The author isnt the one who made the anime deviate from the manga, its the studio. With season 1 they condensed 60+ chapters into 13 epsiodes, censored it, altered characters and events. When the studio done season 2, the author made storyboards to try and fix the studio's mess with season 2 in season 3 but they refused. Then when the studio realised how much they screwed up, they chose to act like season 2 doesnt exist and continue following the manga in season 3 and completely fumbled the adapation. Its the studio's fault not the author, Tokyo Ghoul anime needs a reboot.

Is season 3 and 4 good tho? I know season 2 is beyond ass. (I read both tokyo goul and re but I dropped re 100 chapters in because it got too confusing)

@@the_mse s3 and 4 aren't good since they still condensed alot of chapters in those seasons. If the manga is confusing for you, I recommend watching a review video after every chapter (for example read chapter 1, watch a chapter 1 review, read chapter 2 etc.)

The transition to white hair was bad though.... manga really showed why his hair turned white.

@@abhabh6896 Not really bad lol. The manga had the time to explain it, the manga's torture scenes were a more involved process. The anime just went with a metaphorical lense to save run time. You don't need to know why Kaneki's hair turned white, it quite literally isn't plot relevant beyond signifying Kaneki's mental state...in both the anime and the manga.

@@abhabh6896tbh kaneki’s hair doesn’t make sense even in the manga lol (going to black and white then black then back to full white again) At the end of the day it’s just a cool anime transformation.

in the original, his hair turns white gradually from stress. and the moment "I am a ghoul" is more gloomy, there he blows up his face, tearing out an eye (ordinary, human)

Glad Adam got to finish off on a high note with a super hype episode. Unfortunately, after this point, the studio deviates from the manga for S2. Leaving out lots of important stuff, changing character motivations and other weird choices. They keep a lot of the major pieces from the manga. Sorta. But then S3 completely follows what happens in the manga. So people who didn't read the manga were left super confused between S2 and 3. No explanation. The show literally just made everything worse and then tried to pretend it didn't happen. Really unfortunate.

The studio never planned to follow the manga, so there's important details left out of the anime, as well as a mini arc where kaneki is captured and they have to fight the bin Brothers (the S rank ghouls amon killed in ep 11)

heey, I'm whitening my hair too! 😄 I don't have this dark hair as you, Adam but.. yeah.. I'm on yellow-ish stage now. Gotta make it once or twice more till it's done. We did it at home, tho.. for like 6$? Not sure how much did the color cost..

The way I think about it is that Ishida Sui (the author) was being tied up in the same chair as Kaneki by Kadokawa (his publisher) and Studio Pierrot (anime studio) execs, forced to choose to have Pierrot do the changes themselves, or have him do the changes himself. Clearly he chose the latter. From what I understand, the idea was to make TG an edgy battle shounen even though it was a seinen (adult) manga. The changes in S1 were still not completely detrimental, but S2 just went "screw it". Like, having rewatched the show through these reactions, oh boy, I forgot how they crammed the plot harder than the vase demon in Kimetsu did to his victims.

Just like Naruto and its sequel series Shippuden the anime caught up to the manga when it wasn't done and had all these unnecessarily fillers....In my opinion I don't have a problem with Tokyo Ghoul second season at all because I never read the Manga so I don't know what story is canon or not.... BTW it was Tokyo Ghoul re. A lot of fans of the manga knew that they were trying to cramp a lot of stuff in that it wasn't a good season to them. They should have had a lot more episodes in season 3 and 4.

No, it didn't. The manga for Tokyo Ghoul ended around the same time as the 1st season of the anime did. The Tokyo Ghoul:re manga ended around the same time as the Tokyo Ghoul:re anime started. They never ran out of source material for the anime.

People thought the aniem for re was shit because the director took his own creative liberties while trying to retain all the big plot points which fucked up all the character’s motivations and the whole story became a sesspool of things that didnt make sense. The reaosn for all of that was also cause the author decided to leave production and leave it to the director.
