Tuesday is Halloween, the spookiest day of the year. Some people like to use the holiday to visit scary attractions like haunted houses. In historic Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, a ghost tour takes visitors to places that are said to be haunted. But that’s no surprise to locals, who say they often see and hear paranormal activity. VOA’s Deborah Block has the spine-chilling story.

I’ve been there many times to walk the trails and see the town. Never once did I see, hear, or feel anything out of the ordinary.

I live in Harpers ferry, and it is such a beautiful place full of history and emotions. It is my favorite place in the world. I am an empath and can feel a lot of emotions when I go down to the town. But it’s all calming. I don’t hear of any negative ghostly sightings. But I do feel there are spirits there.

I used to visit from northern Virginia at least once a month. I never understood the draw to me as I'm originally from masdachusetts. I can tell you that while there I felt like I was home. Even looking back at it I'm still attracted to Harper's Ferry. It feels like a strong bond with no real explanation.

I don't know. I have been to Harpers Ferry many times, but I never saw one ghost. I even went in the grave yard at night. Saw nothing though. Tryed calling to a ghost. No real response.

I live in Harpers ferry, and I know a lot about the history. It is possible he could haunt harpers ferry, but I doubt he would. It is such a beautiful place, full of so many emotions and history. And John Brown wasn’t killed here. He was hung somewhere in Charles town WV. Then buried in another state. I don’t think his spirit really lingers here.
