Thanks, Jaki P. I did not expect he would be so sore and out-of-sorts. I encouraged the vet to let me bring him home to recover without an extra overnight in a cage at the vet. I was warned about the anesthesia withdrawal but I never thought he would be so affected.

Some people need to seriously realize that she is his mom and she would never hurt him. You complain about her picking up the dog. She was making him more comfortable and it’s about how she picks him up. You see she tries to make it as best as possible for him. Thank you❤️💖
But u dont pickup a dog with that "MANY" stitches/staples...whatever...u know damn well that pulled on them and that's why he wanted to bite..... even when I had my female Alaskan malamute fixed they told me not to touch her and let her do as she needed to get comfortable. I'm sorry but that right there was a jackass move!!!! You hurt that dog!!!!!! Hes winning cause he is in pain!!!! He wants to stay curled because if hes straightens out IT PULLS ON THE STITCHES/STAPLES!!! I just had both where they had to take out my gallbladder in the worst way ever with staples & stitches a 12" cut under my right chest. I felt the pain when he was lifted up. And the pain meds wear off fast and its not enough for animals....I felt so bad for him I wont finish the video...
As a vet tech, I have to say.. I would have advised my vet to keep him for the first 24 hours, or if he was going to be sent home, taught the owners how to pick him up! I'm soooo glad he pulled through, and you did an amazing job!!!
Yeah, they probably should have kept him overnight for observation. They thought he was doing very well but it was the anesthesia withdrawal that was the most bothersome. Once that wore off he was almost back to himself. It was hard keep him quiet and idle.
My dog died of cancer last year. I miss him really bad. He had a lipoma in his leg..this makes me feel Sad and happy at the same time. Take care of this good boy.
My died on September 2019 due to liver cancer. Worst days on my life. The worst part is that I couldn't say goodbye or been there when he need it. I miss him too much.

Felt the same way when my baby girl had an op. Cried my eyes out when I left her at the vet. Cried when picked her up, and cried with her when ever she cried. But I'm so glad kenai has you guys for parents. You did literally everything I would of done. Be sure he gets all the hugs.

Right! When my cat had a UTI and had crystals in his urin i had to pick him up and put him in a crate to take him to the vet. He hissed at me (he never does that) i almost cryed but it had to be done.

He finally settled and slept for a LONG time once he got into his fav chair. He would not stay laying down on the hard floor. He kept standing up with his head hanging down.

My dog once jumped out but luckily we weren’t going very fast so she wasn’t hurt and we put the window up. Our dog is very skiddish that’s the only reason why she jumped

I'm pretty sure it's at least a half malamute though. Its tail pops up, his ears point sideways and he has bigger bones than a husky. I think he's a mix between the two though.
This really breaks my heart seeing him in pain.. it made me teared up.. This reminded me so much of our husky who got very sick 😢 Kenai, I wish you full recovery! You did very good enduring the pain, you were very brave and good boi!! ❤️

He's doing mighty well, Shronda. Thanks for your interest in our baby. Kenai was mostly going through anxiety from the meds. His pain was under control from the meds but they mess with his mind!

Pain meds are meant to keep pain away. How do you know they mess with his mind. Most they’d do is make the drowsy and more likely to eat and get better

Leah, his crying lasted all night long. Seemed he moaned with every breath. He only stopped the cycle when I call out his name and the break was short lived. I was so exhausted the next day and so was Kenai. I slept on the ottoman of his bed for some of the night, I moved to the floor a couple of times. Brutal! But worth it. He is doing very well, now.

Thanks, Duke. He is getting back to himself more and more everyday! As for the darned squirrels, they know Kenai is a big softie. I have seen several digging up acorns within 2 feet of Kenai's sleeping face. I wish I had that on film. Each time I run to get my camera, the squirrels are gone when I return!!!

I tried to research other videos of what this would look like for him to go through from beginning to recovery (so I could prepare for it) but there was nothing out there on his type of lipoma. We learned as we went along. Kenai's doing very well, so far!

I agree. Depends on how "young" of a 15 year old he is. Kenai was "young" for his age (perfect health except for this lipoma) and he would have died without the surgery. I hope your boy is OK. Let me know of your decision and results. Thanks so much.

To everyone saying that they shouldn't have had picked up the dog: Dogs after surgery have hard time regulating their temperature. Cold floor tiles wouldn't do him any good. When my dog was after surgery, I had to put blankets on him but he was on tiles so he was still shivering so I had to move him back on one of the blankets he was supposed to be on. Plus someone else has said in the comments that one of the family members is in a wheelchair and couldn't get out if he needed to. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

As someone who went to school for animal care, yes they should have left him alone, they should have made a comfy bed on the floor for him, and not put him up high or picked him up they could have popped his stitches. The poor thing just wanted to be left alone he wanted everyone out of his face and to stop touching him.
It would've been bet to put couch cushions on the floor. This way you're not picking him up, possibly tearing stitches and STILL keeping him comfortable.
Samantha Coram the angle they picked him up caused no trauma to him and literally couldn’t pop the stitches, and you can see how his mood changed when he wasn’t on the cold tile floor anymore
@@waylon.g59 they could have easily popped the stitches, and the dog let her know that she was hurting him. I am not talking out of my ass here, I went to school for this, vet assistant etc. Those stitches could have easily popped. All they had to do was set up a nice comfy warm spot on the floor near them, and he would have been fine. Instead they risk his popping his stitches if he decided to jump down from the couch.

I remember my puppy when she was still alive she is the cutest puppy ever and I love her so much but sadly we had to say goodbye her because she died from a virus called parvovirus and it is a virus that a puppy can get after the puppy was born and the symptoms will only appear after 3 to 4 months I still remember she came to us to say goodbye by just staring and crying and the next morning she was gone she did not survive from the virus she’s only 4 months old shitzu and I really miss her so much 😭😭😭

I'm sorry if I seem insensitive, but I've had two lung surgeries and my incision site is roughly in the same place that Kenai's is, and I know the pain he's in. Trying to pick him up is the LAST thing that should have been done. It doesn't seem like anybody was thinking, even though you knew in advance he was having major surgery. Or, maybe it just didn't occur to you because you've never had major surgery in a location that can't be immobilized, so you can't do anything but bear the pain. I hope he had some good doggie narcotics - he needed some doggie Dilaudid. Poor baby!
Dear Mrs. Kelly from one mother of boys to another mother of boys I think you should be mom of the century and the universe. I love how you love on both of your boys but also treating them the same. I love how you've always encouraged Cole to try and do everything that his older brother does. I'm so proud of the man that Quinton is especially to his little brother. He's the greatest big brother that I ever watch. I watch all of your channels every day and night before I go to sleep. I was so relieved it was benign, too. There was much discussion about how rapidly it grew, the fact that it wasn't protruding out like lipoma, it was hard and didn't move; how it may have infiltrated his muscle and (worse yet) they may have to amputate his leg if the arterial nerve was involved. So lucky it was growing under the muscle and not into it. The tumor had to be removed in 3 pieces in order to get it out from under the muscle.
I had a husky and a yorky but now I only have a husky because my yorky passed away... one morning when we took him outside we didn’t know this but he actually ate a price of our neighbors dogs poop and it got stuck in his esophagus and he couldn’t breath well and we didn’t know he got something stuck... we took him to the vet and told us there was something stuck and when we finally managed to get it out and everything we took him home and said it would be good over time with medicine and care... but this whole thing took a day and a half so throughout the whole thing he wasn’t able to eat or drink water properly and so... we took him to the vet to find out he was dehydrated and there was nothing to do... they put him down to let him go out painlessly... I’ll never forget him I had him since I was 7 and I’m 14, I love him
