This is what gaming use to be like. You have a friend or two come over an game it up. Maybe it was a Friday night an you would rent some games an get some pizzas an have a friend stay the night an game it up till 3am
I remember that, then when I got to be about middle school age, that turned into playing online games with your friends until 3 am. Which was another fun experience. Now I don't play games much anymore but I have a lot of fond memories playing games with a few friends.
@rockman fan In a way I guess. Sometimes I'll still sit down and play for a few hours but it's been weeks and weeks since I last played anything. Just nothing out there that really turns me on anymore, the last game to really turn me on was Red Dead Redemption 2.
I barely use the gold armor, because it does not have invincibility frames like on the Super Nintendo. Or if it does, it is not enough. Charging the armor leaves you wide open for attack.
James & Mike mondays - the only place where you can watch two good friends play video games while getting lessons about vintage movies. I love it! Keep it up for at least another 5-6 years guys.
In response to the, "Ghostbusters" question about Gozer; upon seeing her, Ray remarks, "It's a girl." To which Egon declares, "It's Gozer." Winston then says he thought Gozer was a man, and Egon replies, "It's whatever it wants to be." I think the embodiment of Gozer we all see was its estimation of a human being chosen best to interact with humans.
Originally Paul Reubens was supposed to be Ivo Shandor reincarnated as Gozer, but for whatever reason they picked the woman who I think was a European model to play Gozer.
They used the woman because Paul Reubens had a schedule conflict and couldn't do it. Which is a shame cause I think he would have been creepy as hell if done correctly
Egon says not to cross the streams because there's a chance that it could cause 'total protonic reversal' and all life would stop immediately. This is why they do cross the streams INSIDE the doorway to Gozer's universe, causing a catastrophe there but not in our universe. This occurs AFTER the summoning of The Traveller.
Mega Man X on SNES has massive amounts of slowdown at times too, especially when you're riding those carts in Armored Armadillo stage. The best part is that they kept it in for the SNES Mini Classic edition
@Lightfooot true.. I thought something like "WTF? Why doesn't he get the knife? Any why is Mike not telling him too?" not even knowing the game before, nor the boss....
Really tell when someone is pulling shit out of their ass. Pretty much anybody who played the Snes version had no problem with the controls, stop with unresponsive bullshit because you can't beat it, lol
Hey, if you are at the beginning of the level. Theres one funny glitch in the game. When you kill the flower skull monster, stand on the of the ladder, press hold up and jump. You'll see an invisible ladder.😄
From the Ghostbusters movie: *Ray Stantz*: It's a girl. *Egon Spengler*: It's Gozer. *Winston Zeddemore*: I thought Gozer was a man. *Egon Spengler*: It's whatever it wants to be. Seems like it was just a form Gozer chose. He/she/it could have chosen the form of a talking chicken if it wanted to.
There's also a version of this on the japan only PC Engine Supergrafx. That one plays and looks exactly like the arcade version. When comparing it to the Genesis title, you'll see difference.
You were not close. I play the game all the time on my genesis. After you kill the fly, you do the game again, but this time when you have the golden armor, get a treasure chest. When you break it (WHILE HAVING THE GOLD ARMOR), you get a REALLY OP weapon and it's kinda like a haduken and it kills everyone you hit it with really fast, even the bosses. When having that weapon the second playthrough is easier. Then after killing the fly again you fight the true final boss But before having the haduken attack GET-THE-KNIFE
Thumbs up on giving them advice but these are pre taped so they already know about all of this mike beat the game twice on cinemasscre plays and got the hoduken weapon
Yeah, I remember I got it the second time around and assumed that was the item they wanted me to have. It was basicaly a punch so strong it sent a shockwave if I remember right. Was a ring or something.
Well the reason why I think these 3 would work well in a comicbook story is their common themes, 3 stories that happen in medieval/dark ages, all 3 use magic and all 3 have demons and ghosts, Mega Man has none.
I'd love to see you play some classic DOS platformers like Abuse, Alien Carnage, Jazz Jackrabbit, Cosmo, Duke Nukem or any Commander Keen (Preferably 4, as that is the best one in my book)
They remade this game on the original xbox on the "Capcoms classics collection" game. It's a lot harder than this version. The ai is smarter, no restarts at the boss, you only get the halfway point. However, one thing I like is how they fixed the hit detection In the remake. The hit box is a little off in the original version.
The Genesis version of Ghouls 'n Ghosts is my favorite game ever. I was in Oklahoma City when I bought it around Sep 1989. I was in the military and took leave to Kansas City area in Oct and played it at home, got through a few levels but still didn't beat it yet. They shipped me to S. Korea in Nov, I mailed my Genesis to myself at Osan Air Base and resumed playing GnG again in late Nov and I think I beat it just before Christmas. At the time I thought to myself "Man, they will never make another video game with graphics or sounds better than this!". Ah, to be in my naive early 20's again.
from what i heard in the Ghostbuster's bonus materials and the dvd commentary long ago, Gozer was based on Grace Jones as that's who they had in mind to play her, hence the flat top line. i may be wrong, it was a lot of years sinced i watched every making of featurette
My personal favourite of the four main GnG games. But I much prefer the arcade version. The Soundtrack on that is amazing and the graphics are also alot better. Also the Arcade Version doesn't have checkpoints before bosses, instead just one in the middle of the stage like every other GnG game. One more thing. If you beat the Fly Boss on your second playthrough you get to fight a naked satan sitting on a throne afterwards.
Ooo, the Genesis/Megadrive one, nice! This one's a great in-between on the consoles, like if you do a small marathon, fitting this between the original NES one and the original SNES one is absolutely perfect. On that note, I think there are actually a lot of interesting small marathons to be had by specifically using these three systems. On that note, just to gush a bit about gaming presentation ideas, I really want to see or even personally try this: Wily Wars on Genesis (that's Mega Man 1, 2, and 3 along with a new bonus Wily sequence), Mega Man 4, 5, and 6 on NES, then Mega Man 7 on SNES followed by Mega Man 8 on Saturn followed by Mega Man 11 on anything. Then, of course, MM9 and MM10 would be an encore for anyone who wanted to stick with the whole event, and the NES 1,2, and 3 as a bonus finale. This, to me, would be the absolute perfect way to present the classic Mega Man series to audiences who may not wish to actually play the games. I think the Genesis Wily Wars, in particular, is really underrated; it's a brilliant remaster of the original 3. It even fixed the Top Spin, making it go from being one of the worst to one of the best! :D Also, haha, "the toilet line" from Dracula! I used to joke about that, like, "brb gotta have myself a quick toilet". XD
The Master System version is really cool with the whole shop system and permanent upgrades, it sure makes the game a lot easier, but it doesn't make it easy.
OHMYGOD!! Count Dracula BBC with Louis Jordain! I can't believe James knows about the most faithful adaptation of Dracula. It's a must see for Dracula fans!
The Master System and the Genesis are two completely different Systems. You mean Megadrive / Genesis. And you should compare that version with the SNES version, not the NES version (16 bit vs. 16 bit, not 16 bit vs. 8 bit)
Ok guys, according to the Ghostbusters wiki According to Dan Aykroyd, Gozer was based on several things - a Gozer Chevrolet dealership in upstate New York and was a name related to a documented haunting in England, the one "Poltergeist" was based on. During the haunting, the name Gozer appeared on walls and things
Mike, there is a Saturn port of all 3 (Capcom collection). It's the arcade port of all 3. Would be interesting for you to cover that some time, especially Ghouls n Ghosts.
I am still surprised he even got passed that bitch of a second to last boss. The one who shoots all those flames and shit. Hated that boss when I tried proffesional mode and had to beat him with the short range ring. I gave up after like 50 deaths lol
Anybody notice how at 2:42 Mike just nonchalantly takes Super Ghouls and Ghosts out of its shrink wrap? Like he just knows it’ll get some collectors on edge.
The dress part of the Alamo story is true. His drinking was so out of control that out of desperation, Sharron hid all of his clothes so he couldn't leave the hotel room while they were on tour in Texas. He wound up putting on one of her dresses and went out and got shitfaced then stopped to take a piss but didn't realize where he was pissing when a cop spotted him.
The Capcom Classics Collection on PS2 has the Arcade version of this game and the PS1 version of SG&G which is superior to the SNES version in case you guys and gals are interested.
James and Mike are badass at retro games! James in this is distracted, and the Mike takes the controller and just plows forward. But let's not forget the Super C (IIRC-it may have been contra) where Mike was dead-dead and James has the SAME glitch and beat it. Don't distract James! But Mike can stream, check the stream and reply, and still kick ass, and pause to take names.
There is nothing more satisfying than beating a hard game. These games are up there for feeling real good after you beat them. I've only beaten the snes one. I played that shit for 4 hours a day for six months straight to master it and know where all the treasure chests are and how to trigger them. If you see a chest, break it the fuck open. At least in the snes version, that's how you get the good shit out of them. You also have to have armor on for it to work otherwise you have to open 2 to 3 extra to get the basic armor then you can get the upgrades.
