Justin your videos are awesome, keep doing what your doing. You show more enthusiasm in your videos than all the history teachers and professors I've had.
I love that you know your history about this stuff and you aren't just another vlogger with a camera. I am new subscriber and I am really enjoying your stuff so far.
The wheel Inn was a hopping truck stop back in the day. There is a short seen in the 1984 movie Paris Texas and you can see how busy it once was. I loved it as a kid in the 70's . Keep up the good work.
Glad you stopped by Cabazon and payed a visit, I live just a hop-skip and a jump south of the Dino's in fact I can see them from my living room... yeah I'm that close.
I grew up in Banning. My family moved up to the small mountain behind the town called 'the bench' in the year 1962. Those things have always been there for a long time.
Hi JustinScarred! I love watching your videos, traveling around the world and visiting Disneyland! I go to Disneyland too much that I felt like doing a vlog like yours.....Which would be neat! I have a pass to the Disney parks (CA only). It would be neat if I could meet you in person, and have been a subscriber of yours for several months! I go there too many time for pin trading! I watch your channel so much that one day I was in CA Adventure by the Hyperion theater, and when I came home and watched your recent video, you were there the same day meeting one of your fans! I am new with making videos and would like to start out at Disneyland, hoping to see you! You inspire me....slowly but surely going to make a video! Hope I can see you at the disneyland parks! : D
I was just watching the Tears for Fears video. You can see the sign of "Wheel Inn" in the background through the phone booth. then it switches to the next scene and the other guy is driving in his car and in the background you can see the dinosaurs.
my kids love the new format but I must admit when you come on they do this Sometimes Vlog Theme by themselves because they missed that part but you're doing a fabulous job
In that episode of I Love Lucy they actually go to Connecticut, but you're still awesome for making obscure Lucy references! I was on the raft to Tom Sawyer Island last week and a cast member said "The check is good," I almost died 😂
Hey man. I had an issue with my stabilitrak too. Turns out it was the throttle body. Replaced under warranty and haven't had a problem since. When it first happened, I had to unplug the battery to reset it. Worked for a while to get me out of the desert. Long story. Good luck.
Hi justin, It was horrible! We were coming back from vegas and got stuck on the 15 freeway by victorville, we had no where to go because everything was booked! so we had to go back to vegas, it was late and dark, anyways the next day we went to aaa auto club and they helped us get back home. We took the 18 to the 62 to the 10, it was such a wonderful desert road with little antique stores, cafes, ghost towns, etc it was an adventure! Thanx for all your videos!
Just in case you didn't know. We have a Roy's here in Barstow also owned by Juan Polo Chicken. Its on the corner of Barstow road and Main Street. Granted the chicken place didn't last long but the bulding still stands,
I saw these several times on our family trips to Hadley's market for dried fruits. Everytime I wanted to stop and check them out (being like most kids a dino freak) and every time dad would say "no". *sigh*
Extinct reptiles to (nearly) extinct Route 66 towns... not-so-random after all :-) Great work! < Christopher_Walken_voice> "More Googie, baby! Gotta have more Googie!" < /Christopher_Walken_voice>
Hey, Justin, we are more than likely going to be filming near Amboy for that short film. So if you're still down for that part, you will be back there soon.
I hitchhiked across that desert once. It was hot. I also got dropped off by the side of the road at night in the desert. Know what it was like? It was dark!!!!! Could not see my hand in front of my face. Lucky for me a cop came by and picked me up.
well Justin had you continued East you would have gone by the little town of chambliss were the flying saucers garage used to be next door to Metzger's market near Cadiz you would have gone through Shavers Summit past the ghost town of Danby and the ghost towns of Essex and Goffs and reconnected with US 40 but hey save that for another trip, love the vidoes.
Hey man, if your headed to Kingman AZ, you should stop in at the Railroad Museum. My dad is a volunteer there; his name is Dave. please stop in and say Hi!
the creationist museum is worth a look. And it does challenge the status quo - which is always a good thing. Don't just believe what you have been told to believe.
Amboy Crater: This cinder cone is estimated to be 79,000 years old (+/- 5,000 years) and was formed in layers of mostly vesicular pahoehoe. The interior has a lava lake. Lava flows as old as Amboy Crater itself blanket the surrounding area. The most recent eruption was approximately 10,000 years ago.
love the videos man but can u make a video about how many rides u can ride in Disneyland or DCA in one day? Is it possible to ride all the attractions in one day or two days #Randomlandchallenge.
And here I thought that The Stumps was a podunk town with hardly anything in it, Amboy makes The Stumps look like a major metropolitan like LA by comparison.
Have you stopped at the Bagdad Cafe? There was an independent German movie that was filmed there and it is not far from Amboy, CA. The movie was actually titled Bagdad Cafe you should check it out. That might explain why there were German tourists there. If you answered this question before, please excuse me. Love you trips and videos! They are great! It keeps me from getting more homesick seeing your videos around SoCal. Safe Travels to you!
Excellent video as always Justin. BTW is that the price of fuel at that gas station at 13:07? Wow. I guess if you need it you will really have to pay for it. Lol!
Okura probably bought the town from Buster Burris. In an ep. of California's Gold, Huell was here in December of 1993 (in 115 degree weather)he interviewed Burris who claimed to have built the town from the dirt up over 40 years earlier. He also mentioned the constant flow of German tourists, like Justin mentioned, kinda weird. The show started off with a long hike up to the top of that volcanic crater and then some much needed cold lemonade at the cafe. I think it's here on YT somewhere.
the wheel inn used to be packed back when the only thing's out there WERE the Wheel Inn and, the 2 Dino's. Wheel Inn had the best, homemade strawberry pie Didn't Bell also have something to do with the Calico Ghost Town ?
Justin, personal question. What camera are you shooting with? I love how it looks, and looking to get a new camera for my family trip. Please and thank you! Also if anyone else knows please respond! I would love suggestions!!!!
The Wheel Inn is gone now. One time I was driving home from KEZN 103.1 Palm Desert. I didn't have a cellphone, but had a beeper. On the 10 my beeper went off. I used one of those phone booths. Please deposit 50 cents for the next two minutes.
It's actually pronounced "din-knee" not "die-knee" Dinny was the name of the dinosaur that the comic strip character Ally-Oop would ride on. he was called Dinny because of the Colossal din (extremely loud sound) he made as he crashed through the prehistoric jungles.
the Hyundai, will give you 35-40 miles per gallon,, The Mustang??? 20?? I took a new Hyundai to Wisconsin a couple of months ago,, got 40MPG most of the way, got picture to prove, love the travel vlogs
I KNEW THOSE WERE REAL!!!!!! I remember seeing this when I was very young, and I new it was real. you could go through the long necks foot, and there was a gift shop in them. though I remember then just being concreat. not painted like they are now
