Ya ya and I thought that industrial sized container of JARGINS was for a lot of lonely miners untill she came across the raided vending machine lol

The "key rack" in the shower area is known as a "brass board". The miner would hang his issued tag or "brass" to signify he was in the mine, and remove it after the shift. An easy way to tell if anyone was left in the mine. Pretty much standard practice in all underground mines.

Yea Wednesday firstie. That was a Blue Print machine. Copies original Drawings. Those are core samples which they examine or crush to see the amount of ore they are looking for. Cabinets for fire hose? Those 'Funnel halves' may have been a clarifier where the ore is floated and runs into the weirs around the outside. Or Not! Those big foundations were likely for Bar and Ball Mills which crush the ore very fine. No Balls though! The contents of those little envelopes likely represents an crushed core sample after grading. Thanks Sarah.

@ 3:01 that is a blue print copier. the ammonia develops the white lines on the blue paper. you should keep a flash light tucked into an..ummm aaaaa.. crevice or someplace when ever you are exploring.. flash light and knife (folder) and some sort of fire maker (zippo will do) besides your photo stuff.. could be just the ticket. I have also been to this mine several times over the last 20 years. It is sad to see how the site has deteriorated over time. This mine has had many names over the years, Tempiute Mine, Lincoln Mine and Emerson Mine. The mine is massive in its diggings, hence the very cold air! The mine did stop production in 1983 but maintained a limited staff on site thru either 1985 or 1987 (sources vary on this date). I am not sure if Union Carbide still owns the mineral rights? There was a report in 2008 that a company by the name of Spirit Exploration Inc planned to purchase the mine and begin operations again. Obviously, that never happened! When the site finally closed down for good the company paid a security guard who lived in a nearby homestead to watch the property and to keep looters out. I am not certain how long this lasted but by the late 1990s the only part of the site being cared for and maintained was the power station. It was hoped that mining would someday resume once Tungsten prices rebounded. What is interesting is that they actually did and yet the mine never reopened even though it was confirmed that hundreds of millions in tungsten still lies buried under that mountain?! My first visit to the mine was around 1998 or 1999, though clearly abandoned it was in a lot better shape then it is now. Too bad some people just can't stop and look without destroying stuff...

Hello wonderhussy. Your friend Ted here. I definitely enjoyed the videos of you exploring civilization in the middle of nowhere. Hahaha I do enjoy it though. It's amazing what they do and what they build and what they looking for. You have lots of good questions can you do a good job trying to explain some type of answer. I just have a hard time wrapping my head around the 1990s and 1980s being a long time ago. I guess that's what happens when you get old. You take care of yourself my friend. There is very good drone footage of this mine which was closed in the late 1980"s. It was a Tungsten mine,, tungsten was used for the filaments of light bulbs and the switch over to the new ones LED'S etc.was probably a factor in it's closing. The power plant up on the hill is still in use by a small town nearby. If you put in the town name(you know it, followed by drone footage , you can see aerial pictures of the place. I believe the core samplings were crushed in that roller machine and then sample packets were assayed for Tungsten content. I shall honor your secrecy and hope I was of some help to you. Cheers, Rik Spector

It appears you can't walk around Nevada without hitting an abandoned mine. They say there are around 200,000 abandoned mining operations in Nevada. One-quarter -- 50,000 minimum -- are hazardous meaning they're unstable/falling apart and/or have toxic material around/in them.

Bombero = pump man. Miners usuaally shower at end of shift to go home clean. I've been to closed mines and it's been like they left yesterday. Crew went home on Friday, got notice on Saturday not to come back. 75 years ago. That's how it goes sometime, money runs out, people go home. Giant funnels are pieces of a thickener. Dirty water in middle, clear water off the edge, solids down the middle. Smart girl. Stay Out! STAY Allive!

Looks like a gypsum mine those cabinets in the wall with the glass doors were for firehoses. That place looks like a spot that o seen someone else go to one time. They found a campsite that still had a tent and somebodies nelongings there but no trace of the person. They thought that maybe they went into the mine and fell into a mineshaft and disappeared. The board that you thought was for keys was probably for brass chips. It is a Mine Safety Rule that every miner is assigned a chip with their number on it. They put their chip on the board when to go into the mine and remove it when they come out. Before a explosive blast can be set off all the miner's chips have to be removed from the board for safety reasons. If there is a accident in the mine they know who is still in the mine and who to look for.
