he's a genuine psycho making it a lot easier for him to kill but his motives were weak as he didn't think about anything except being famous for the trial Mrs Loomis: had one of the most realistic motives and a genuine surprising reveal but also had basically disappeared from Billy's life until then and now she shows up And cares about him Roman: has the best tech and the smartest brains but his motive can make him sound like a whiny brat and he didn't kill Gale or Dewey but somehow still expected to frame Sydney Charlie: he had some of the most brutal kills but his motive was definitely the weakest Jill: once again had some of the most brutal kills and could have gotten away with it but her ego would have made her slip up Amber: definitely the most shocking reveal and actually managed to kill one of our main trio members but is sloppy and unprepared Richie: one of the few who genuinely worked together with their partner but their motives are weak and just like Amber is sloppy
I actually disagree when you say Amber’s emotional back-and-forth scene showed weakness. I interpreted it as her adapting to the situation to manipulate Gale/Sidney’s emotions and regain the advantage. Too bad she ended up being very obvious about it (not only here but on the porch scene as well). So I guess it did end up becoming a weakness. But aside from that, I thoroughly enjoyed this (fully expected Billy to be #1). I particularly loved your breakdown of Roman’s character. Also major props for actually getting Roger. My list would be: 1. Jill 2. Mickey 3. Billy 4. Mrs. Loomis 5. Roman 6. Stu 7. Richie 8. Amber 9. Charlie
I think Stu is most peoples favorite because he was funny & Matthew Lillard is such a fantastic actor. Mickey was the creepiest one for me because he was just truly psychotic & again, Timothy Olyphant is an awesome actor. Roman had the best motive imo & the fact that he was the only one to do it solo was impressive. His only downside for me was lack of screen time as Roman & I would've liked to see him form a relationship with Sid.
I love seeing how Jill is mostly in the top 5 or 3 ghostface's,everything about her was amazing, but I wish they gave her some more personality before the reveal to make the reveal even more shocking
Billy, Mickey and Jill are my favourite Ghostface Killers, simply down to their motives and execution (both literally and figuratively). Mrs Loomis is also a great Killer as there's nothing scarier than a Crazy Mother avenging her Crazy Son.
Stu is the only killer that has a different motive to every other killer because every killer either wants fame or revenge. Whereas Stu's motive is peer pressure.
the intro was amazing! Roger L. Jackson kills it! my ranking would be: 9 Roman, lame kills and because of his very short screen time a forgettable character but a good motive just weakly executed 8 Charlie, good kills but weak character 7 Richie, he was to obvious but I liked his character 6 Amber, great kills (even when they weren’t really believable) and I really liked her character but I think she would have been a better killer if they wouldn’t have cut her relationship with Tara 5 Mrs. Loomis, nice motive and her crazy eyes amazing 4 Mickey, he was a great killer but I really didn’t like his character 3 Jill, she was psychotic!! how she beat herself up was just amazing!! and a very nice motive 2 Stu, great kills and very funny! he’s just entertaining to watch 1 Billy, good motive and really nice killings and of course his phone calls were the best!
I think with Amber going back and fourth was she was trying to embody being crazy like Stu and then pretending to break to see if it would work which she forgot she was dealing with the OG girls so of course they didnt believe her. If you notice Amber was calm and collective during the movie until the final act. Then she tried to embody the killer she was obsessed with which is Stu
5:45 I don’t like this criticism :( I thought how Amber flipped back and forth actually just showed how crazy she was, and it made sense since she was arguably the biggest manipulator of the two.
Love this list.😁🖤 Also, interesting you called Roman the “Tony Stark” of the Ghostfaces. Now epicly curious as to which other Avengers the rest of the killers are.🤣 👌🏻💯
Ranked based on how much I liked the character and them as Ghostface: 9-Charlie(Did most of the dirty work but was not a fan of him as a character at all.) 8-Amber(She did most of the killings but her being the one to kill Dewey upsets me so it's more of a personal choice.) 7-Mickey(Another Ghostface who did most of the work, but for me I didn't connect with the character as much.) 6-Roman(I give him credit for being the only Ghostface to do it all on his own. However, his motive for going on a killing spree all over being abandoned is weak. Like you said, he was doing just fine in life and didn't personally know Sidney). 5-Mrs. Loomis(Her motive for seeking vengeance and just her crazy psychotic climax is why I rank her higher than Mickey.) 4- Richie(I know he's not the best Ghostface but I don't care he's probably my favorite Character in the franchise. So it's more bias, plus Jack Quaid did an amazing job as the caring boyfriend. The toxic fandom motive is actually believable especially in this day and age.) 3-Stu(Him as a character just awesome he was so goofy. We saw the dark side of Shaggy.) 2-Jill(I almost want to put her as #1 but she got very cocky and spoke too much. However, that fact that she came really close to killing Sidney and almost getting away with it ranks her high.) 1-Billy Loomis(I have to give him the most credit because he did it first. It's as simple as that.)
i was lowkey mad about billy being second to mickey. but your reasoning makes so much more sense as to why you did. me personally though; id say - billy - mickey - jill - stu - richie - amber - mrs loomis - roman - charlie
Here's my ranking: 1) Stu 2) Billy 3) Mickey 4) Jill 5) Richie 6) Roman 7) Amber 8) Mrs. Loomis 9) Charlie I like all of the Ghostface killers except for maybe Charlie. Mrs Loomis also didn't play a big role in Scream 2, making the reveal a bit bland for me.
