Hi KANEN Thanks for coming back to me it was very kind of you I just want to say I support you because I think you are one of the most caring men I too Love reptiles but I think you are wonderful I will feed my little Guy on a slate that sounds really good idea Thank You again Take Care My Warmest Regards Barbra U K x x
This guy is awesome! He had my wife a friend and his kids over to see the animals, really great setup, really knowledgeable guy who love his torts.... and iguana's. He saved my baby Sulcata Blue, Blue would be dead right now if not for Sam! Sam... Write a book man! people need your knowledge.
GREAT,great attitude "BANGERANG!",.....But start now and very much consider Family "long-term' involvement,.....We've had our "MONSTERS" beginning in 1947/1948,......We're in our "80th" year and the "ORIGINAL" gang,(25 in all) are still more than ALIVE and flourishing,as of now we have roughly 85 or so.Your grand/great-grand kids 'll luv ya' when your long, long into your eternal "dirt-nap".
PrinceWilliam TheFox most definitely! I research as much as I can before investing my life, and my families life, in a new animal. I'm fortunate to have a young son (9) that loves his tortoises as well. He watches +kampkenan religiously along with reading up on the species he loves. I often tell people that I'm raising my future grand children's tortoises! Thanks for the reply, id love to see your Monsters!
"RESEARCH"!!,...excellent.,...We have a 6"+" acre Oceanfront (heavily vegetated) property in the Keys.My Grandpop/Mom moved there in 1935.There were many INTRUSIONS(sic). We keep to ourselves.I've ONLY been 'turned-on' to YOU-TUBE for 3 or 4 years.,....'firstly' to see vids on rigging, etc.,for fishing. My Mom & Dad (both deceased) brought home a Sulcata tortoise to my Grandpop in 1946/47,(I WASN'T born 'till 1952).Things just went on from there."NOW" my Family (HUGE!!!!!) spends lots of time with the 80(++{they hide}++) torts. It's fun.,.....An awesome initial INVESTMENT by my Grandparents' "RESEARCH",......I'm just the benefactor, and in no way the progenitor.I'm "NO" expert;one Daughter is a DVM/Phd.Her twin sister is also an Md.,Phd.,.....I leave all the vids to the GREAT-ONES=Kamp Kenan/Sam Pascucci.,...They're my gurus/masters of the torts.I'll pop my head out every once in a while when I see a good/GREAT vid.,.......Pascucci/Kenan have made it an "ART",....(a little PS for 'ya.) Just try swimmin' out 400/500 yards chasing an ALDABRA.,.....They "CAN","DO","WILL",....SSSSWWWWIIIIMMMMM,....'specially in a warm(hot) salty, clear Ocean.
This was a great video! I've always wondered if getting an Aldabra was something I could do. Lost of my questions answered here in this video. Thanks Kenan and Sam!!
Absolutely love all the knowledge and info from you and your buddy Sam. Great guy , love watching y’all talk shop and seeing all the tortoises 🐢 Love from Ohio
Hey Great Video! Could you make a video specifically for seasoned Aldabra owners? More particular on diet? I saw what looked to be alfalfa hay. What are the best bales to get, do you look at the color of the hay, Are there other hay types, do you wet it, do you put mazuri on the bottom, how often do you feed them hay, tricks and tips? I have seen Sam P.'s ads on line for years it was good to put a name to the face :)
Iv had my sulcata Male gettin a hatchling he is now 11 years old. 3 months ago i got a 2 year old female... he is a totally different animal now. So much more activity! It's crazy. If i would have known i worked have bought 2 or maybe even 3 originally
Aldabra's are really cool. They look a lot more unique in their actual features than some other torti's. Their foot shape, head shape and front leg spurs, all look really neat ^^
love all youre videos and i've learned alot from you and pushed me to learn even more about turtles tand tortoises which i have both of them and any informtion you could teach me i am very thankful
Love your channel, I have a question.. I recently got a pair of aldabras, but for some reason they are very fearful of people, they literally sprint away when they see humans. how do i make them more relaxed around people? tried to hand feed them but they wont budge out of their shells while im around. would appreciate any help, thank you!
Yea,they breed tortoises,....."BUT" they both truly, truely luv 'em even more.,.....Hey folks.,.....My suggestion is to ALWAYS start with "2" torts,......(In the long-run,.....It's ACTUALLY much cheaper),.....besides being more FUN & HUMANE to your tort.,...That's just my opinion.,.....One of the BEST tort vids of all-time,(just my opinion). Thanks you guys.
Maybe I'll make it down to the Daytona show some day and you can show me around some of your amazing animals. I know my son would go bonkers over your Torts!
A point to add about Sulcata's. Sulcata's need to wear down their shells. I've made places for them to dig, but I limit how far down they can go, and I fill in the holes once or twice a week, so they have to dig it out again. My male Sulcata had some fairly bad pyramiding, and it's starting to wear down, so those scutes that look just as they did when they were babies are polished and almost gone.
Amazing video Dr. Sam and Kenan! Thanks for sharing such great info and footage! I've been thinking about getting an Aldabra from him...hmm wonder if he has any baby males available?
@@KampKenan Yes, it´s remarkable how you care for your animals and I think that Tortoises/Turtles are so overlooked so that makes your content even more important. I´ve always loved reptiles but it´s quite honestly your channel that has sparked my interest in these wonderful armored critters and made me a real fan of them too. 🐢👍🏻
Hi KANEN can I give bananas to my Spur High tort ? And also his nails have grown very long what can I do ? Because I don't think I can cut them What a wonderful video just loved it Thank You so much Barbra. U am x x x
Kenan my turtle passed away... :( I'd like to keep his shell. How do I do that? I was told I could use superworms to eat the inner parts but they might destroy the shell, too. I can't just leave him outside to decompose because raccoons will take off with him. My old boss gave me a bearded dragon that wouldn't eat and when he passed away I buried him outside and the raccoons just dug him up and took him. Which I don't mind. They're making use of it at least by eating it, but like I said, I'd like to keep the shell of my turtle so I can't have them coming and taking him....
On the splayed legs, I just adopted a sulcata that's about over a year and it has that pyramiding and splayed legs. Could you elaborate on some exercises to help with the legs?
One great thing that helps, water therapy, that helps tremendously with splayed out legs, kinda like what you do with dogs when they get older or have splayed out legs as well
I knew some of those guys got pretty big but 400+ lbs? Holy guacamole! Lol That's just over what my 11mo old colt weighs (hes 385). 😂 Imagine a tortise weighing the same as a young horse 🐎 🐢
