Some of the largest lava flows in the world can be found in the deserts of eastern Washington. The giant lavas erupted from giant cracks that can still be found today, if you know where to look.

I accept it. I need a solid 3 season series of this. I'll donate or pay for which ever network I need to! Where's the petition for knowledge!?

Good, but way too short. I really enjoy your longer format works.

I lived in eastern Washington near Mt. Spokane. The exposed rock there was ancient granite. The fissures that opened up to flood the great basin with basalt were south and west of where I lived I believe. From the Columbia gorge to the Palouse, I feel it's magic and I love it.

I realize your focus is on your Washington home, but these flows also affected our new home area in northern Idaho (Hayden). Throw us a bone some times. Be assured that I await your next production, and I think you are doing both geology and science education a service by producing these videos. I just turned 70 and I'm doing a Road Scholar trip on the Ice Age Floods in June. Keep up your good wwork.

It is interesting to note this is a gradual accumulation, and also that is occurring during the current part of the Earths history.

So are those like the Lava Flows in Saint George Utah ?
@Ellensburg44
@Ellensburg44 5 лет назад
I don't think of lavas when I think of St George. If there are basalt flows there....they are mini versions of this.

12, 000 feet of basalt! Boggles the mind. Once I complete the time machine I'll go watch the flows in the Siberian Stepps.

wait, i don't understand...how could it be 15 million years ago when the earth is only 6 to 10 thousand years old???

The earth is actually measured to be 4.5 Billion years old.

@@edwardhanson3664 it's telling that we live in a world where my original comment can be rebutted seriously by the non-"challenged" segment of society. i actually know 4 or 5 people who believe fervently in the young earth.

Tell me Nick? How do you come up with the gigantic number of 15 million years to say it's from lava splatter? Earth is Flat
@Ellensburg44
@Ellensburg44 5 лет назад
Ice Ice Baby, there is a very careful set of methods used to determine the age of some rocks. Earth is Round.
