Here's a vid about 3 Gigantic Eagles/Eagle-like Raptors from prehistory that are almost as big as the more famous Haast's Eagle. These birds truly are underrated and deserve more recognition!
Enjoy!

Came here to watch this after seeing your other vid titled "10 TEN EXTINCT BIRDS OF PREY/OWLS YOU'VE NEVER HEARD OF!". I have to say that learning about the Woodward's Eagle really surprised me. I had no idea that Late Pleistocene North America was home to a giant raptor that was almost the same size of the famous Haast's Eagle. I had previously thought such huge predatory had to be either flightless alla phorusracids or live on islands like the Haast's Eagle, not a mainland continent like North America. Makes me wonder if anymore such giant raptors might have existed on the other continents that we don't know about. This has definitely opened my eyes a bit. Thank you for the video.

Once they find the bones of that natural avian giant the native Americans called the thunderbird and they will find one in the permafrost or a newly discovered tar pit, Haast’s eagle will be but a distance memory, by the way LOVE your video presentation brother 👍🇬🇧

It would be cool if you discuss other giant birds of prey such as Argentavis and many owls that are top predators.

Also Amplibuteo has been lumped into Buteogallus. So it’s Buteogallus woodwardi now.

Similar to Haast's Eagle being referred to more now as Hieraetus moorei instead of Harpagornis, but most still know it better by its former name even if its family has changed.

Good video. As a fantasy writer, it helps a lot when creating new creatures and monsters.

being a aussie and travelled a lot of country bigger than some European countries i can say i have seen some monstrous wedge tail eagles that had wing spans wider than the road i was driving on.

Wedge Tails certainly are impressive birds with a huge wingspan in relation to body size (I say that as they typically are lighter in weight than Stellers or White tailed eagles). Some of the biggest females can rank as having among the largest wingspans among Eagles!

Correction: Dromornis didn’t live during the Pleistocene. That was Genyornis.
@Peregrinus8375

Genyornis is believed to have survived into the late pleistocene but then again Genyornis is a member of the dromornithid family tree. Its possible that dromornis subspecies may have survived into at least the early pleistocene though it is disputed

You did forget a couple of things, 1. it is solitary eagle, not solitary hawk 2. you forgot to include the titanohierax from the Bahamas.

That just shows how big the haast eagle really was. Even these massive Raptors are still smaller. Haast is king

True though these birds are nearly as big. The Haast eagle is definitely the heaviest and most powerfully built even if not by a huge margin for sure
