Little Gransden airfield is located at Fuller's Hill Farm near Little Gransden village in Cambridgeshire, roughly half way between Bedford and Cambridge. Access is easy via the A1 or A428 roads. Unfortunately there are no public transport links to the airfield. If you are using a Sat Nav system, the postcode for the airfield is SG19 3BP.

my wife's uncle was an ace in ww2 with joe foss . He lost his life against Japan at the battle G.C. His plane was a wildcat. Most people dont realize how large a part of the war was won because of this plane! Great video,thanks

Pete, what a beautiful example of an underrated aircraft. And painted in pre-war colors to boot. The wildcat was Grumman's first monoplane, in fact that is why the landing gear was designed they way it was. It started on the drawing board as a biplane and in that configuration, the lower wing could not support the landing gear. They left the gear but went with the new wing design much to the chagrin of the pilots as it took 31 full hand cranks to raise and lower the gear. It may have been inferior to the Zero, but through tactics and ruggedness, it held it's own and actually ended the war with 5.9 TO 1 kill ratio. This model is a fine representation of the type and flown realistically well. I am rather partial to it as my Grandfather would state that on more than one occasion, the Wildcats flown by the Navy and Marines kept the Seabee's relatively protected while they went about building during the day and fighting at night, though the planes did little flying at night. Hey Pete, I was just watching Ken Donnelly's Warbirds over Delaware and noticed that you sent this response to that video also, referring to me. In context his comment that the response went to was about his accidental use of his son's P- 40 coming apart at the wing. Nice model (though the Wildcat is not a particular favourite of mine) and GLORIOUS engine note. But until now though, I hadn't realised that in the w'cat, the U.S. had a supersonic plane. Apparently.

When they started using Incendiary bullets, one in a string of 5, this aircraft became a Zero killer as well as a Kate and Val killer. The Zero pilot is sitting on 200 gal of gasoline with no armor or self sealing capability, six .50s would simply wreck any Japanese aircraft. The same aircraft with a bigger engine and four guns, FM2, was made by Goodyear and was used on smaller escort carrier throughout the war.

What a neat toy! Now if someone were to build one 4 times bigger for me I'd be one very happy camper! How did he figure out how to build that engine? And the monkey-motion landing system is simply an amazing engineering feat.

Quand on réalise une vidéo on joue le jeu à fond. Un tel appareil mériterait d'être taxié sur la piste et non pas poussé par un aide au point de décollage, puis d'avaler un peu plus de piste avant l'envol de manière à avoir l'illusion. NUL !!!

Je suis d'accord avec michel, mais le modèle est poussé pour une raison sage et aussi pour protéger le proppellor expencive de frapper le sol dans l'herbe rugueuse!
