Female ducks quack, males grunt. That girl is terrified. I love my ducks, they're so gentle. I get 1 egg a day from each female duck, that's a high value animal worth keeping around. The drakes are excellent protectors. Sensitive, funny, & adorable birds.

Process Jr. Try breeding frank w/ a dif breed like barred rock, orpington, RIR ect to see if the off spring are healthier. If they are start your own meat bird line that'll both taste good and breed naturally w/ no health probs! :) crossbreeding for a new type bird works best when you use 3 or more breeds in the mix.

Farewell Frank Jr.. It looks more like a pressure type ulceration, to me. I agree it would be cruel to keep him alive. He is in prime shape to get an infection that will make him suffer. ♥️👍🙏😎🇺🇸🐔

I would like to know more about what you feed Frank. Like what and how much? All I find online so far in my searching is just limit feed and not too much scratch grains.
@TheAbleFarmer
@TheAbleFarmer 3 года назад
By himself probably 2 cups a day. He lived with my turkeys and I throw in some food every day and he gets what he gets but then may go 23 hours until her got food again.

Frank looks great. Frank Jr.... I'd treat for bumble foot just to try it. If it doesn't work, process. Like you said you want it to be humane. But keep Frank! I love him and I want to see more of him

I have some cornish cross that due to health reasons ( my health) we missed the 8 week butchering date . We butchered them at 11 weeks and we had a massive amount meat. The Hens dressed out at 6 to 7 pounds and the roosters averaged 9 to 10 pounds. I am also in Ohio and am in driving distance to the Hatchery. Zero loss.

Frank Jr. might get an infection walking around there pretty easily. If that doesn't stop bleeding good chance he might not make it til Oct 9th.

He might not, I will keep an eye on him

Frank looks great. Yeah, Frank Jr. should probably be process soon. On Friday, my Cornish Crosses are going to be process. Any advice to get them ready? Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

I have 2 detailed videos on how i process them. I suggest watching those. Withhold feed 24 hours before processing so you have a clean gut. Good luck!

Clearly jr. Has something wrong with his feet but I think the bleeding was caused from the catch. He kicked the fence as you caught him. Probably just cracked it open in the process.

About the slow-growing Cornish you did a while back... Do you think it's possible to just raise them on regular chicken feed? :D
@TheAbleFarmer
@TheAbleFarmer 3 года назад
This one was raised on layer pellets, I wouldn't know why you couldn't.
