Eastern Air Lines Flight 401 was a scheduled flight from New York’s JFK airport to Miami. Shortly before midnight on December 29, 1972, the Lockheed L-1011-1 TriStar crashed into the Florida Everglades, causing 101 total fatalities. All three cockpit crew members, two of the 10 flight attendants, and 96 of the 163 passengers were killed; 75 people survived.
The crash occurred while the entire flight crew were preoccupied with a burnt-out landing gear indicator light. The captain bumped the control yoke on the aircraft, causing it to turn off the autopilot. Due to the focus on the landing gear, the pilots didn’t notice. Because of this, the aircraft gradually lost altitude and crashed into the swampy, alligator infested, Florida Everglades.
Captain Robert Loft and First Officer Don Repo were among those who had perished in the crash, and the crew of other Eastern Airlines planes insisted their ghosts made appearances on-board later flights. Ghostly sightings were so common, that there were more than 20 instances reported. It has been reported that parts were salvaged from the crashed plane and the ghosts of the dead crew members have been encountered on the planes with those parts.

So how do you distinguish fact from what people in the experience were thinking? Example when you said shot down. Is it possible the passengers were thinking that the plane had been shot down since they weren't privy to what was going on in the cockpit?

Jess I just want to comment on your loss from the s u i c i d e you experienced years ago. I remember you going into detail about & who it was. I won’t say here tho. I cannot imagine how hard that was from you. & the amount of guilt you probably have/had from it all. I pray you’ve made peace w all this. Especially since helping him move into the light. Understand that right there was probably a lot more important than anything you could have done w him here. You are such an incredibly beautiful soul. & I hope you know how wonderful you are. There are seats from that plane still out there. People have shacks ( some are nicer than most homes) out in Area 2 ( that part of the Everglades is called Area 2) and they have the seats on their porch. They are only accessible by airboats but I have seen them. Back then there was no pythons and there were never anacondas. Hurricane Andrew in 92 blew down homes n pet shops. Thats how the pythons got there and started breeding. Now its absolutely devastating the environment.
