Use to hunt those with my pops back in the 70’s. The ones you caught are babies. The big ones can get 4-6 inches across the carapace with the large claw getting big enough to grab around your foot lol. Delicious
hey guys love your video's am from Trinidad thats in the Caribbean,we call that crab are blue crab, when ever the crab clips you just hold the eyes and it will let you go😁🤞
You would be able to catch a lot more if you came out at nights. They'd be crawling all over, no need to fug them from their holes as you could snag them with nets or throw a piece of cloth over them then take them up and throw in a bucket. Give them a wash off put your big pot on the fire, get some hot peppers, pimento, scellion, thyme, salt, and a few corn o the cob if you wish for a two in one cook. Those are still small to some we have here in Jamaica. Delicious.
That's an island Crab also known in Puerto Rico as Huey. They do not live in the water because they will drown. Their eggs are laid in the water but after, the move to land.
Coming this may in Jamaica is the time crabs are easy to catch. We gonna pull those guys out like how dentist extract teeth. You have to hold them on the shell behind. If they bite squeeze their eyes
Mud crabs are way more different with what appears to be spikes. Those are land blue crabs (Cardisoma guanumhi) and don't need water to survive even tho you can find them near water.
Does are land crab not mud crap lol!! That what u call big there 3to 4 times the size in the Caribbean actually the size of the one in thumbnail. nice video love u catchemall

In Hawaii we call mud crabs “Samoan” crabs. Your crabs are ‘Fiddler” crabs. If he grabbed a Samoan crab the way he did he would definitely not have his finger.
These are actually land crabs, not sure if Floridians call land crabs mud crabs or not, but def not fiddler crabs. They get fiddler crabs too there of course.
Blue crab is other crab, those in puerto rico are called jueyes, the blue crab is called cocolia. The jueyes is very popular in P.R. and cost a lot for the docent.. Google this two name and you see the difference.. Jueyes, cocolia
If you Google blue crab you will see is not this crab, blue crab and cocolia are the same, this crab in the video is jueyes google...a lot of plate they make with this crab (juey)
Dudes!! I've been a crabber / fisherman up here in the NW , and always wanted to go to Australia to go get huge mud crabs. I literally had no idea that Florida even had mud crabs!!?? I've been doing this for over 40 years!
Those are land crabs. There is a season on them. They are edible but I believe you have to pen them up and feed them out. I knew a Cuban guy who used to trap then. He had a pen in his yard with a huge tire in it. He had several crabs in the pen. Do another video catch and cook. Just check on the season and how to feed them out.
Im fron PR born 'n raise papi and make traps and catch them is part or the culture. And BTW in Puerto Rico they really bigger but dont go 2 sleep on them bitches they will really cut u specially female crabs
